Subject: OXM Crystal Ball Halo Reach prediction

Was just thumbing through OXM while dropping a deuce, and in the Crystal Ball section where they have the rumor mole type stuff they said that Halo Reach will be class based and they compared it to Star Wars Battlefront.

If it is class based, I really hope there is no ability to start with a sniper all the time, or rockets. I'd get pretty annoyed if people constantly had power weapons, I really like the balance of Halo 3 and the whole "mad dash" for power weapons in the beginning.

I always read the Crystal Ball thing in the magazine, but I never know if any of it comes true. Can anyone verify if the Crystal Ball section in the back of OXM is valid? or has it ever been?

The rumor mole is not at all valid. For Halo 3 he predicted there would be drivable Phantoms and Pelicans....

Before H3 came out it said that H3 would have useable pelicans and I guess we know where that went.

He also said that the Gearbox's super-can-not-be-hyped-enough game was Halo 4 when we now know it was the just-now-cancelled-in-April Duke Begins (I mean come on, you can't overhype Duke Nukem).

hahah I remember someone telling me about the "flyable" Pelican, and I got pumped thinking I was going to be driving a crew of like 8 guys in a 16 vs 16 war. Didn't know that disinfo came from the same place. I don't know why they bother putting it in their magazine if they know nothing about Reach, no idea why they compared it to Battlefront either. Eh w/e thanks for the heads up.

Yep, I'm sure Halo would copy. Yep. That's very like Halo. Halo 1 was just like Quake and ODST looks like a GTA rip-off. Yea, Reach will be a Battlefront ripoff

/End sarcasm.

I do hope Reach isn't the traditional halo, but in a way odst isn't traditional halo. You know, it should still be halo.

Mind, body and soul, possibly my sole properties

I'm sure if Reach is class based there won't be power weapons, or you won't be able to start with them, the sniper is a power weapon because it's supposed to be, but it could easily be made into a much more balanced weapon.

I reeeeeeally hope Reach isn't class based

A class based Halo would suck. I play Halo because it isn't class based, same with Gears of War. I don't want to see a good game ruined. OXM obviously doesn't know -blam!-.

Then you can keep playing Halo 3. I don't understand why people think that Halo: Reach isn't going to change up the Halo formula. It'd make absolutely no sense for Bungie to put out another Halo title that plays exactly the same as the game that precedes it (H3) on the exact same console. Granted you could argue that's exactly what they're doing with ODST, but I feel like ODST is going to be different enough in comparison to H3, that we can enjoy both. I think Halo: Reach will be class-based (you only have to look at the Reach banner to see that).

Whatever Reach becomes, it's guaranteed that it'll be an amazing game. But I'll bet my life that it plays a lot more differently than H3.

It makes perfect sense to keep the gameplay formula the same. The fans like it. Go play CoD or Battlefield.
