Subject: Ammo Solution possibly found!

Everyone either says that you can raid police stations (or any other government/military building) or use Covie weapons, but after re-reading The Flood, I read a line stating that each ODST trooper is packed with enough ammo for 2 weeks without an equipment drop of any kind. This could mean that if you find a HEV, you can use it like an ammo suspenser (like in Fallout 3 Operation Anchorage).

So, anyone think this could be the solution to the ammo shortage that is likely to happen with the pistol/smg?

I am trying to find that line in The Flood again to quote it.

Official Mongoose Splatter Count (as of September 13, 2009): 417

Makes sense to me. Although, I still think there will be ammo littered throughout the city due to all the battles going on in the 6 hours the Rookie was unconscious.

That's pretty good for 2 hours of music without explosions and people yelling. I don't care if you steal it, but God does...

Having an HEV be like a resupply closet in TF2 would be a good idea. But, unfortunately, I don't think these HEVs were outfitted with the two-weeks deal, as their operation was supposed to be get onboard and destroy the covenant ship. You don't need thousands up thousands of rounds for a mission that would ideally take a couple hours maximum.

True, or we could have the Ammo things from halo 1 and 2 :)

This is the paragraph containing that little piece of info, from Page 58,

"Each pod was stripped of extra weapons, ammo, and other supplies, which meant that the force which converged on the hot dry plateau was well equipped. Helljumpers were supposed to be able to operate without external resupply for two-week periods, and Silva was pleased that most of his troops had retained most of their gear, despite the difficult drop conditions".

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Keep in mind the ODSTs in The Flood were all apart of the Pillar of Autumn which was specially equipped with top of the line gear for the mission of capturing a Covenant carrier and finding their homeworld and taking a Prophet hostage.

Meaning, the people on board were given extra equipment and supplies as well. The ODSTs and Marines on the Autumn were all prepared for a very long mission deep in enemy territory.

ODSTs on Earth are not. So it is unlikely you will be finding two weeks worth of ammunition anywhere.

Yes, I know that, and its is a possibility. However, I must take into concideration that the author says, "Helljumpers were supposed to be able to operate for two-weeks without external resupply"

Obviously it means Helljumpers in general, therefore meaning the ODSTs on Earth as well.

I guess we will have to see on September 22.

There's probably ammo depots. I'd imagine the ONI building would have one.

Yes, there should be a few places with a decent amount of weaponry around the city. Of course, I like those desperate situations where you have to resort to using the weapons from those you have killed because you've used all of your ammo.

That is why I liked the Halo 1 campaign, and that is why I will love Firefight.
