"Dear Bungie.net, we regret being stubborn bastards, we regret coming to this forum, and we most definitely regret that Darth Kooky blew up our raggedy-ass opinion!"

He's right. It moves like an Elite and is holding a Carbine. Jackals never rush anyone unless they have shields. Not even Marines. We have found our first Elite in Firefight. Oh and by the way, at this period in time in the Halo timeline, the Elites were still allied with the Brutes. It would make sense that very few Elites stayed behind and you see the odd one in Firefight. Bungie said Elites aren't in ODST back before Firefight was even announced meaning No Elites in Campaign. In Firefight during the day, the Brutes keep their allegiance. During the night, the Elites are betrayed and murdered. Though in the Campaign you never see one as the bodies have been disposed of.

Old GTs; RebelRobot, Flamedude

It looks odd, its hard to tell. I really want it to be an Elite. Maybe we'll get some Zealots at last, they've got to be as tough as Chieftains.

THATS IT! on the post carnage report there are two empy spots.
one is probably for an elite inflintry. and the other is probably a ZEALOT

I'm still a bit sceptical about this "elite" in particular, but it gives me hope, as do the empty slots in the carnage report. Although I do think they'll be a lot tougher than brutes.

im hoping its one too/

and the slots do look suspicious........ elites will be awesome if they are in firefight

This is definitly a Jackal, you can tell by its headgear because its got the marksman helmet. Notice its build and muscularity too, definitly to skinny to be an Elite. The way it runs too is consistint with the Jackals running animation. And the reason it ran at Buck is likely because Buck went behind cover and that Jackal wanted a better shot.

Looked like an Elite with armor similar to Shipmaster's. Silver and the same armor setup...only with both sides of the mouth intact.

um no buck is in the open running away and jumping...... in the OPEN

ima BAMF

See i would agree that it looks like an a Jackal, slightly, its acts more like an Elite though. It runs towards Buck like an Elite would chase you, Jackals do not charge.

It is not an Elite, as were it, there would exist a clear shot of one.

  • 07.28.2009 5:20 PM PDT

It is what it is.

My real gamertag is Boomerf16.

Well, I'm leaning towards it not being an elite. Everyone who says it is one for sure is probably the victim of wishful thinking. I think the 2 empty slots in the carnage report are just there to make the grid line up with the top part of the display. However, having looked at the evidence presented for there being Elites in Firefight, I do think there's a possibility, however small. What we really need is Cheehwawa to bring some sanity to this thread.

  • 07.28.2009 5:21 PM PDT

it is not a hunter people i just watched that part about twelve times and every time it shows an elite

The chance of Elites being present in Firefight, considering the fact that we have seen a hundred screenshots of the mode and not one clear, indisputable shot of one, is minuscule.

It's a Jackal. You can tell by the posture alone.

Just because it ran towards the player in Firefight doesn't mean that it's not a Jackal.

Firefight is about survival; you see how long you can survive through waves upon waves of enemies.

Pretty sure a Jackal isn't going to run away in that situation.

  • 07.28.2009 5:26 PM PDT

It is a Jackal with a Carbine.
There are no Elites in ODST.
