Why is it that in H3 the only covenant weapons that anybody ever uses are the plasma pistol (PP) the sword and the needler (which is a noob weapon).
The plasma rifle (PR) does virtually no damage to an unsheilded enemy, the carbine is overshadowed by the BR and all it's MLG fanboys whil the covenant sniper remains entirely unsed apart from in snowbound.

The only enjoyable covenant weapons are the brute ones, which aren't going to be in reach as it's a prequel, so that means no spiker, brute shot or mauler.

So the PR, carbine and beam rifle need altering and the brute stuff needs replacing.

The solution to the PR is easy, bring back the plasma stun. The only thing the carbine needs is more balanced maps, reduce the number of BR spawns and you're away. The covenant sniper needs to have something genuinly different to the UNSC sniper though. It might work if it became a close range sniper with a 2X and 5X scope as opposed to the 2X and 10X scopes of the sniper. At the expense of the shorter range it could be given some advantage over the sniper, either a quicker fire rate (without over heat) or a larger clip size. The needler should have much less homing ability but slightly faster bullets, this would make it a more skillful weapon to use.
I'm not sure, these are just some ideas, anyone else with ideas on how to balance out the covenant weaponry is welcome to criticize.

Now, replacing the brute equipment, Lets start with the vehicles.
The chopper can possible just be scrapped. Even though it is incredibly good fun, it fills much the same function as a ghost. The prowler will be replaced by the spectre. The spectre should be faster but weaker than a warthog.

The mauler could be replaced with a 'plasma shotgun'. Not sure if it should be dual or single wield. It could be used at longer range than the shotgun to strip away sheilds, but at close range it would need a shot followed by a beatdown.

The spiker is another one than wouldn't be a terrible loss, the SMG fills a similar role.

There are lots of possiblities to replace the brute shot. Some ideas I have been tossing around are a plasma launcher and a heavy needler . A plasma launcher would fire 4 mini plasma grenades, they would stick to enemies but 2 would be required to kill enemies. Obviously this would be very powerful so it would have to have be a morter type weapon. (meaning you aim above your enemies head and the grenades would drop). It would also be very innacurate

The heavy needler would be an anti vehicular weapon with anti infantry capabilities, It would have to have slow bullets that track vehicles but not infantry (similar to the missile pod but a lighter version) To kill a light vehicle you would need seven needle hits to cause an explosion, 2 explosion for a tank. It would have a slower rate of fire than a standard needler, to kill a spartan it would take about 3 needles.

If anyone has any other Ideas about introducing covenant weaponry, then feel free to suggest them. I'm also open to criticism as long as it's constructive.

However if you do want to spend your time posting OMG,YOUR IDEA SUCKS. without any reason, that's fine. At least it bumps the thread up and it gives us something to laugh at. Everybody wins.

i am sorry, but just because we didnt see brutes in halo CE it doesnt mean they were'nt around before that, but i like some of your idea's, such as the plasma mortar and heavy needler.

one gun I always wanted as a needle based sniper rifle, I believe I saw a concept in "The Art of Halo" but I'm not sure, I always thought that would be fun

single high velocity needle in the head = intsakill, just because I've never really liked the beam rifle, it's ugly, and it's just not as cool as other covenant weaponry

the H3 needler is perfect, and is exactly what I believe it should be,

the plasma pistols bolt needs to inflict damage like in CE, that has really bugged me over the course of the past two games, the small single shots inflict damage, but the giant ball of exactly the same substance does nothing to biological matter.

the CE plasma rifle was amazing, and I'd be on board with doing to the PR what they did to the needler, make it more substantial, more powerful, and taking away the duel wield capability,


I like all of the brute weapons and I hope they all stay, with the possible exception of the brute plasma rifle, which I've always thought was a lazy idea
