Bungie hasn't quite figured out or made the right gun that you spawn with. We need one with mid range but not much damage. A gun that is good for a fight but youll want to switch it. Introducing the R92 Combat Rifle or CR

Range- Mid-range
Fire Rate- semi automatic but restraints so mods wont work. say max is like 1.5 shots a sec
Damage- Great against armor, Weak against shields, 2x damage for headshots
Melee Damage- Almost a kill per beatdown
Clip- 15 shots per clip (Edited from 10)

Heres advanced terms for Damage
Shields are 1, Armor is 1
.25 damage against armor. So if The shields are striped it would take 4 shots or 2 if headshots
.10 damage against shields. t would take 10 shots to strip shields or 5 headshots.
1.75 melee damage

So it would take 14 shots to kill or 7 headshots
If you use melee it would take 1 melee and 1 shot

Damage after mid range goes down .5 and decreases the farther it goes, but can hit a target on the other side of the map

Notes:
The melee damage is so high do to the fact you often spawn inside in CQB.
The Fire rate max I'm not sure what it should be. I wanted it not to be a weapon of very much desire but a sturdy gun.

Melee damage actually needs a reduction, not an increase.

If you want to see the MC die, play Legendary. If you want to see MC finish the fight, play Halo 3. If you want to see MC finish the fight by dieing, why did you waste six years when you could have done it yourself right now?

Bungie decided to make pretty much all weapons do the same amount of melee damage for Halo 3 with the exception of the Brute Shot. Some things like the Hammer, actually ended up doing less damage because the melee so slow.

10 shots seems mighty low but I understand the kind of power it would have. I still think you should make it 15 rounds per magazine. It's not like you'll want it so powerful that you'll not want to use anything else. Also, 1.5 rounds per second? At that speed, you're going to see people rapidly pulling the trigger manually. Maybe that's the idea though.

Well for starters we need to kill an enemy with one clip. Reloading to finish a normal kill is madness, the 1.1 H2 Magnum anyone?

I personally think the AR is fine. It's a workhorse gun that you swap out when you get the chance but it can hold its own for the most part. Making it weaker will be like the H2 SMG starts, which didn't go down very well.

i have to second that opinion, 7 to 14 shots is alot of shots for 1.5 per second. in estimate it would take around 12 seconds to kill. i mean a strong weapon like the br would kill you in roughly 4. its a good start though you have got the right idea, make the restraints a little bit faster and i think it would make a great spawning weapon.

I want the AR to be a good weapon at close range like in Halo CE. The reason they didn't keep the SMG start for Halo 3 is because as soon as people spawned they'd find a weapon to duel wield and that took away beat down and gernades. My gun does a tad more damage, cant be duel wielded, and has a bit more range.

If the fire rate was 2 shots a second, the it would take 3.5 seconds with all headshot. I dont want it to overpower the BR. Like I said Im not sure what it should be but I don't want it to be like the G3 with a mod in COD4.

btw. as long as you have shields there's no difference between headshot and bodyshot

The MA5C is fine, people just found it easier to switch to the new BR rather than a weapon that uses a different playstyle.

They could start you with smg's like in halo 2 only for the fact that they give them a 10% damage boost. start up a copy of halo 3 1v1 with smg's and Br's. depending on how close you are the smg can take out a person with a br quite easily. sounds crazy but im not lying

How about we just stick to the weapons already established as being part of Halo?

If Bungie wants to add a new starting weapon, they have WAY better choices. MA5K, MA3, HMG-38, MA3B, or the good old MA5B. Any and all of these could be used, rather then trying to add a new weapon to a point in Halo where available weapons were already established.

^ Given the time that Halo Reach will be taking place, it seems unlikely the SMG or BR will be making an appearance.

^^ The MA5C didn't exist at the Fall of Reach. Pre Halo 1 people.
