I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.
As many of you remember, Halo CE, and Halo 2 had one big thing in common. In the first level, you were on either a UNSC Ship OR Orbital Defense Platform, that was being assaulted by Covenant boarding parties. This always got me thinking: "What if they took Halo multiplayer, and made a map featuring a Covenant ship, and a UNSC ship, with a bunch of ways to get over."
Halo CE featured a map that I believe began from this same idea, the great map Boarding Action. But Boarding Action never fitted my needs... (The ships were open? Rooms OUTSIDE the ship? Teleport from one to the other?)
So then I said "What if they used parts of the single player missions Pillar of Autumn, and Truth and Reconciliation. Then meshed in the idea of automatic Boarding Craft (load up in the craft, hit the switch, the craft immediately flies over to the UNSC ship and penetrates the hull, like the ones in Cairo Station). These craft would be limited on the map (probably 3 to 5 on each side, the UNSC side would feature Pelicans that automatically fly into the Covenant Hangar...) And perhaps a few directly connected tubes between the two ships (as described in Halo: Contact Harvest) and we could have one hell of a multiplayer map.
Imagine, looking outside your UNSC ship's windows, and seeing a massive clash between AI controlled Seraphs and Longswords (to add ambiance), a MASSIVE Covenant Cruiser taking up most of your pretty view of Reach below. Maybe catching a glimpse of a Covenant Boarding Craft headed your way, and moving away from the wall in time too see the penetration tunnel pierce through the hull of your ship, looking into the tunnel, and seeing a couple of enemies running through that tunnel, ready to attempt a bomb plant in your base (likely the bridge of your ship).
Now flip sides. You spawn in the Covenant ship, you wander the purple halls and eventually come to the hanger. looking out the fazed windows, you see the UNSC Frigate in all its glory, a and manage to spot Archer Missiles flying through space and hitting one of the energy barriers that surround your window. An explosion lowers the shield barrier long enough for a UNSC Pelican to make its way into the ship, spinning around quickly, and opening its hatch, a group of players from the enemy team run out. You take cover, knowing 4 players would kill you big time, and tell your teammates the enemy has reached the hangar.
Good times on a big map (definitely rivaling the size of Waterworks, and Sandtrap.)
