from what the trailers have shown theres nothing different from the Halo 3 sniper and the ODST sniper, i think they sholud (or should have) made changes to the sniper because it gives it that brand new feeling, no one wants to use a regualr old sniper right, we need change, ANYTHING!

It uses the Halo 3 engine, therefore the weapons are the same.

EDIT: To the OP, why are you even buying this game? Theres no BR in it so you can't go MLG pr00z0z0z0z0z on everything.

Plus it's the same weapon period.

  • 07.30.2009 8:50 AM PDT

Just because its the same engine doesn't mean the weapons are the same, they can do what they want to the weapons, although they probably will still be the same, be cool to have the night vision back though to go with the visor...

And so there was a man who ate cake.

And he was happy it was that way.

The only change I see is the scope is somewhat smaller, kind of like the Halo 2 SR Scope.

Fail.

Do you know what an engine is? It's what the game runs off, similar to a car.

The weapon data is stored in the engine.

So, when you use the same engine in another game, the majority of things will be the same. They can add new things, but thats pretty much it.

Halo 2 and Halo 3 have different engines.

  • 07.30.2009 8:55 AM PDT

So how do they change weapon strengths etc post launch. Its the same weapon, might be stronger or weaker? so yes they can do what they want to the weapons, the engine sure deals with physics but the effects of a weapons can be changed, im guessing thats what the OP wanted to know?

  • 07.30.2009 8:56 AM PDT

What's wrong with the Sniper? It seems perfect enough to me.

What?

Halo 1, 2 and 3 all had different engines.
And if you're talking about the Halo 3 Beta, that was a beta. It wasn't in the final stages.

Your logic confuses me.

  • 07.30.2009 8:57 AM PDT

no im not talking about the beta, im talking about pretty much any game thats ever come out, post release patches change things, my logic is fine, and tbh halo 3 is running off of a heavily modified halo 2 engine

Not at all. Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, and Gears of War 2 use the same engine. They're very different.

The engine is the physics and graphics.

A game engine produces the visuals, the physics etc. provides developers with a brush and canvas if you will. What is done with that can be anything (within the limits of the canvas) and can be changed at any time. gears 2 and vegas 2 are both unreal engine games yet completely different, your arguement is that these two games, because on the same engine, would have the same weapons etc. Which is wrong.

and just because i have to

Fail?

Both Gears of War 2 and Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 use the Unreal Engine 3. Same goes for Fracture and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which both use the Havok engine.

Exactly. I can't see how they can't differ the weapons if they want but since it's still "Halo 3" i'm sure they don't want too much changes to pre-existing weapons because most or all of them are already balanced.

The Sniper in Halo 2 is exactly the same as the one in Halo 3 just they added back the Night Vision on the scope in Halo 3. Same model!
