Subject: New ViDoc response to IW?

I saw some speculation on a different site that the new ViDoc might have been a response to IW releasing their new MP video. It seems reasonable enough to me, given that CoD4 was Halo 3's biggest competition back in 2007-2008. Anyone else agree?

"Anyone can give up it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's the true strength."

Hmm. I agree. But ODST's video abuses MW2's. The music, the voice-acting, the 'intenselynessness'.

Does it really matter? You pretty much made this thread to start a war. Yes the ViDoc is better but that's cause ODST, IMO anyways, has more behind it in terms of characters and story,

Agreed, if this was a move by Bungie to surpass the MW2 vid, they took the cake... and the rest of the food, and the table, and the mayor's daughter.
Edit: Not that I think that they were trying to compete...

Really? Wow, that's incredible. I had no idea that other people knew what I was thinking better than I did. You should go to Vegas with talents like that.

I made the thread to see if people agreed with the idea or not. I'm not trying to say one studio/game/video was better.

NO GROUP INVITES!!!

I don't think the ViDoc is a competitor for MW2 trailer. Trailers aren't really competitors (IMO)*
Halo 3 got a lot ViDocs before its release, and none of them really came right after some other game's trailer. They come when they're ready or the time's good. Same is happening with ODST. And it's SEVEN weeks till ODST (well less but anyway)

/off-topic rambling
*Why are games of same genre even considered competitors? The companies do compete, but games don't because if one likes FPSes, he or she is likely to buy most of the new FPS that come out... of course people have preferrences, like certain style or (dis)like certain developer (like i don't like Valve). /end off-topic rambling

better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt

monero senor. its about money. if you compete, and you win, you get more of it.

i dont think its a competition, bungie is too good for that. theyre just doing theyre job and chugging along. however i have high hopes for iw as well.

btw, im amazed we havnt gotten into another iw vs. bnet argument. im proud of you floodinians!

Probably, but Bungie is definitely in trouble with CoD, I know I'm buying both. So don't worry about me Bungie!!!!

And when is the time better than right after your main competition releases something of their own?

That's like saying that even though McDonald's and Burger King both offer burgers, they aren't competing because most people like burgers and don't care about which one they eat. There are significant differences between them. They both might be burgers, but they have major differences between them. MW2 and H3:ODST might both be FPSs, but that's pretty much all they have in common.

Don't these things take a while to make?

Yes, but you don't necessarily have to release them as soon as you finish. You can save them for a good moment like this one.

People keep telling me to get a life... I am getting an education, I have a lovely girlfriend and alot of friends... I thought this was having a life? Gues I was wrong...

In my opinion, most new coming games pale compared to ODST. I may be a huge fan of the Halo series, but I like other games too(Including CoD), but I just think Bungie does a far better job at making games than most other companies out there, sure alot of them make good games(Bioware, Blizzard, Lionhead etc), but they seem more interested in money in the long run than making their fan base happy. I have never seen a company do so much for their fans than bungie has and if you disagree on that, you have most likely missed out on most of it.

Anyway, Looking forward to ODST, and this ViDoc was awesome :)
