Subject: How do you think the garbage trucks will work?

Go Rams and Missouri!

Well, if you watched the ViDoc, you may have heard Buck say that you can ride the garbage trucks in the game. If you missed it, he starts to talk about the SI and says, "Hell, we can even commandeer the city's garbage trucks if we need to!"

I hope that we get to ride in them and shoot Covenant from the top of 'em or something. If not, though, I'd like it to be just a shortcut through the city, I don't want to watch myself riding. Also, it is the future, so maybe the trucks have built-in weapon systems for emergencies. That would be awesome.

What are your thoughts or hopes for this unconventional way of travel?

i think garbage trucks is a codename for some high tech car or maybe a smaller version of the elephant that can go faster or maybe even a pelican

"I like the Battle Rifle, but I can survive without it. A good player uses all of his assets that are available to him. " - Blue Max70

So true...

It would be cool but I think Buck was just using the trucks as an exemple of how powerful the SI is.

Well, at E3 in an interview, somebody joked about elephants in Halo 3: ODST and Joseph Staten replies, "You have no idea how close we really are to that."

I agree, I think it was simply hyperbole to demonstrate how various your options are in the free-world environment. Not 100% face value. Leave it to all the twelve-year-olds to joygasm over it, mm?

Joseph did say during the E3 demo that as you progress, you will find other ways to move around the city other than on foot. Obviously he could be reffering to driving a warthog or mongouse, but if that was it, why be secretive about it? I'm not saying it will be a garbage truck, but it might be. The fact is there are things they have not yet shown us, so we can't rule anything out yet.

In which you have to collect more corpses than the Covenant Keelbug before the timer runs out.

Yeah, because calling people twelve year olds makes you look real mature yourself. Besides, go look at some modding videos on youtube. It's quite possible to drive the garbage truck and the normal one, I imagine Bungie didn't want us to do it in the other games because a spartan is too big to get in, however, now that we're ODST's, otherwise normal humans it would make sense that we can use these vehicles. Think before you rage, yeah?

Like calling in an airstrike. Point where you want them, the Superintendent sends them in, ramming any Covenant in their path.

bungie doesn't care if your a spartan and don't fit into a garbage truck! Its a freaking video game! on the back of the mongoose it states that the weight limit is 200 pounds......i wonder why bungie lets two Spartans ride it?........because its a freaking game!

Im more than sure that the man was just trying to tell the other dude the capabilities of the SI.So kids don't expect to ride on a garbage truck!

  • 07.30.2009 12:22 PM PDT

no one is expecting anything, just trying to guess at what else Bungie has up it's sleeve. They have hinted in this direction, so ya, people are talking about it. What I love is the way some people talk as if they know everything about the game, and dismiss other people's ideas for no good reason. I'll be laughing my -BLAM- off when the game ships and everyone is driving around in dumptrucks or schoolbuses or something like that. All the condisending posters here will be sitting at home feeling pretty stupid : )
All I'm saying is we don't know what Bungie has in store, so if you dissagree with something that someone says, give a logical reason. Don't just insult them.
