Really? Shadowrun only had 9 maps and was priced at 60 dollars. The game is held by many hardcore Counter-Strike veterans as a great, skill based shooter, with magic. Microsoft looks at games like Battlefield 2 that launched with 12 maps and think they can get away with pricing Shadowrun as a full game? They have no clue. Battlefield has massive maps you can scale back to make smaller versions. Shadowrun only has like 2 different versions of 3 maps that are already small and scaled. Then the critics rate these games based on price, and everyone knows Shadowrun got a bunch of 6/10 ratings. In the end the games and the developers pay the price.
This same pricing can be seen in the overpriced DLC.
I fear people will view Halo 3 ODST the same way despite the added content like Firefight and Halo 3 multiplayer with all the maps, and Halo 3 ODST will pay the price not only in reviews, but in sales. Sure the game will sell great. It's Halo, but I'm certain the large casual fanbase who doesn't view the internet or read up on games will be disappointed when they find out the game has the exact same multiplayer and is priced at $60. I see tons of returns, dropped prices, and used game sales.
It's not gonna be as near as bad as Shadowrun. It will probably get a ton of 8/10 ratings, but it would do so much better at a lower price.
