Personally, any large games, like MAG, just makes me feel less connected to my teammates. Anybody that says 256 v 256 (or whatever crazy number) multiplayer is the future for multiplayer games are dead wrong. It'd be utter chaos to try to talk to my teammates; there's just too many people. Bungie should keep Halo around 8v8 (10 v 10 isn't a bad idea, but you should get my point). Sometimes something small and sweet is much better than something that would be the biggest cluster-blam!- I'd ever see.
Really, if I were the head of Microsoft Game Studios, I wouldn't worry too much about MAG.
I'd rather have more people. It means that one crappy person that happens to be on your team won't affect you as much.
Granted, there are cases where you'd get a person who's skill is significantly less than your (or other players you're matched with) skill level, but for the most part, the Trueskill Matchmaking system does match you with people who are relatively the same skill most of the time. The issue you've pointed out doesn't happen consistently, and it's not that great if an issue. Bad teammates are more evident in smaller parties, maximum 4v4 (from my experiences). 6v6 pretty much mitigates the issue of being matched with a bad teammate, as you've got 5 other players carrying that lone bad teammate. And, more times than not, I've seen where a team has been matched with a bad teammate AND an exceptionally good teammate.
