Subject: There Is No Halo 3 PC

All I ask is that you don't try to capture me.

Hate to burst your bubble guys, but it's not happening.

Here's a nice little article; apparently, a Twitter update from Halo Waypoint (that Halo hub thing for XBL) stated the following:

"For the record, Gearbox is NOT working on a Halo title for Microsoft."

So, Gearbox, the guys who ported Halo 1 to PC, aren't making a new Halo game. Suprise, suprise. If Gearbox won't port H3 to PC, who will? Maybe MS Game Studios? Nope, they just formed 343 Industries, a division which will work exclusively on Halo content. And according to their official MS Bio:

343 Industries is the publisher of the blockbuster "Halo" series of videogames and, as part of Microsoft Game Studios, oversees the "Halo" franchise, including novels, comics, licensed collectibles, apparel and more. 343 Industries is home to world-class developers working on future "Halo" projects, including "Halo Legends" and Halo Waypoint, as well as partnering with renowned developers such as Bungie LLC and Robot Entertainment to produce "Halo" games for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE.

Note that last part; no mention of the PC or GFWL. XBL and 360 only. So if MSGS isn't working on it, and Gearbox isn't working on it, then who is? Bungie, perhaps? Nope. It's already been announced that Halo: Reach is Bungie's last Halo title, after which they'll be exploring a brand new IP.

So sorry to burst your bubble, guys, but it's not gonna happen. There's no port of Halo 3 coming to PC. Concentrate your efforts on something else, like getting Bungie to fix H2V, or maybe even patch up HPC.

umm...did you really expect gearbox to work with bungie on anything else? i'm sure we're all already aware of what you've posted, and until bungie specifically says one way or another, you can't make claims about anything.

All I ask is that you don't try to capture me.

But they have; that's the point of my post. Bungie isn't gonna work on any more Halo titles after Reach. Gearbox isn't making a Halo game, Hired Gun is dead, and 343I is working exclusively for the 360. Therefore, there is no possibility of making a PC port of Halo 3. Every other post I see in the Maw mentions that H3PC is or might be in the works, and I'm just stating that it isn't possible.

In case you hadn't noticed, pretty much everything's possible. Your post just indicates that there will be no Halo 3 PC in the near future. Heracy I sayeth! We who believe shall keep on believing.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Microsoft can always form another impromptu internal team. Just because Gearbox isn't working on the title (a shame) doesn't mean it won't happen. I do know one thing: I won't buy it.

the true reason why PC versions of halo will always die is because:

Restricted Map kit. why won't they ever let us use all the content in the "said" game?
objects that Bungie made into the campaign section and certain MP maps.

I would like maps with AI, I mean wth real players can suck. players v ai is better.

Scripts...lets say I wanted to change gravity? or cause explosions...that gets triggered by a switch?

Create our own survival map...to play with 16 players or more.

STOP FUKING RUINING PEOPLES CREATIVITY...YOU BASTARDS.

GO fool around with SDK with Valve's game if you want creativity

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Nobody here knows anything for certain, and that is the bottom line.

Nevertheless after playing Halo PC for so many years, I am sort of over Halo in general, especially after wasting 50 bucks on H2v.

The point is that no one is currently porting H3 to PC, and that it can not happen within the next few years. A port after that point is possible but unlikely.

Personally, I don't see any way a successful, enjoyable PC port could be made. Allowing modding and custom maps would mean the game couldn't be cross-platform, thus dooming it to a low population like Halo 2 Vista. A direct port of the game without mapping/modding tools would be a waste of time; porting an old game without adding anything new wouldn't be very profitable at all.

Where are you getting these ideas? Microsoft doesn't have to tell anyone if they're porting Halo 3. Why can't you understand that?

I wouldn't believe everything you read. Remember how many times Bungie claimed they weren't working on Halo 2, and later Halo 3? Probably not, but it goes to show that just because they say it, it doesn't make it true.

Also, I can't see why you believe that Halo 3 couldn't be a successful port.

Things don't look too promising though if they don't have some good news soon. Halo PC was a long time coming, Halo 2 PC was an insanely long time coming, and at the moment we're at some point between the two.

What are you even talking about? You have no idea if anyone is porting H3 to the PC, you DO NOT KNOW, get it? Why can't it happen in the next few years? You are just making stuff up dude, stop it.

I will say it again: NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING FOR SURE.

Furthermore, chances are very good that Microsoft sees $ signs in porting H3, they aren't going to ignore that opportunity. Logically, they will finish out the series on all platforms since that is the current trend. If it doesn't happen, who the hell cares. It is well established that there can only be 1 Halo. H2 and H3 are watered down versions for the kiddies.

Q.Will Halo 3 come to PC?
A.This Question bothered PC gamers in a bit of time. It's time to look at things that might prove Halo 3 will be made on PC.

First, however I will show you the reasons WHY it should be released on PC.Or Should I put it this way:Why are Shooter games easier to play on PC?!The first and most important reason is:Accuracy,I don't know about you,but when I play Halo 3 on Xbox360 which isn't fully-functioned it's NOT because red rings it's the disk drive doesn't work; so the warranty won't replace it. So don't bother asking for my gamer tag.Anyways,it's a bit hard to aim accurately. The Analog Stick simply sucks when trying to aim,In my opinion. Also, low sensitivity on the analog stick,it's a bit easier, but then you can't turn around fast,so that kinda sucks too.And SOME,PC mouses' have the ability to give more speed and accuracy while aiming.

Second Reason:
Monitor resolution

PC screens have much higher resolutions then TV's when comparing the resolution to the size of the screen.A 24"Widescreen PC screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 or (1920 x 1080,depending if it is on 16:9 or 16:10.)Does 1920 x 1200 seem familiar to you?Yes,it's called HD or High Definition.Almost every TV you buy now has it.But TV's are bigger than PC Monitors. This means that a 24"PC monitor has the same amount of pixels as a TV,which usually is 30" -40".So you can see things much better on a PC monitor than on a TV.So these are the main reasons for it.A PC is usually best for gaming, even if the consoles are purely made for gaming LOL.

Now let's look at some proof that microsoft might release Halo 3 for PC.It was said that Halo CE or Combat Evolved was not coming for PC.The Xbox game for Halo:Combat Evolved labeled:"Only on XBOX"And it was pretty much wrong.Halo:Combat Evolved was released sometime for PC.The Same thing happened with Halo 2 Xbox ,The Xbox game labeled "Only on XBOX".Halo 2 was released on Windows Vista only (FFS) which kinda sucks, since the majority still uses Windows XP.And lots have switched from Vista to XP.After getting a new PC because some of the features and bugs make Vista suck.In my opinion. So later again,Halo 3 comes out and it labeled "Only for XBOX" as usual.Yes,It says Only on Xbox360 but before you reply to this and say:"z0mG n00bzor it s3z only f0r Xb0cks360!!11one".Keep this in mind,If the Halo Franchise happened 2 times on PC,Why not 3?

If Halo 3 ever comes to PC,obviously,it will be for the operating system Windows 7.Because it's the only Operated system announced. It' supposed to be an improvement of Vista. The Halo Franchise is an epic win from Bungie,And I love all the Halo Games,Except a little bit of Halo 3's deployable equipment. But,I prefer gaming on a PC,instead of Consoles,And I bet that there are more who do as well. And why wouldn't be made for PC?Myself I have no idea.It just seems stupid ignoring PC gamers who want to play an awesome game.Of course,we have people who claim that microsoft wants to sell more 360's by having more exclusive games.WRONG!Not to mention microsoft owns Windows.Don't see much games on Linux or MAC.

-Edit:
I also proofread my spelling to make it slightly perfect.

Halo was always intended to be released for the PC and Mac. The game did start there after all until Microsoft took over the show.

Probably just as well they did take over though or it probably would have been another Duke Nukem given that they started it in 1996 as an RTS, switched to third person action and then took until 2001 to release it as an FPS on an entirely different platform. Kind of amusing that they had to port it from Mac/PC to Xbox and back to Mac/PC again.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

It may come, but as a title to say promote the next version of windows/dx (like h2v and shadowrun, which were vista locked). And it also probably wont come due to the fact that pc gaming is dying.

Please give me good evidence that PC gaming is dying. I'm pretty sure fans of Valve and Blizzard would disagree. So would South Korea

PC gaming isn't dying so much as we're seeing a rise in the usability and versatility of consoles. Before 6th-gen consoles were released, online play wasn't even possible for consoles. And even during the 6th gen, setting up 3 out of 4 of those consoles was a hassle and often expensive.

PC gaming is on the decline, that much is true. Since having to deal with piracy issues, many developers are looking more and more to consoles. Epic Games and Crytek are the first to come to mind, with Unreal Engine 4 planned to be console-exclusive and CryEngine 3 essentially being a slimmed-down and optimized CryEngine 2 for console play.

PC gaming also took a hit when the quality of games made for 7th gen consoles, specifically the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, topped what PC gamers will willing to pay to upgrade their systems for.

So does that mean that PC gaming is dying? Hell no. We've seen quite a few major releases recently, and many ambitious titles are on the way (Looking forward to Diablo 3). And with the longevity of this console generation and the increased availability of performance-based computers, we might see PC gaming numbers jump back up. If a $800 PC can run those games better than a $600 console, we might just be back on track.

Now, to stay on topic, I'll throw in my two cents about H3PC. If Microsoft were to port Halo 3 to PC (which would be unlikely) follows the same pattern as with the two previous titles, we can assume this:

1. They will not port the title, but have a third party port it for them, possibly constricting them with ridiculous mandates.
2. They will choose who will port H3 around the end of 2009, and the port will be released mid -or late- 2010.
3. The port will be exclusive to Windows 7, or only be available for 7 and Vista. Mac support will not even be considered (Nor should it; You don't buy Macs for gaming unless you're retarded).
4. The game will under-perform in terms of the quality we'd expect from PC games.
5. They will drop support for the game in a very short amount of time.

Given this, it's nothing to look forward to, regardless of whether or not it's coming.
