Subject: There Is No Halo 3 PC

This is an old account iDarkWint3r is my new Bungie.net user.

That opinion might be true they might abandon Halo 3 just like Halo 2.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

ODST = Halo 3.
It is just a console expansion pack (like on pc, but standalone) with the same online with same maps, sort of like HL Opposing Force or HL blue shift. Those were just new campagins for the same game.

And besides, even though the original cs isnt as popular as cs source, they are still supporting it, just because people still play it.

Lol gearbox? really? just because they ported Halo 1 means absolutely nothing, they did a -blam!- job on that and if anyone has half a brain they would not be let near another halo game again, it isn't going to be Microsoft based or Gearbox, at least lets hope not, after what happened to both those ports, maybe bungie could actually do a port themselves now, or one of the companies they own, because they are a publisher now.

You are so wrong about Gearbox. The fact that you think "bungie could actually do a port themselves now" shows how off you are. Microsoft is to blame for all of the problems, since they own it and had the port done. If they had paid Gearbox to keep updating the game year after year after year, I'm sure Gearbox would have done so. As it happened, Microsoft decided to move on and let the game rot. And those jackasses did the same thing with H2v. It is deja vu now that the modders and download kiddies have the ability to disrupt games with cheating. Seriously M$ allowed the same thing to happen twice. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Microsoft Game Studios is no friend to PC gaming.

The reason why Microsoft abandoned those two games is because they're old. They have more important Halo games to focus on such as Halo 3. It won't be long until they abandon Halo 3 for the next Halo game (Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach).

*FACEPALM* OLD OLD? Are you serious? Look at Counter Strike Source. If a competent team ported Halo 2 and would support if, it would be a fine game. The only thing at the moment Microsoft has anything to do with the 2 new Halo games is the publishing and publicity for it. Bungie is the one doing all the work on the game...your logic never cease to amaze me

Bungie makes it, but they still do share similar views with Microsoft. For example, Bungie is already starting to abandon Halo 3. The next 3 maps for Halo 3 will be the last 3 and Bungie is no longer going to release anymore updates (patches) for Halo 3. Their main focus is Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach. You can't deny that. Halo 3's time is almost over. Soon, it will end up like the previous Halo games.

Of course Bungie gonna give up...oh wait ODST share the same Multiplayer as Halo 3....I dont think they will stop supporting it anytime soon. Stop making maps yes, but any playlist changes or patches no. Not till Reach and/or the future project is released to the public

ODST doesn't share the same multiplayer. They are still separate games. ODST's multiplayer is basically campaign co-op and Firefight co-op. That 2nd disc that comes with ODST that contains Halo 3 multiplayer is completely separate from ODST. It's not like you can play as an ODST in matchmaking on the 2nd disc.

In one of Bungie's weekly updates, they said that Title Update 2 would most likely be the last update for Halo 3 unless something big comes up. And yeah, you're right about the playlist changes. Bungie will keep doing that for quite some time.

No. But from what I gather it uses the same service, so as long as ODST is around, Halo 3 will be around because they use the same multiplayer service. I might not be able to play with my halo 3 buddies if I am playing ODST, but the SERVICE it uses is the same.

What do you mean by "SERVICE"?

By "service" I mean the server system and networking involved in keeping H3 multiplayer working. The whole system can be seen as a "service" or "system" that works and the end result is you being able to turn on your 360 and launch Halo 3 and play with your buddies online.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

There is a difference between adding maps and doing the bare minimum to keep the game cheat free, something Bungiesoft continues to do with their Xbox Halo games. Microsoft on the other hand completely abandoned Halo PC and is well on their way to doing the same with H2v.

Hired Gun was an internal Microsoft team, so Hired Gun=Microsoft. To say that H2v is no longer supported because Hired Gun doesn't exist anymore is exactly the kind of blame deflection M$ needs to stop if they want to publish PC games that people will buy.

yes, and also, halo 2 xbox has been relatively cheat free due to the fact that the only people who can cheat are xbox modders, who get BANNED from live. GFWL, though, has no built in anti cheat system so it is easier to cheat than with the xbox 360, which requires hardware hacking to cheat.

AND one more thing, since like firefight and campagin co op are on the odst disc, they would be seperete from halo 3 online.

Actually, that service you're talking about is called Xbox Live. It's the same service used in every game on the xbox 360 as well as the original xbox. So basically, Gears of War uses the same "service" as Halo 3. Xbox Live is a unified online multiplayer service. It's not like PC games where you host your server. Most PC games don't have a single unified online service. Microsoft is trying to change that, but we all know it's not going to happen.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

The fact that ODST will come with Halo 3's multiplayer is what LoneStaruner was talking about. In that sense, the packaged game as a whole shares the same multiplayer as Halo 3.

I am really glad I spent the time trying to explain this to you. I seems to have gone right over your head. I am not talking about the xbox live service. I am talking about the networking protocol it uses. They use the same system to play online. The "netcode". If they are not exactly the same, they are going to be very similar because why get rid of good netcode.

Oooh I see what you mean now. You could've just said netcode the first time and I would've understood what you meant. Yeah both games would have pretty much the same netcode. But in ODST, that netcode is only really used for Campaign Co-op and Firefight Co-op.

It is the netcode, but not the game's netcode. You really have to understand that it what the game connects to on a low level. NOT the xbox live component.
