After watching most of the ODST footage it seams that using the silenced weapons doesn't make you stealthy. The Rookie at the 2:33 mark of the Desperate Measures video sneaks up on three grunts and brute from the second story of a building shoots the first grunt and right away the rest turn to his hiding spot and fire. I'm not saying that ODST was supposed to be like Metal Gear Solid it's just i would like the enemies in the game to not see me in pitch dark while i'm shooting from an unknown position using suppressed guns.

Hey! Fancy seeing you here!

Um...I dunno, if my friend suddenly dropped dead, I'd probably go looking around to see why.

You know, since we were at war and all...

I speak the truth, and truth speaks itself.
The lies disguise what you despise.
Run. Flee and be, what you've always dreamed.
What happens now won't matter later.
What you see will not be, nor what you imagine will not happen.
The end is close, so take your dose.

As with real guns, no suppressor can completely silence a gun, or reduce its muzzle flash to 0%.

But yeah, I was shocked to see that too.

Perhaps he was playing on a harder difficulty, where the AIs would be more perceptive, seeing that their comrade had perished?

Yea, I think Bungie were a bit iffy with the whole idea of stealthy gameplay, unless they mean you have to be unseen (behind cover) in order to survive?

Good day. I'm an active and fairly enthusiastic member of the Bungie fan-base and pride myself on many qualities. If you want to send me a PM, go right ahead. No I won't spam your inbox with group invites, I will respond in the best way possible. Thank you, and as I had opened, I'll close - good day.

Yea, I agree with you - I wish the AI weren't so damn smart =\ haha

And so there was a man who ate cake.

And he was happy it was that way.

It would probably be useful to quickly dispatch someone from a distance.

Imagine the Halo 2 Sniper Alley and being able to shoot multiple snipers without alerting the rest.

Eat raw meat.
Punch a bear in the face.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

I still won't trust them with the driver seat of the Warthog.

No, the Silencer is pretty much just for the sake of being awesome. Halo isn't Splinter Cell, it's Halo (Although a Halo stealth game would be freakin' sweet).

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

It does make you stealthy, the Covenant patrols on the other streets don't hear you and therefore don't come running in to save their friends. And just because it has a silencer doesn't mean the Brute won't notice his three Gunts fall over without half a face...

In a recent video, I watched the Rookie kill two Grunts, walked around cover and killed an unsuspecting Brute. If an ally dropped dead infront of you, wouldn't you try to find out how he died? I wouldn't, it could be Michael Myers or Jason.

The fight has been complete.... now get the cookies!

While we certainly share your enthusiasm for the return, we here at the Bungie.net community are mostly made up of snarky asses and jerks who will ridicule you for making a thread about something revealed months ago. We regret that your innocent intentions will almost certainly be replied with anger and sarcasm, and politely invite you to don your Flame-suit, because you just did the internet equivalent of jumping up the Construct lifts.

Shoot one grunt, hide. Shoot the second a little 2-5 secs later, again, then take on the Brute head on.
