In Halo 3 the melee is so over powered and there are so many 1 hit kill CQC weapons it tends to turn Halo into in fighting game instead of a FPS. People should not rely on the melee to get kill like they do now, but rather use it as a last ditch effort when all hope is lost. Many people in halo 3 have the melee as their top 2 TOD because of this.
Halo 3 without a doubt has the easiest and most powerful melee within the halo series. It has a super lunge and a almost auto lock. Many players become to rely on it like a crutch because it is so easy and powerful, plus the fact you spawn with it. Players wind up rushing towards one another just so they can use the melee even if they have the advantage of distance because melee is just so easy to use and powerful.
With the weapon selection, it seems as if majoirty of the weapons are close range weapons or weapons that lead to beat downs. Only 7 out of 18 weapons in MM fill the role of mid to long range weapons (BR, Carbine, Sniper Riffle, Beam Rifle, Needler, Laser and Pistol) and 11 weapons that can be categorized as close range weapons. That's over half the match making selection falling into one category.
With reach could you Bungie please take a step back with the melee and close range weapons. Make it so the lunge isn't so large, so you actually have to be close to the target to use it. Turn down the aim assist with the melee. Allow people to dodge it by ducking, and jumping away. With the weapons, space them out evenly through out the categories.
