Subject: Expanding the Covenant?

Touchdown! Hit it Marines!!

Posted by: llamalizard
If a Drinol/Sharquoi was it there, it would have to be VERY well implemented and thought out. As to why they'd use a living, vulnerable creature as a vehicle/building killer rather than something tough like a locust, I have no idea...

more pronounced differences between species would be good though. Brutes that actually looked BRUTAL, in terms of armour and weaponry. Hunters where the worms actually moved. Elites that actually look dangerous and not like constantly smiling hunchback, split-lip lizards like in Halo 3.

Grunts with armour that actually looks plated on more, that sound more like how they were described in the books. They'd shuffle around and make a few less funny comments, with a slightly deeper pitch. They would be seen in situations OUTSIDE of standing behind an elite for no reason - maybe pre-defined animations for certain areas, like a grunt carrying a motion scanner or a couple scouting through some trees on their own.

Jackals that are actually scary, and somehow reflect their mercenary heritage - maybe they could have a belt or bandolier with grenades or an energy garrotte on it. I'm reasonably sure that as mercenaries, they must have weapons OTHER than the covenant plasma pistols and needlers as well...

Prophets that looked more sinister then they currently do, but still regal - for example, Truth didn't look evil as such in Halo 3. He just looked like another alien. they could have gaunter faces or something, I don't really know.

Drones that act like a proper hive mind rather then independent creatures, and have armour of sorts that looks more like natural plating - the shield generator thingies would have cracks and stuff around them, to look like they were placed into the armour by force.

Just ideas, probably not the best ones.

THIS!!
The enemies do need more fleshing out and given more natural behaviours. The little custom animations in Halo 3 - like the Brutes picking up humans and torturing them were absolutely ridiculous. They weren't believeable for a second. Instead of creating new species, Bungie should give the existing species more abilites. The Suicide Grunt with the 2 plasma's was a great surprise. Instead of Jackals running scared when you get too close and their shields are down, have their Shield Gaunlet turn into a plasma dagger of sorts, and lunge at you screaching bloody murder! Maybe they knock you down and you have to defend yourself like the dogs in COD5 (I apologise for the COD reference) The worms of the Hunters should squeal and pour out of formation when you hit them in the back, staining the ground and squirming around.

I think that the number of Covenant species (+humans) reflects the number of "wings" on the Ark (one wing for each species homeworld), so I doubt we could see any new species.
IDK, could be just a little Bungie thing, but looking at it from the actual story, I remember seeing somewhere that the Forerunners didn't know about Covenant species or didn't favor them like humans, so why would they include them into their architecture?
Well the Forerunner indexed all species which exist in the galaxy at present, humans were just some of the last ones. Its possible (and likely, IMO) that they had another sentient race sec up as the "Reclaimers" but revoked their status and gave it to the humans when they proved more similar to the Forerunner

What? sorry i dont seem to have seen or read that info anywhere i thought that the forerunners were human that thousands of years ago eveloved and became advanced found the flood somewhere realised the danger it possesd if it ever got free on a galactic scale so the built the halos ark and shield worlds incase that happend which it did so some retreated to the ark while the rest died out firing the halo arrays the ones left are our ancestors which is why were the reclaimers?

p.s the halo arrays wipeout all life in the galaxy so how could the covenenat have been around when the forerunners fired the halos? and then still been around after?

sorry for the wall of tx english isnt my best subject lol

basiclly we are the forerunners the prophets new this fi you've read contact harvest and watched the cutscenes in halo 3 then you will hear truth confirm it.

we are the descendants of the forerunners that went to the ark. some how between the time of leaveing the ark and halo3 we had forgoetten who we were and started our evolvment again i.e we started off with spears and sharp tools and kept advancing up to a galactic scale and then came into contatc with the covies hence the war started leading to us finding our true past and history

We're not forerunners as such in the Halo universe. We're just...chosen by them.

The terminals kinda dispelled any humans being forerunner arguments anyway.

Humanity has been evolving on Earth for 2 million years, and the genus H0m0 came from apes. On Earth. If anything, the Forerunner are descendents from us (Precursors come to Earth, take up some humans, accelerate their evolution, they turn into the Forerunner sub-species, re-discover humanity and call us Reclaimers before mating with Archaic H. sapiens [which evolved 200,000 years ago) creating the moden H. sapiens sapiens [which showed up 100,000 years ago]).

Well the Engineers are not biological species, so they would have had no need to have been indexed (the Halos do not effect machines, and they are made of nanobots). The Prophets simply found them in Forerunner facilities and used them as tools.

The engineers of the covenant are biological. They use gas sacs to move around, they have those tentacles. Did you think he meant the sentinels? or somehting else.

I wouldn't like it. Although the Sharquoi and the Drinol seem to be canon, they could be put in.

Covenant Engineers, now they are officially in a Bungie game for the first time with ODST, will very likely be at Reach. I also wouldn't mind seeing more Prophets too, minor Ministers, perhaps researching relics; accompanied by the Honour Guard.

No, check out the Bestiarum. They are made of nanomachines which mimic biological tissue, but they are essentially robots. They were left in M-series Forerunner facilities and found by the Prophets and then became engineers in the Covenant.
