Okay, so you know how in some way there ARE elephants in ODST, but a couple of the developers said something slightly smaller?

"Hell, we could even commandeer the city's garbage trucks..."

Are you guys thinking what i'm thinking?

Discuss.

Just saying.

How is this old? Both of the seperate things are old, but no one ever suggested garbage trucks as elephant equivalents in ODST.

I do not recall ever hearing that lol.

Also, yes, elephants are too big. Garbage trucks, however... BWUAHAHAHA!

Revielle- A small community with the goals of making a difference for our members. We hope to bring together people of far distances, and many differences, into our community for long lasting friendships and new gaming experiences.

Nothing to discuss, wouldn't you think that the city would have its own waste management system, aka "keep it clean".

I'm jk, but who cares about the elephant or garbage trucks, just look at the enviornment your playing in, its a city. Not much room to do anything with heavy vehicles.

I don't mean during the free-world part of the campaign though. Once you've completed the clues/hints, the timelines align and you play a more linear campaign after that. What if that tower with the pelican pad they attempt to dust off from is heavily guarded? There could be a mission where you soup up a garbage truck with some armor, put a couple of turrets on it and defend it until you get there.

Seems plausible to me. Just as a 1 or 2 mission kind of thing, not actually able to do it the entire time.

It would have to be alot of sneaking or tatical fire fights, I'm just saying that if were talking about heavily armored covenant were talking about wraiths and banshees, and a garbage truck is not really going to help get through the front lines. Were talking about ODST's not spartans.

I can see them taking a garbage truck through a covenant blockade, thats realistic.

I'm thinking some sort of elephant, that has been repurposed for civilian use. (aka: fitted with a container and used as a bigass superintendant-controlled garbage truck) Just like the police pelican (which is awesome BTW, even if it does get shot down).

The E3 videos mentioned garbage trucks.

It is also possible that the garbage trucks being mentioned was an homage to the videos at E3.

Why aren't people thinking of the Shadow? The thing is the Covenant version of the Elephant, and was used during the assault on New Mombasa...

Thats what i meant. Not actually take them head on, just get through to somewhere quickly and without getting hit.

Maybe the Highway

maybe garbage trucks in the future are mini elephants

war often creates things which could be used in every day life

so its possible someone took the elephant design and adapted it to waste disposal.

[*Please note that anything in my posts is likely to be filled with sarcasm, and should be taken with a pinch of salt. I tend to help people, usually*]

It's very possible that the Military Standard Elephant has been integrated into the urban environment and adapted for use as a Garbage Truck. I mean, did anyone notice that the Pelican in the ViDoc had the word "Police" on the side?

As much of a humourous joke the Garbage Truck mention was, I think there's a little bit more behind it than what meets the ear.
