It's an Elite, man, save the picture and then zoom in on it, look at the legs, the plasma bolt in front of it, the helmet, and compare to the nearby Jackals.

Dude, the bolt could be from the Shield Jackals.

If it was from the shielded Jackals, then the bolt would be slanted, and explain to me how the bolt is at perfect waist-line with the "Elite", which is where the Elites fire their Plasma Rifles!

For the love of Peter, The so called Elite has a carbine. Not a plasma rifle. Get it? :P

No, since he isn't holding it right.

Last time I checked Urk is a forum moderate not a Bungie employee so if he said "No elites" that isn't enough proof for me.

Well from what I understand Urk works for Bungie or else he wouldn't be able to do the weekly updates, but from listening to a few podcasts a while ago Luke and Shihska seem like they have no idea whats going on behind the closed door of the ODST room. Im not saying that they are absolutely clueless, and im not saying that Urk is a little kid whom has parties at Chuck E cheese, but even though they said no Elites in ODST doesn't really mean that. Remember when they said no Lockout remakes but then out of fan crave they remade blackout, they also had to get rid of the Pimp Cheiftain so to measure it out maybe they added Elites to the scene. One final comparison is Recon, remember when they said you could only get recon through being a good community member or by doing something amazing and that was the only way you could get it and here we are a little bit over a year later and ODST is here. Or when they called it Halo 3: Recon and then they did the Name switch for ODST, a lot of things can change of the production of the game.

Also COB thanks for holding down the fort on this but I think this might be a fight we can't win, its like being in a trial and having all the posible evidence in the world against someone but that someone bribed the judge and jury.

Punch a bear in the face.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

I think it's a sniper Jackal. It's behaving kind of weird, but the way it holds that Carbine and how it ran towards that other player (I think the player moved out of sight, which would explain why the Jackal ran after him) proves to me that it's a Jackal (Plus you can see the plate on it's head).

Edit: To the above, they removed the Pimp Chieftains because it was a glitch. Nothing had to be "measured out."

Also you don't hold the Plasma Rifle at your waist. You hold it Chest to Shoulder. (Spartan Model)

Elites hold it near the chest, but above the very top of the waist.

Yeah. That proves that it's a Sniper Jackal with a Carbine.

@ COB Stephen Mit: A long time before E3, before Bungie said almost anything about ODST, they mentioned in a Weekly Update a glitch where a Chieftain wouldn't have a weapon and would slowly swagger towards you, then backhand you. So later, they posted a picture of a Chieftain with a fluffy purple hat and bling.

you don't seem to get it though, the Elite the other person was fighting is no the Jackal that the person with the camera saw a few seconds before getting hit with a gravity hammer. The elite had a plasma rifle and it held it right about the waist area or just a little bit above the waist, while the Jackal you encounter later on has a carbine.

notice how the elite holds the plasma rifle, watch the video and play in slow mo to see that it infact is shooting a plasma rifle as well.

Also I don't see a very large difference in height comparing a Jackal with a Carbine to a jackal with a shield. But I do see a difference with the Elite holding the plasma rifle and the Jackals closer to you, also when elites run don't they stand up straighter while the jackals kind of do a jog? especially when I see the Black by the Elites arm pit and leg area and then compare it to the other jackals armor. The elites armor is once again WHITE with black under the arms and on certain leg areas. while the Jackals armor is a brownish color.

I will say this,

After reviewing the video the Creature(Elite?) is holding a Carbine, the bolt came from the Jackels from the right. the Creature shoots 4 times(once after hitting the ground) before it runs towards Buck.

But im still saying its an Elite, the body is bigger no matter what time you take a pic, the white armor couldnt be lighting because once it starts running after Buck its still white.

Plus it was the same wave as the Chieftans.

Look at the Vid again. If you can't see the shot lines of the carbine, or the muzzle flash. I Loled.

At 2:14? That was a Jackal fighting BUCK. You could tell from the muzzle flashes that it was holding a Carbine. Elites generally don't have Carbines (none of them did in Halo 3) and Elites don't run like that.

At 2:28, there is a Jackal Sniper behind a crate a split second before the player is smacked with a hammer. You can also see BUCK smacking the Wraith. I'm guessing the BUCK ignored the Jackal to tackle the Wraith and that Jackal ran around to attack the player with the turret.

Halo 2 did, Elites ran around with them.

The only reason they didnt in Halo 3 was because the story didnt really go around the elites.

Yeah, I have this weird brain moments where at that moment I thought that "Elites hold Plasma Rifles a different way than Carbines, SO THAT CAN'T BE AN ELITE!!!" Yeah, I'm an idiot sometimes.

But that's still a Jackal.

You said he shot the bolt from the waist line, but Elites don't fire their weapons there. That proves that fact that bolt was from another Jackal. (Shield) It also had a tilt in the bolt like this "/" except from the other direction.

CopycatWYOMING, Your either blind or retarded, I'll admit at first it does look like an elite but if you look closer it doesn't look like one at all. This video footage is from Comic-con if there were elites why hasn't anyone mentioned them? I don't see why its so hard for you to understand if Bungie says it was a Jackal then it is a jackal, they don't just lie to to trick you and they weren't remaking Lock Out when they said wouldn't they just chose to change their minds to please the fans, but in this case its not like that they have been saying there will be no elites so get over it.

Now look at the video again the Jackal jumps from the dropship and lands Buck runs away and the jackal begins to shot his CARBINE then he sidesteps to the right, now the wraith was shooting at Buck with its turret thats why it looks like a plasma rifle, next if you pause it at the right time around 2:17 you can see its knees are the same as the shield jackals beside it watch it run and you'll understand.

5 years and counting on Bungie. I feel old and worthless.

They should be in ODST because in that time frame, the Elites were still a part of the Covenant.

Of course that's an Elite, because he has NO SHIELDS and he's AS TALL AS A JACKAL in that picture.

I really can't tell what it is, but the way it moves looks kind of eliteish to me. the real question here though is, why wouldn't they add elites? They've already taken out a bunch of enemy types by ditching the flood and I doubt there are going to be any sentinels in the game and now they want to get rid of the elites? At least the flood have a reason for not being in the game, but the elites are still a part of the covenant when this game takes place. In total we're only getting 5 types of enemies, Brutes, Jackles, Grunts, Drones and Hunters. That seems kind of light compared to other Halo games.

anybody have a link to this video? I'v not seen it and would like to at least pretend that elites are in halo odst. Why bungie continue to ignore their most threatening enemy is beyond me. Im sick of big friendly lizard men, and big dumb ape dogs. Grunts will never get old however.
