I bought Halo for the Xbox the day it came out, the single player + the multiplayer has made it one the best games ever. When Gamespy started the xbox tunnel (pre-Live), I played the multiplayer with hundreds of others online and it was the most fun I think I have ever had in a game. Myself and 1-3 other friends could play on one box and then organize teams to battle online with others who were doing the same. I recently tried the Halo for PC demo and played it online. Two major things stood out which I think hold this back from being a big title.

1. NO LOBBIES? We should be able to enter a lobby and select teams prior to beginning a match. Not only does is match more consistant but there is just more fun and gratification from beating a team from start to finish. No one likes to join a game that has 2 minutes left and your team is losing horribly. Gamespy uses this lobby technique in their Arcade and Microsoft uses it on Zone.com. Imagine playing Age of Empires without a lobby, where people can come and go as they please, it's just foolish.

2. People shoulden't be able to switch teams in a middle of a match. I can't believe this is the case. I have seen people switch teams to find the flag you have and possibly kill you or switch back and alert their real team. It's like a player of the NFL switching teams to look at the others playbook then going to tell their whole team about it. I think we can agree that there is no need to switch teams in the middle of a match.

3. (This may be a bit off subject) In Halo 2, please make it possible to have more than one person play one Xbox together, online. It's just more fun to play with your friends if your in the same room laying the smack down.

These things keep me from buying Halo for the PC.

If possible, and I know anything is possible for PC game, :) please fix this for Halo for the PC, but for god sakes, make sure that you make Halo 2 right!

Thanks.

I dont agree with you about having a lobby. While I understand where your coming from, Age of Empires is a totally different game. Check out every other online first person shooter, they all are join at any time. If it wasnt, by the end of most games their would be little or no people left. Also it would be a pain to get Peeps to join. With AoE you dont need 16 peeps, only 8 or less. By the time 16 peeps would join a game, most who joined first would have been waiting for a long time.

As to switching teams, I often switch teams to be on the same team as my friend. Even though some peeps are just plain cheap as you said, that is an issue for the server admin to take care of.

u shouldnt stop the team switching thing, I often switch teams but I only do it to even out the teams. its a bit too easy when you outnumber ur enemy team 2 or 3 to 1

Even with the current system the people have joined first have been waiting a long time before 16 people join a match. Getting together 16 people in a lobby that are willing to stay for an entire match is not hard, by any means. Not to mention that not all (I bet half) of the games played have 8 or less people.

In the lobby system there is no reason to switch teams. As you are forming a game you can set up to be on the same team as your friends, thus, there is no real reason to be able to switch in the middle of a game. It's just as easy to restart the match and would save a lot of hassle.

I have played Counter Strike, Battlefield 1942 and Unreal tourney. All good games but no where near the fun of Halo 1 for Xbox with Gamespys Arcade which used the lobby format. Your statement leads me to believe that you have never played it this way. Simply put it is just more fun.

I posted the lobby suggestion on the Gearbox forums, but they all hated it.
