Advantages you earn with skill. I don't have to perform well to spawn with rockets but I do to get rockets placed mid map.

Why would you need to unlock what weapon you spawn with? I would say if it was class based we would choose from preset classes balanced by Bungie. Available to everyone as soon as you pick up the game. No unlocks.

Yeah unlockables would only turn it into call of duty with some players having way better weapons than newer players. Preset balanced classes are the best way to go.

Upon seeing the thread I thought it would be a bad idea, but now that I know you don't mean custom classes I'm fine. I think that this would be a good idea, but they should still incorporate weapon placement on the map (no "Rocket Launcher" class, but have the ability to pick one up off the map) and allow options in custom games to disable classes and choose a default weapon, and maybe even an "Old-school" playlist where everyone spawned with ARs and picked up more numerous weapons on the map. If they had those, I'd be alright with it. It does sound like an interesting twist, though.

I like how you think but it would be very hard task to balance out classes because everyone would pick the sniper class or if not the sniper class then the BR class would really be a pain. The maps would need to be redesigned to so close combat classes would stand a chance, think about how many zombies you have killed? It might still happen though.

Snipers could be made less dominant by simply making aiming more precise, so it's harder to hit enemies. That way they'd have to take more time to line up shots, and it would cut down on snipers who only snipe because it's relatively easy in Halo.

The reason why I want classes is because the most annoying thing is when a lousy teammate picks up the only sniper on the map, or the enemy gets the only rocket launcher.

With classes, you don't have to worry about that because if there is an enemy sniper, boom you can spawn with a sniper and get him back, etc.

They should also make a large spread when shooting from the hip. So you can't no-scope all willy-nilly.

That's also a good idea, or even just remove the crosshair with the sniper when not zoomed in. Along with a large spread, that would make no-scopes rare and something to get excited about.

Large spread? Wouldn't that turn it into a shotgun?

No no, I just mean like the guy above me mentioned, when not zoomed in, the bullet may not go exactly into the centre of the screen where the crosshair would be. If there was no crosshair at all, it would probably serve the same purpose.

There are plenty of ways to balance stuff. Start by changing player characters to Marines instead of Spartans. There. Different set of skills.
