Subject: For People Who Don't Want Classes

Alright everyone keeps saying every other shooter on the market is class based. Really? Name three, other than call of duty, WHICH IS NOT THE GAME ANYBODY WANTS THIS TO BE. Most other shooters strive to be just like Halo. Nobody is forcing anybody to buy this game with theis own money and play it until their fingers bleed and they hate it. Those people can go on playing Halo 3, because that's clearly all they really want. Nobody pissed their pants when Halo Wars was announced as an RTS. They didn't have to buy it.

So PLEASE stop talking about COD classes because that is not what anyone wants.

Killzone 2 ,
Team fortress 2 ,
Battlefield,
Far Cry 2
Quake Wars ,

All you -blam!-es saying "DONT BUY IT!!!!11111" Are missing the point. I like the Halo universe. I like the backstory and characters. I just hate how Bungie refuses to change anything.

Too bad then. Read the Books and rent the games if you like the story and not the gameplay.

I am beginning to think that you are just afraid of change. Hell, this isnt a "Halo (insert # here)" its a whole new thing.

Why does everyone think being a fan of the current gameplay makes someone afraid of change? I've played multiple class based games and most of them are trash in my opinion because the gameplay is so boring after a while. CoD 4 gave me about a month of fun. Battlefield Bad Company was boring by the time I was done with the Multiplayer demo. I just find the whole class based system boring.

Yea, and the only reason I played Halo 3 for a year was because my cousin lived a long distance away and that was the only way we talked extensively. After he moved back close to home I stopped playing because I could just go over to his house and talk. After that everything about Halo started to repulse me. I hated every map, every game type, every person, every weapon, EVERYTHING. The last time I played was in action sack as to avoid the rank -blam!-s that invade every other play list. Even then I could not play for more than a few hours. I again became repulsed at the very thought of playing. The ONLY way I would ever play Halo MP again is if the whole thing was radically changed.

Oh well, its not like any of the people asking for change is even gonna make a difference. Bungie is a lazy bunch (retconning your own game so you can recycle enemies) and they will churn out more of the same. Hell, I even bet that Reach ends with a vehicle level where you ride through a corridor or on a platform while everything blows up around you.

Why does it matter? If you want class based it already exists. Bungie keeps thing almost the same because people like the same gameplay. I for one hope Reach ends with a vehicle run but give it a twist.

If Halo does have classes you'll have to meet Star Wars Battlefont's and Halo's retarded baby.

I am not for the classes however I do enjoy games such as Battlefield and RPGS.

I just think it would be a little awkward for Bungie, this being their last Halo game and all, why shouldn't they stick to the old game play?
They probably want one last Halo hit before they have to give it up.

I mean how would you feel if you were losing one thing you loved working on and you could only make 1 more continuation of it?You wouldn't want to try something new like that. You want to try and make it the best for the community who has come to love the game as a Pure FPS.

I hope it ends with that or some kind of Boss fight Like tartarus in Halo 2

No its because people are drones, mindless drones that get hooked on one thing and cant stop it.
You actually WANT a vehicle run? Now I know you are afraid of change. I was fine in the first Halo, but the one in Halo 3 was horrible. I know they were trying to be nostalgic, but it failed and made for one horrible level. Hell, one of the vidmaster achievements for ODST suggests that there will be ANOTHER similar level. There is NO reason for it to be in Reach.

As for ODST, I will be buying that because it is something different. Firefight is a really neat idea and I was very surprised that Bungie stopped wolfing down pizza long enough to think it up.

Now I know your're an arrogant prick. All you ever want is more. Bungie puts a lot of work into their games and their community support is amazing but yet you still want more. Not too mention your'e on their website insulting them. Seriously go away. We don't give a -blam!- about your anti-Halo attitude, go play something else.

If I'm a prick, you are an idiot child that blindly takes everything Bungie makes a devours it without even beating an eye. No way am I "anti-halo", quite the opposite in fact. I enjoyed Halo CE, Halo 2, and Halo 3(up until the last level), and as I said before I think ODST looks damn good. The only thing I am against is repetitive MP that does not change from game to game.

Sure, I could have used private chat but that would have been boring. Halo was really the only game (then) that both of us had so we just played that. Again, I dont "HATE" Halo 3. I "HATE" Mass Effect and I HAVE forgotten almost everything about it.

From Halo CE to Halo 2 it did somewhat, but the changes from 2 to 3 are tiny at best. Hell, the thing they changed most was the introduction of "equipment". This pissed the purists to much that Bungie removed half of them from EVERYTHING.

Yes he is extremely picky. There have been many changes to the gameplay since Halo CE and lots have been negative in my opinion but the games have always been good. I constantly criticize things I don't like about Halo so don't say I'm blindly following Halo. I just know what we have is plenty.

Actually they removed them because of things like radar jumping so no one could get to the cheapest places.Blame the community for it.Not Bungie.

They have also changed MP by the addition of weapons and grenades.
The Brute Spiker is equivalent to the SMG if not a little better. So now you can combat it without using the AR.
There was the Gravity Hammer that could dominate at close ranges beating the shotgun ad sword most of the time depending on who used it.
There was also Forge which had never been applied to the Halo games,Only Marathon which changed game play a lot because of the use of community maps.

There were also additions to vehicles which made you change how you played.
The Mongoose is tactical and fun,its small, and gets to places fast.
Chopper dominated anything small than itself and it did a good job at taking out a banshee as well.
The prowler was just a slightly remodeled spectre in my opinion however.

Then came the UNSC only option to fighting enemy air,The hornet which gave us two different variants of it as well.Transport which was horrible and normal which was sorta OP

There were differences.Trust me

Yeah..Halo CE was awesome.Old but awesome.

It took multiple beat downs to kill an Elite let alone a grunt xD in My opinion the games have been getting easier. It kinda annoys me but I still follow Halo because it is a great franchise with an entire universe behind it.

You mine as well be arguing with a brick wall because both of us can't be right. We are basically saying our opinions. We strongly disagree and no matter how long we argue nothing will be accomplished. I as least agree with what Bungie has done but give criticism, you are just insulting the developers.

How about no? The game needs to be designed around the classic Halo gameplay. Maybe they could have 1 playlist with classes.

They are not going to design a whole entire class system for Halo 3, then only use it in a tiny portion of the game. Also I find it hilarious that despite the OP stating specifically to NOT say "If you want classes go play COD or BF", that's exactly what half the people are saying. Also, the fact that there are no classes and highly dangerous weapons are left lying around, is what makes Halo, Halo. Adding a class based system would be needed if people were not playing Halo MP anymore, and it needed something really different from normal Halo (i.e.:
I again became repulsed at the very thought of playing. The ONLY way I would ever play Halo MP again is if the whole thing was radically changed.
(thanks for part of your rant Palien90!). However most people still love the current Halo 3 MP, unlike Palien90. So, what Halo needs is improvements on what it already has, without changing fundamental gameplay. For example, see this thread on how to improve , but not change, Forge.
(Also, I'm not advertising my thread, but it was the first that came to mind that was suggesting improvements and not changes. Sorry!)
