No classes.

Dont want call of halo.

Halo is not the kind of game to have classes in.

Ah, another person who doesn't read the actual post. I've already described you, you know.

Warning: You may find that my, or someone else's opinion does not comply with yours. Side effects of disagreement may include (but are not limited to): flaming, irrational behavior, broken keyboards, and/or nervous sweats. If you experience any of these symptoms refrain from communicating with others until the symptoms have subsided.

Everyone is afraid of change; they associate "Halo" with the original and if it is to different it is wrong. I can't think of a single thing people think that Bungie did right in changing the series, everyone thinks straight back to Halo: CE and says that everything about it was best.

I reckon bungie should implement class AND classless games in multiplayer, then if nobody plays something, delete it.

Donuts > all other food

The thing that makes Halo unique is that it's different from any other shooter.

It's a good thing Bungie knows what's right and wrong. I'm sure they will keep Halo the way it has been.

If all of these ideas on this forum were put in were put in (sprinting, cover system, classes, etc) then we would have Gears of Halo: Modern Warfare 2.

So, in the end:

NO!

  • 08.02.2009 5:22 AM PDT

We've already clearly explained that would not be the case. I agree with you however if all the ideas in this forum were put into the game. It would be a mess. And you said what makes Halo unique is that it's different. Well surely, even with another play style, Bungie would still make it unique.

  • 08.02.2009 9:37 AM PDT

Personally, I would prefer if Bungie stuck with the style of gameplay we have now. This is NOT because I dont think a class version of Halo, or some other version, wouldnt be good, but because I love how the current version of Halo plays out.

I believe the implementation of classes would limit the kind of diverse gameplay that Halo has achieved through the weapons layout, and use of the X, Y, and Z axies.

Im not saying it couldnt be good, but I think the way Halo is now is the way to go.

ODST isn't a stealth game. The silencers don't actually work and you really can't sneak.

I believe that Halo Reach should have classes. Which also affect the game play.
See in Halo 3 I have managed to get over 20 50's. It is just too EASY! I mean I think that the gameplay should be different for each character you pick. For example:Spartans are stronger but Elites are faster. You see what I mean?

Quixoticelixer might, but I probably will not fix your bike.

here's the thing.....you'd need serious weapon rebalancing. I don't want people spawning with snipers. Have you seen what people can do with that gun? up close, at range, it doesn't really matter.
That's just an example....but we'd need all new guns

They could always make the Sniper class have weaker health, high weakness to fall damage, and less motion tracker range, so they would be very vulnerable and discouraged to camp.

i guess making them die before i get no scoped could work. I'm just saying that I've had unspeakable things done to me by a sniper

It all depends on the skill of the player. They can spawn as a sniper and -blam!- people, but if you're really good at something else (such as BRing from long range, or stealthing it) you could spawn as another class, work your way up to him, and kill him. For example, the Recon class may have great agility so you could out-strafe the sniper, and would come with an active camo module to sneak up on him (sniper has low motion tracker so he has to constantly watch his back, taking away from the time he can be scanning the field), etc. etc.

weaker sniper classes? Halo multiplayer is about starting off with the same weapons, same speed, same health, and same weapons placement. Whoever wins is determined by who can use those to their advantage best. As I said, halo can be fresh without classes. You don't hear anything about cod gamers wanting shields. Cod is good enough without it. And you might reply "its because cod is better". Well that is your opinion and just because you think that doesn't mean halo should copy it.

Hopefully this will not be Battlehalo: Call of Halo. Yes I read your entire post and was hitting my head on my monitor the entire time. The idea of having players spawn with different weapons or spawn with different healths and weapons is not Halo. Bungie has not strayed from the MP they started in Halo:CE. Why would they attempt to change the winning formula on the last Halo game they are creating? It makes no sense. I'm glad you all can daydream of things which are illogical and impractical for Bungie to do, but don't get your hopes up.

Irony makes the strongest men fall to their knees!

Now I'm going to be fair and not base this on COD.

What makes Halo unique with it's system of starting with all the same weapons then finding better ones is that you never run out of ammo. I've been at points in TF2 were I have no ammo, and am hunting down an ammo crate. I had to stop and look for ammo, when in Halo I can choose to pick up an all new gun. Same thing with both Battlefront games and Battlefield games. (Even CoD but I'm not going to focus on that)

I've never had a point where I had no ammo, I mean if I could I would throw my gun at someone or just go bare knuckles and punch someone in the face, but I can't. Honestly somehow I have a feeling that if Reach had a class system that would slow down the pace of the game, and they may have to drop a lot of the weapons they have worked really hard on.

I think people have two problems:

1. They don't like change.

Everybody who plays Halo hasn't liked change from the original. Think, people complained about the pistol strength and lack of scope in Halo 2. They got used to it though. People didn't like the new melee system in Halo 3 (BOTH OF THEM!!!)

2. A possible "Halo Wars Incidident"

Hardcore Halo fans HATED Halo Wars. Casual players didn't care. The gameplay was just to different for them. So RTS fans came in to get it.

While number two isn't as big. But reason one is bigger. Probably everyone whose against classes problem.

group to talk about halo reach with no spam

Halo is one of the few shooters that makes people go out and pick up weapons and exercise map control. Class based gameplay doesnt make for those tricky situations where you need to go after big weapons to win the game.

Class based gameplay isnt halo if you want class based gameplay there are other games out their for you.

Let halo be halo and let it stand to be unique.

See one of the main inspirations for these ideas is stuff I've noticed in BF1943. Now whether you like that game or not, they have a very simple system, which is incredibly effective and fair. There are only three classes. They each have a primary weapon. Rifle, SMG, or Sniper. Every gun has infinite ammo. Which sounds ridiculous at first, except for the primary weapons it works rather well. Each gun is effective in it's own circumstances. The sniper isn't overpowered because it's a single-shot, instead of four like the Halo sniper. You have to chamber a new round every shot, and then reload the whole magazine every five shots. Now obviously that's not how it would work in a Halo game, but it's an example of how to make it possible. I just wanted to bold that for people who will jump on my back immediately for it.

Secondary weapons and grenades are also infinite, but you only have a very limited number before they go into a reload timer, and you're unable to use them again until that timer completes. Also the explosives have to be aimed more and adjusted according to distance and angle, something non-existant in Halo except with grenades. It and other explosion radii and such make things like rifle-grenades and rocket launchers not the ultimate power weapons you'd expect, but allow them to operate in more of a situational use.

Anyway, I'm rambling here. I just mean to say that some games have elements that work better than others, and a combination of the best ones, plus the ingenuity that Bungie always intergrates into their products could make for quite a fun gaming experience.

EDIT: And Sexy_Penguin, I never said people should start with different health or anything like that.

I find class based games to be garbage. One of my favorite aspects of Halo is the fact it isn't class based. I'm sure I am not the only person with this opinion. Why would Bungie abandoned certain parts of their fanbase just to please the over expecting part of there fanbase? Honestly it would be better to keep all their fanbase and just slightly disappoint the greedy fans who just want more.

I don't care if other people made a class based Halo but Bungie should stick with making good games.

halo wars wasn't made by bungie. You think hardcore fans care so much if different developers make spin offs? no. they could just ignore it and rely on bungie to make quality halo games. I like halo wars.I don't play it because I prefer it over halo 3. Its a totally different game. And maybe halo 1 was better than halo 2 and halo 3. If change is bad, then its ok not to like it.

Halo aint Halo because its a first preson, its Halo because of the story, plot, setting, and everything else except first-person.Halo Wars IS Halo because of that,so everyone stop complaining about Class based just not being Halo..

No not really. Halo wouldn't be played by many of its fans if it was not a FPS with the set up it currently has. Stop asking for more your'e going to -blam!- the series up.
