Subject: Machete for Reach?

Isn't that a dagger being held in the banner? I'm guessing that's a use-able weapon.

On the Halo 2 cover I saw Master Chief holding two SMGs and standing on top of some rubble with burning sky behind me, presumably on Earth, and that never happened.

Promotional images =/= gameplay.

Does anyone even read these?

It showed us that we could dual wield SMG's.

What would it run on, your own self satisfaction, How would it run out what happens when it runs out, and how would it effect gameplay

It wouldn't run out. You would also be able to throw it. It's a plausible idea.

No, no its not. And now you want to throw it as well? You are becoming a bit ridiculous now you know that?

You have a gun. And you would want to throw a knife? And its a one hit kill weapon that never runs out? Have you even sat down for a second and thought about how game balancing works at all?

The shotgun is the human melee ranged weapon. It is far more effective and balanced than any wimpy little knife is going to be.

Now now, no need to get nasty. In Halo 2's Multiplayer the Energy Sword had infinite ammo, that was fun, though I don't agree with throwing it.

Once you throw it, you cant use it again. You'll be killed by a long or midrange weapon eventually. I know how game balancing works. If halo reach has classes and vehicles, it will be unbalanced. Some people would spawn with rockets which pwn the vehicles. On second thought, throwing wouldn't work.

Glad you thought about it :)

Can you explain how a blade would cut through energy shields and Mark IV/V armor?

Maybe the humans found something what looks similar to metal but is much stronger on one of their colony planets.

I personally think this is a nice idea and wouldn't cause much problems. If you've read the 10th anniversary of Halo, than you most probably would have seen the pictures of the prototype MC wielding the sword, which you can find on the difficulty shield nowadays. "The Spartan Blade" could be a name for it :P

hope it gets included in Reach.

PS: Look on the banner, the second character from the right is holding something like a knife. But if you think of it could be hold in our direction (making it look far smaller) it maybe the sword...

If they make Halo Reach more like the books (i.e. Spartans are actually badass), I could see a Machete in the game. It would have to be effective only against non-shielded enemies ( Grunts, Jackals, Hunters) or enemies when their shields are down (Elites, Brutes). Next, it should not have "infinite" ammo. It could probably break, and then you would have a broken Machete. Next, no lunges. Maybe like a stronger slash, and a weak B button attack. It would make perfect sense, because it would be a good finishing weapon, or if you are doing some stealth moves, good for that too. But not "I haz a oen hti kll Machete!"
