Okay, I''ve played through the Halo 3 Campaign a lot. Multiple times on multiple difficulties. And you know, the Brutes are a pretty fun enemy but something was missing. The Elite's behavior is really unique, always rolling around, dodging everything. Brutes in Halo 2 and halo 3 never did that.

Then, I watched this video here.

Watch the video completely, pay close attention to the gameplay and in particular, the Brutes. Especially in the last minute of the video.

Is it just me or do the Brutes in ODST seem to act... differently. They are less like the Brutes from Halo 3 and more like the Elites, moving about, Dodging around. It feels freaky. I don't remember anything like that in Halo 3.

What do you guys think? Am I just crazy or do the Brutes really seem to act like Elites?

Don't you see? They're obviously Elites in Brute suits. It explains everything, in fact, there never was a species known as the Brute. It was all a ploy by the Elites to gain control of the Covenant. The Prophets thought they were in control, but they weren't.

I'll take that as you agreeing. :D

I wish I was still legendary.

Whilst not quite like elites, I like the way they actually make an effort to dodge now. And the jumping onto crates, like we were TOLD would happen in Halo 3 but never did (technically, we were told they would climb to get to you).

7 lines isn't long enough for a signiture! =P

Yes, Bungie have given the Brutes more tactics to use against the players in ODST

Woah there dude, why in hell the Elites would wear Brute suits? That's stupid.
I think the reason that Bungie may upgraded the Brute A.I for Halo 3 ODST.
IT'S just the same engine as Halo 3 but with some improvements.

Calm down, you ever heard of a joke before?

Anyways, this can only be a good thing. Less sticking Brutes from three miles away, and from the looks of it, less of those damn kamikazees! God I hate it when they do that!

  • 08.01.2009 5:30 AM PDT

That's because the Tough Luck skull is on.

That's because the Tough Luck skull is on.

The clip where the Brute is rolling around is in the Campaign, We don't know if the Campaign will have skulls in it yet.

Most of those scenarios were in the open world city.

Even though I knew you were joking, I was totally like "You know... it actually would be pretty cool if it was like that."

  • 08.01.2009 5:39 AM PDT

Could it be that the player has the visor on and therefore shows up?

  • 08.01.2009 5:49 AM PDT

Maybe, they act differently because un Firefight the Though luck skull is always on

  • 08.01.2009 6:16 AM PDT

Snakie Purple.

"Hamdog, Hamdog, Hamdog, Hamdog"-Hamdog.

Twatter

They have had a few upgrades. Now, the shield flares, and all enemies and allies have had a big A.I boost to make them smarter. This is probably the upgrades taking good effect.

Can you believe it?

Brutes will never be like elites until they start making cool noises when they die.

  • 08.01.2009 6:31 AM PDT

Does anyone even read these?

Honestly, they seem like the same old dumb Brutes to me. Sure a couple of new moves may have been added in but they still the same.
