I'm trying to go through all 150 pages of the Septagon forum and collect any ideas that hold substance to trying to improve B.net. So far I've only covered a fraction of the total amount of pages, but here's what I got so far:

(Didn't include the thread to this suggestion because, besides this suggestion, the rest held no substance)

Warn people before banning/suspending them.

I don't know how to improve it. It's already the best!

I'm not that active, but never dead.

Though some of these are good, some are just never going to happen. Oh, and Celenon, I can't believe you went through all 150 pages....you're a better man than I am. I'm way too lazy.

Warn people before banning/suspending them.

They get all the warnings when they read the user agreement. There are also stickies all over the place. Finally, the Mods just don't have enough time to play babysitter with everyone. If you're blacklisted, it should be pretty obvious why they were.

chris547 basically explains why this won't happen. Besides, some old topics are good.

Pruning defeats part of the purpose of a search tool. As for locking old threads, it's really not that big of a deal and some threads are actually worthy of being bumped with new information.
That about sums it up.

The seach feature will basically solve this problem.

Great Idea, it's added.

Another good idea.

Connect XBL messaging with Bungie.net messaging? (Backed by Recon)

Good idea, but will be very hard to implement, as Recon demonstrated.

Another good idea, but I think contributing is a better title than 'elderly'.

B.net Profile Overhaul

Most certainily impossible to implement, but some of the ideas by themselves might work.Added.

I renamed the title to what chris547 was talking about in the topic.

Nice of you to do that, but things take time. Maybe Bungie will take those links that you have written down and save them for future things to work on. Its just the time issue though.

First of all, sorry for making another post, but I thought this was funny.

I've just posted a link to this thread in Igni Ferroque so it might catch Shishka's attention.

So I see his post, I go to Igni, and this is what Shishka writes back.

Another Idea I Have:

This is minor. I wish when editing our signatures, making news, creating resources, etc, it would say how many chars we have left, just like the way it is formatted in the forums.

It would help - for example, if I was in the middle of making a news story and I got the error message "You have exceeded your character limit (or something like that)", I would have to go the forums and see how many characters I would have to take away. It would save time.

Edit - Sorry if that's already posted here.

For the warning before getting blacklisted idea, I only included that because some people would get blacklisted for no apparent reason. If this is indeed a recurring glitch, then you can know when you're officially blacklisted when you recieve the PM from a Mod.

And the elderly thing was just a joke. Anyone who's been on this site over a year should start using "whipersnappers" to refer to new members.

Good idea. I think it would be very helpful. Especially for signatures.

Sticking with the topic of signatures, i think that the character limit should be slightly increased. to allow me to get more groups in it.

When I was new, I joined a bunch of dead, closed groups. So now, my group limit is about 18, instead of 25. I wish they would raise the limit to 35 or something.

Do you honestly think that you can be active in 35 chapters? I struggled with 25 and even then, 3 of them were dead. so i guess it was 22.

The only places I post in are The Septagon, The Flood, and my Groups. Maybe 35 is too much. But my limit is still small. =\

They are closed groups. And since they were dead and the administrator was inactive, it thinks that I am still trying to join the group, which lowers my limit.

...Which also makes me think that groups should be deleted if they are inactive. Even if they have three members, isn't it a waste if no one has posted in it for months?

Maybe we need some kind off new system for deteriming weather or not groups survive. I think that if tehy haven't been active for 6 months they should have their group deleted.

There are now two threads asking for a Clan Members tag detailing weather or not clan members are online. Here is the 2nd one.

Big threads don't necessarily become sticky...
And once again, this is a single thread trying to do what this whole forum is meant to do...
It might work as an index, but that would only work if the number of posts that get put in it are limited. For example, Sticky locking it and then having Mods put in it when something new pops up...

Ballison VIII PM'd an idea to me. Whether it has subtsnace to it or not, I'll let the masses decide:

"organising classified by continents, no other countrys can build a (uk only clan) if america is bombarding the classifieds, also a split in the american section, with each time zone (for lan partys) surly this could only improve and make it harder to make a new topic for the same clan, all the time, as they would have to go into each sperate time zone"

Yes, the entire Septagon forum is dedicated to the improvement of Bungie.net. Unfortunately, especially with new members, that fact is either forgotten or blatantly disregarded, thus throwing the Septagon into chaos, instead of the intended, "stable environment." So, with the intention of keeping that stability while also improving Bungie.net, Alex has intelligently created this thread as a, "home base," so to say, for ideas and suggestions to compile, and hopefully improve Bungie.net without the chaos factor.

Now, will this thread become sticky? Who knows, but that wasn't the initial intention of this thread; the initial intention was to, as you said, "work as an index," for the site's well-being. From here on in, though, we can only hope for the best.
