"Apparently people don't like the truth, but I do like it; I like it because it upsets a lot of people. If you show them enough times that their arguments are bull-blam!-, then maybe just once, one of them will say, 'Oh! Wait a minute I was wrong.' I live for that happening. Rare, I assure you."-Lemmy of Motorhead

Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

INthe vidoc that was probably because they were watching the Grunts fall. Attack a lone enemy and they probably won't find you.

Go Rams and Missouri!

They really don't change gameplay (in the ViDoc, Buck just said that because he was in character talking about the weapons), but they don't make much sound, helping you feel like you're alone in the city a bit more.

*Facepalm* Because your not MC so you can't go running around shooting things up. You have health not sheilds. And its at night also none as a recon mission. Think of it as COD 4 with soap. I mean if you find a bullet in your friends head and he falls flat on the ground and you didn't hear it your not just gonna stand there. And you can tell where they got shot by the way there head tilts.

Actually, I am doing the facepalm right now because the silencers have been confirmed to have no gameplay effect in Halo 3: ODST.

Did you even read the first part. At all. What about the COD 4 part. You got to be kidding me.

What about it? CoD4 is not Halo 3 ODST. Completely different games.

It's just cosmetic.

If you do it right then you won't be noticed. but that can be acomplished without silencing. Scilencers just make it so your weapon dosen't get attention by sound or visuals.

So what you guys are saying is if you don't hear a bullet and you see your friends head tilt back with a bullet hole in his head does that mean you'll just go back to what your doing.

Are you retarded? Nobody is arguing whether its realistic or not. Believe it or not, this is a video game, and realism can be sacrificed for gameplay. OP was asking whats the point of silencers; the answer is there isn't any.

Finish.

Why the hell don't people use meh?

And the point of this thread? No offense but the point of the guns is to make it feel more stealthy and oh yea don't forget the most important thing about them.............. You're supposed to SHOOT your enemies with them not randomly fire and listen to the sound of it

  • 08.01.2009 11:31 AM PDT

Have any of you ever played the mission "All Ghillied Up" from CoD4? You have a silenced sniper rifle in that one.

If you take out enemies that are by themselves, no one else notices. If you take out one enemy that's right next to other ones, the enemies catch on to the fact that someone's shooting at them. There's no reason that this would be any different in ODST.

  • 08.01.2009 11:33 AM PDT

You are trying to be "the strong, silent type" as said in the vi-doc
