Go Rams and Missouri!

A little less than a year ago, Bungie did say that they didn't view it as a $60 title and they said its campaign is 3-5 hours long. However, since E3 we've seen the game and Bungie has stated multiple times that the project grew incredibly ambitious and the game became more than they ever imagined. I wouldn't be surprised for ODST to have a 10 hour+ campaign. Microsoft, like any good company, likes to earn money, but they don't want to rip off their fans. While it was deemed as a standalone Campaign expansion, Microsoft evaluated the game and thought there was enough content to warrant the cost. With Firefight, a campaign longer than we know, 3 new maps for Halo 3, as well as access to the Reach Beta in 2010, and I'm sure the single-player will be more replayable than Halo 3's. So please, stop whining about the price. Microsoft may be stretching the price by 5 or 10 dollars, but there is enough to content to warrant a high price.

The universe is probably littered with the one-planet graves of cultures which made the sensible economic decision that there's no good reason to go into space--each discovered, studied, and remembered by the ones who made the irrational decision.

/facepalm

wishful thinking at best. The reason the price went up is because microsoft decided $40 dollars was too low and wanted to re-sell halo 3 to loyal fans who already have supported bungie. The price increase is due to the inclusion of the second disc.

I've been playing Halo since 2002. My earliest memories include hiding at the shotgun window on Damnation and killing my dad with grenades while playing co-op on Pillar of Autumn.

Wait, we have to wait for the Reach beta to be released after we get the game?

Yes, you will not be able to play the Halo: Reach beta as soon as Halo 3: ODST is released. Chances are the beta will probably be released in early 2010 (just a guess).

First, what's $20? If you work minimum wage, you get that in 3 and a half hours of work. Second, I doubt that the complete MP experience on disc two factored any more than $15 into the price, 10 for the brand new maps, and maybe 5 for the other stuff. The real bulk of the price is coming from Campaign and Firefight. Campaign will be fairly long, and the Firefight mode will have a lot of replayability (unlike a game mode like Horde) because maps are tailored for the mode and waves are random, adding spice and variety.

-Halo is Our Generations StarWars

before agreeing with you im gonna say that i already payed off my pre order so im getting the game - but your right its a giant rip off for loyal fans who already purchased halo 3 as well as paying for ALL the maps, im basiclly rebuying 20-30$ of stuff again

Why the hell don't people use meh?

Well i still go for the 5-8 hours of the flashbacks and walking but if u now look at it you could easily expand the time of the campaign by Exploring the city instead of charging after the achievements/recon and what else there now is believe me i got a whole day to spend in Mombasa

I could afford odst, but why pay double for something I already own? If I never played halo3, then ODST would be the best deal ever, I get ODST and all the halo 3 map packs. Though if you are 90% of the community, you already bought them, not to mention the halo 3 disc to most people is pointless.

Honestly dude, don't even bother.

These guys, no matter what you tell them, truth or lie, will always fallback on the same thing.
They're idiots who can't accept they've been proven wrong, no matter how many times or how much proof is against them.

I've given up. You should too.

Yeah, they probably haven't even rendered the Spartans for Reach yet. :P

It probably depends largely on how long you take to explore New Mombasa in between the flashback sequences. I'll be taking my time, and admiring the setting, but others may rush through, which will shorten the experience a lot.

  • 08.01.2009 11:35 AM PDT

Don't count the Beta in the price. Halo 3 Beta came with Crackdown and that was free.

  • 08.01.2009 11:37 AM PDT

apparently you dont know what we are paying for.
5-6 hour campaign (they say its less than halo 3 but more than the previous mention 3-5 hour)15-20 dollars depends how long it is
firefight 5-10 dollars
heroic map pack: 10 dollars
legendary map pack: 10 dollars
mythic map pack 10 dollars
mythic map pack 2 10 dollars
halo 3 muliplayer 10 dollars

now lets do the calculations ok 40 dollars we already have 40 dollars of it and they are making us repay for it. dont post this stuff when you dont know what we are paying for. people will say again and again that they are screwing the loyal members over because they are making rebuy the maps. i dont care about price its halo i will get it but it shouldnt be a full game price.

Campaign - $40
Firefight - $10
3 New Maps - $10

That adds up to 60, right?

I think it's going to depend on how long it takes you to get from point A to point B in the city. Plus depending on your difficulty settings.

Unless you're just super stupid and you can't realize that. :D Anyway, ODST, I agree, isn't worth $60, but hey I really do still want what is in it, besides the second disc, I just want the maps and ODST itself, but whatever, I take it either way...

I don't understand the price complains. Most games these days cost $60. It's been like that ever since Next Gen games started... 4 years ago...

Actually, games priced at $60 dollars began in late 2006. Before that, new games usually costed $50.
