i know there are all these things that add time to the game, but really it comes down to i want to prove there is enough at the very core of ODST to prove that it is worth it. adding these in makes it sound gimmicky when you are trying to convince people who feel ripped off.

Well playing on a harder difficulty will obviously increase your playing time.

always does. but we are going for an average here. not making the game look gimmicky

Didn't bother to read through everything. I'll just say it here.

There are 6 Flashback missions, all bridged within the Hub World. After completing those missions, there still will be 2 more missions to end off the game.

i totally think its worth $60, or for us UKians £35-£40, ive pre-ordered mine from Amazon.co.uk for £30 so i dont care if it were a full game or not, £30 for me is bargin for a brand spanking new game thats not even out yet.

Your forgetting the extra collectable mission that's the Rookies to uncover "clues" and solve a "Mystery"

If only we had Scooby doo.

I TOLD YOU DOG!

I TOLD YOU MAN

I TOLD YOU ABOUT STAIRS

Don't forget the time it takes to discover and collect each collectible (skulls, "audio logs," etc.) as well as playing co-op campaign with friends.

i'm not talking total play time, just the first run through of the campaign. othewise it sounds like we are trying to hard to sell it to them

I'd love some sources proving the 9 hours you calculated.

Congrats on completing the first grade, dip -blam!-! If only your parents loved you. -blam!-
ok well first i thought i had already referenced these sources in the OP, but here you go

The Length of each mission was labelled as one hour in both an early weekly update this year as welll as in gameinformer.

I would link to the leaked achievements but i don't want to get banned. they are all over you tube

As well if you want to hear him say half hour to reach the missions watch the videos where they demo the first mission. Joe Staten says it every time they are about to use their build in 'cheat'

Although this thread won't completely kill off the "Why is it $60?" Threads, but hopefully it will reduce their numbers.

You, sir, are a genious.

93% of statistics are lies. Formerly Xfire Grunt. Unfortunately, you can't change the WLID for your BNET account, so I had to create an alternate account. My other WLID was spam city (and it was my e-mail account too).

A 9 Hour campaign is worth $60 if and only if .... the game has a fully functioning multi-player. Not to mention Halo 3 supposedly had a 12 hour Campaign that took me 7 hours on Legendary.

Halo 3 ODST does not have a fully functioning MP, and thus is not worth $60. By the way, don't say movie games. They might release for $60, but a month later they are $10 at the Bargain Bin. AAA titles are what I am talking about.

this is in your opinion, as it stand the MP is not needed to sell the game. Force unleashed is prime example of this with a rated 7 hour campaign and no multiplayer. It was a AAA title that sold for $60.

so no it doesn't need the MM to be marketed. this is all about appropriate marketing, not opinions on appropriate marketing

That game got a 7.0 rating and didn't sell much more then a million copies. Not a AAA title at all.

Name one game that sold more then 5 million copies and didn't have a campaign longer then fifty hours, or a multi-player this generation. Too bad, because you can't.

Also Star Wars TFU was down to $30 in a few months. Most games that are overpriced go down in price in about one or two months, not something that i see happenning with ODST unless it sells really badly.

Bring Back Headlong!
Best Halo 2 Map Ever!

The game will be worth the price im sure :)

it released as a AAA title. the AAA is not defined by the result but by the production cost.

also Halo 3 sold more than 5 million copies with less than fifty hours of campaign, as did almost all of the CODs

Spartans are from Venus and Elites are from Uranus

I doubt ODST's campaign will be nine hours. Regardless, like you said a full retail game doesn't need a multiplayer or even a long campaign to make up for the lack of a multiplayer. There a ALOT of game out there that don't have half the amount of content ODST has - Halo 3 multiplayer included or not. So while it would be nice to have ODST at a cheaper price(like everything else in existence) it's not at all unfair that ODST is at full price. This is no where near the rip off people are making it out to be.

Thou hast been out BR'ed and now wilst feast most succulently upon my bageth of tea

I would pay 60$ for ODST without a doubt. firefight and the campaign both look amazing. if it is anything at all like the other halo games (which it is) then i will play the campaign multiple times through and it comes with 3 maps...why wouldnt it be 60$

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

I still think it's going to be quite short. Halo's been making a tradition of that since Halo 2.

short and less than nine hours isn't the same thing. 9 hours is still a pretty short game...
