Master vehicles? Vehicles are the easiest things in the game to master, you can master every vehicle in the game in a couple of hours, easily. That's why they are frowned upon, they are too easy. And I don't know the rules on using the word n00b but it was used several other times in this thread so I used it as well. If someone is acting like or sounding like a noob, they deserve to be called one don't ya think? :) Anyways I'd think Bungie would try to make Halo more to the liking of the great players who go out and play in tournaments and advertise Halo daily than to the players who just play split screen, spend 50 bucks on Halo and never another dime. Just my opinion but I think like everyone else thinks, the players over at MLG who are the top ranked in the world.. their opinion is more important than anyone's here, including my own.

Oh yeah the word "n00bs" is in the thread title, so I think if anyone should be told the rules it's the person making the thread.

If been called a n00b means that I get to have fun with my friends instead of been all serious then so be it! Cheer up a little, it isn't all about winning, its about having fun.

My favourite level is a 4 vs 4 (or 8 vs 8 if possible) CTF on Sidewinder or Blood Gulch. Respawn time at 10 seconds and respawn growth time at 5 seconds. Weapons set at Normal (or Human) and Player settings at Normal (100% health and shields on). Motion trackers off and all vehicles on. Its a great game, but I don't play it too often so I don't get bored.

Oddball is great, but it can seem a little bit like "get behind me so I can protect you" scenario if its teams. When its a FFA then once you got the ball then you've to constantly run round to keep the ball, rather than sitting in a corner and surrounded by your allies.

Shaded Halo, I see your point. I started this thread to get both sides of the story. And it is true that 1v1 l337s don't even go for Rockets. There is a video up on MLG of a 1v1 on prisoner, and a 1v1 on wizard, and the Rockets weren't even touched!

As far as playing on Oddball and people not knowing what it is...

Its sad to say but I know people who have had the game since launch and didn't know what Oddball was when I invited them to my LAN.

Oddball is a fun game, it can be very exciting. I myself prefer KOTH over Oddball in the games outside of TS and CTF, for one reason. With Oddball it is too easy to use glitches in order to get out of the level or to hide and hold the ball for 5 minutes, which turns out to be a boring affair at LAN parties.

Oh yeah oneshot187 I'll bet one reason nobody used the rocket on Wizard is because Wizard doesn't have a rocket launcher. :)

its not for noobs. it can be very challenging with experianced gamers like myself. i was playing ctf online for xbox and holy hell. 2 vs 2 and it took about 30 min to get one capture. hehe We won 3-0.

the best players use whatever tactics win, not whatever tactics show their skills. if vehicles allow me to win, then i will use them. after i beat "pros" with vehicles and they claim i'm a noob because i did that, i ask them who won. also, i agree with the moderator, if you don't like vehicles it's likely because you can't use them well enough to be effective. and it baffles my why no one would pick up rockets in a 1v1 match. rockets would make the game go faster and it would show who has the best map handling skills as well as who can manage the ebb and flow of respawns to find their prime time of action.

and in case you are wondering, shadedhalo, i'm not a pro, i'm a winner.

I would just like to give Kudos to the creator of this thread. It has turned out to be probably the best thread yet! We have people agreeing, arguing, whining.....it's just so beautiful! I personally dont care what settings, or maps are used when I play. As long as everybody has fun thats all that matters. I think the main problem is that people forget this is a GAME! I too sometimes forget because I am very competetive in everything I do. But in the end, was anybody really hurt? JUST HAVE FUN PEOPLE! {:()

It is the most played game type. And yes a lot of n00bs play it. on the other hand it is good training grounds . You can use all vehicals and wepons. I play on xbc and havent hosted it in a year unless asked but if i join i will play it,its halo the whole game is fun. I would say just to trying new things.

ShadedHalo, sorry about that mishap about Wiz! I don't know what I was thinking.

Anyway, I love KotH, but sometimes I wish there was a better scoring system for it. Like the more people you have in the hill, the faster time goes. Instead, we just have one guy in the hill and the rest outside of the hill defending.

I guess this is a heated topic. Basically there are 2 followings. I just hope that the 2 separate groups (Those who love BG CTF and those who wont play it) will be able to mesh in Halo 2.

I remember the first even game of Halo I played was 6v6 on BG CTF with Hogs, CTF Pro setting. For that reason alone I went out and bought Halo. LANing with my college buddies is a lot of fun and we play CTF on BG and Sidewinder alot (brings back memories), but more recently I have urged them to play on other stages like Dammy and HeH.

Anything to keep the game fresh until November 9th! But once I show them the video of FFA vs StK on Longest, I have a feeling we will be doing that alot!

I hate people who only play Slayer, Team Slayer and CTF! My friend who first got Halo and got me and my other two friends into it enough to buy an X-Box and a copy of the game only has those three gametypes. Me and my friends however have loads of gametypes... Games where you have to kill targets in order, Oddball games where you have to kill people to become it, race gametypes... EVERYTHING! Like someone said "Variety is the spice of life"
Anyway back to the topic. I play BG CTF a lot, I like the gametype... I wouldn't call myself a N*** because of it. Its fun and can be challenging if both teams have excellent teamwork!

Yes, much like you my first Halo experience was CTF at BG, it is pretty much what you play when you're a new player and I understand that. I simply meant that after you've played a while, try new things, I loved CTF BG when I was a n00b but now that I've been playing a while I know there is much more to the game and much more competetive and fun things to do. I believe this is what the players at MLG mean.
