"You got 2 years of cl1t deepening you mean?"
"Uh. Wut?"
"..."
"Do you know what a cl1t is, dear?"
"LAWL SO SIGGING THIS -blam!-!"

Hey guys I've been watching alot of the ODST videos lately and namely the first gameplay footage. One thing I noticed is that the player was blatantly standing in the middle of the road (I know it is dark but still) and the Brute just didn't notice him at all until he was fired upon.

I was just wondering if that is the whole basic stealth aspect of the game, where the enemies can essentially not see you until you are in their faces, guns blazing.

What do you guys think? Or have the AI had an overhaul in terms of vision?

Well, bear in mind that visibility is poor at night, and that the ODSTs have what is essentially Night-Vision.

I speak the truth, and truth speaks itself.
The lies disguise what you despise.
Run. Flee and be, what you've always dreamed.
What happens now won't matter later.
What you see will not be, nor what you imagine will not happen.
The end is close, so take your dose.

Just shut up and play the game. +_=

You know those days where you wake up and you just don't want to get out of bed? those days when you drag your feet across the floor like a zombie? yeah, I'm having one of those days.

did the brute have his head turned? because alot of times the brutes see through his eyes and not the chests like most games...if his head is turned looking the other way for a second he wont see you...

Ok - I'm just saying that he was standing right out in the middle of the road where, even in the dark, he could be seen pretty easily as there was also grunts aswell.

"I'm afraid of the man I'll become if I lay my life down for the people I don't even care for"

Well, maybe the biology of brutes and grunts are different to humans. Maybe its quite defficient during night times.

Who knows?

Just shut up and play the game that is not released yet, and therefore is impossible to play?

Go Rams and Missouri!

I'd assume that brutes don't have night-vision built into their eyes. They just can't see you unless they are staring right at you and know you are there. Once you fire, they'll start looking and they'll spot you. Anyway, they will see you just as easily as normal during the daytime flashbacks.

why are you looking at this?

i agree with you, but the same thing happens when you are playing the very beggining of the ark on halo 3.

-Wally17 (formerly Wally16)

Is it always night time in this game except for the daytime flashbacks, because that would not make sense? It would be cool if you could fight out in the open and stuff at night, but you would have to be more stealthy in the day time, such as hiding in buildings and staying out of sight and stuff like that.

You obviously haven't played the last bit of the Ark. You think someone would wake up and notice you from all of the death screams, but obviously not...

NO GROUP INVITES!!!

Stealth in ODST.... Remember what Bungie is oft saying: ODST is not a stealth game (like Splinter Cell, its still Halo FPS but with different approach (or something like that...)

It seems to me that, based on all the available gameplay footage, the suppressed weapons are not really suppressed, you cannot kill an enemy with head shot from automag without alerting other enemies. The suppressors just modify the sound, giving the game a new feel while using them (the "feel" is important, it tricks the brain and keeps you happy o.O).

But also, it seems that the enemies don't notice you so easily as they do in Halo 3 (I tried to sneak past a brute, behind some crate, i hear the brute yell: "DEMON!", so much for stealth)

I'd say ODST is not so much as a stealthy game but its rather more TACTICAL due new gadgets and weapons and being just a normal human when playing as ODST.

I am a Halo 3 Failure.

It's night time and you're wearing pitch black armor, I think it'd be hard to see.
