what do you guys think about scarabs in campaign, firefight, or just odst in general?

first off with the guys who're gonna shoot me up with facts, "ther waz only 1 scarbz in new mombosa lulz", i don't want that. i want to know what you think based on the type of game it is. do you think since your not a super soldier, you shouldn't have to take down such an uber unit? or do you think that battling a scarab would be a perfect flashback or final battle or firefight wave? maybe a wave where you get really far and it starts to get really hard and BAM... scarab. i smell a vidmaster somewhere in here?

No that's not a Vidmaster, but Scarabs are just an annoyance.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.

No, scarabs sometimes are annoying and get boring.

Well.
Throughout the series MArines and ODST's have always had unlimited ammo against Scarabs.
And everything else.

So, if I get Infinite Ammo, as I expect?
It should be simple! <3

Vae Victis!

I would love to have Scarabs in Firefight, but I don't think they'd work in campaign (didn't Regret only have the one? I know there was mention of another downed Scarab in the H2 map Turf).

Seeing as how apparently Truth managed to transport troops over to New Mombasa relatively quickly (Like he was expecting everything to fail), I could see Truth's reinforcements having Scarabs.

I expect at least one Scarab in the campaign. None in Firefight.

Marine Corps.
Semper Fi.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

What? If I'm not mistaken, you seem to think that Covenant forces move around the city based on where UNSC forces are. They own the city. They are everywhere.

I have no idea what you're getting at.

I believe that the covenant wouldn't waste resources like a scarab on a city that is basically already theirs. So therefore I don't think that there would be any in the campain, but I would really like to see a scarab in Firefight, like really deep into it when your starting to lose your edge, just to keep you frosty.

I think we misunderstand each other. From what I remember from Halo 2, Regret came to Earth with a Two Carriers. One Carrier, the one Regret was on, immediately went to Earth. I believe the second one was tasked to deal with the Orbital MAC stations discretely (The Whole Boarding with the Bomb thing). This carrier got destroyed when the Chief brought Cairo Station's bomb into its reactor, leaving only Regret's Carrier left.

From what we understand, Regret came to Earth with only Elites. This seems to be supported by Bungie. Halo 2 happens in this time. Chief takes down the Scarab...blah blah blah. And Regret Jumps. Slipspace Rupture. Chief and In Amber Clad follows them in. Our ODSTs get the mission effed.

Now here's the problem. According to the link I had earlier, Bungie states that Truth deploys Brutes as well. We have reason to believe that prior to Regret's Jump that all Covenant troops at that time were evacuated: No one was left behind.

As shown in the video,
Dare says "Latest Intel reports that Covenant Troops are amassing beneath the carrier"

So, yes, its true. Regret jumps with everyone else. Meaning that there is possibly no more Covenant troops left in the city.

However, if you've seen the ViDoc (If you haven't, stop reading and do so. What the hell is your problem?), you'd remember that extremely scenic scene with the dude coming out of the Drop Pod with the Blue Vapor around him. You'd also remember that scene from the Superintendent's point of view, which the Pod crashing around. The Blue vapor is still there.

That vapor is seemingly from the EMP blast. Meaning that, it occurs not too long after the jump. And already, the Brutes are there.

We've gone from a state where from Covenant occupied city, to Covenant troops being pulled back to different Covenant troops, now from Truth, in the city.

Whatever happened in Halo 2's Earth levels ended when Regret jumped. As seen in that BWU link I supplied earlier, As Regret jumped from Earth, Truth deployed his own Brutes to clear the mess. This is also when our ODSTs drop in. A fresh new set of Covenant baddies have just been deployed and the game's flashback scenes probably involve the beginning of the occupation of the Covenant.

Wow, trying to explain what I said involved me doing an extensive write up on that event. That felt awesome! :D
