And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

the veto system is good, however it's really annoying when a) you get a crappy map and a good gametype (or vise versa) and b) when you veto something and get something worse. so i have a simple idea to make the veto better.
This is very similar to Gears of War 2's system, which is superior to halo 3's. You get given two maps and two gametypes to choose from. RT would select map (A), while LT would select map (B). RB would select gametype (A), and RB would select gametype (B). each player can choose one map and one gametype.
From what I understand, this would be a fairly simple system to implement into halo: reach, and would drastically improve the veto system.

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

Bungie didn't want to use CoD4's sniper system. I doubt they will use this system, but your idea sounds pretty good.

But if people vote 3 for map A and 3 for map B for example you still have a chance to get a map that's worse then map A and B.

that's a good point, but there are ways around it. in the situation of a tie, a winner could be chosen out of the two, rather than a different map, for example

Warning: You may find that my, or someone else's opinion does not comply with yours. Side effects of disagreement may include (but are not limited to): flaming, irrational behavior, broken keyboards, and/or nervous sweats. If you experience any of these symptoms refrain from communicating with others until the symptoms have subsided.

I think that it should be very similar to the way it is now but more like this:

The first map and game type should only take half to veto (like it is now).
Then the second could also be vetoed- although now 2/3 of the players need to veto it.
Finally, the last one can only be vetoed if everyone vetoes it.

Or.... how about they use the Gears 2 veto system, but in the event of a tie, Bungie has a system set up where they can track which map or gametype is generally more popular. Whichever one has a more popular history would simply win the tied veto.

This idea is FTW. Very very good idea my friend.

That's actually pretty smart. So, if there was, for example, a choice between Epitaph, snowbound and foundry in VIP, if the two vetoes were tied I could end up on something like Slayer on high ground?

sounds alright.

I think he means something like this:
Guardian and Isolation show up and a tie comes out of it (very unlikely) than Guardian will be chosen because that map is far more popular.

sounds interesting and all, but that means everybody needs to choose which map and gametype they want.... not everybody is stuck to their tv-screen (they could be off or watch another tv channel) what results in everybody has to wait.... :S
unless the system has a countdown aswell.

I would be happy enough if you can veto before the map is fully loaded. so, when it shows up you only need press the button or not and don't have to wait until it's loaded when everybody wants to veto it.

If you fail on your first attempt, try cheating

There should be a system like BF: BC where you can randomly go into matchmaking, or have a "favorite" map which gives you a much higher chance on playing on it. Bungie could do the same with a game type, make a Slayer playlist or a bomb, not just slayer and objective

No, acnboy. Spartain Ken 15 is a lesser being. Much like the bacteria that lives in your shit.

My shit bacteria takes offense to that comparison.

Don't make me lel. You won't like me when I lel.

nah, it should be one button to veto map and one button to veto gametype.
You may want the map but not the gametype & vice versa.
If we had GOW's system, what is the chance that both gametypes/maps are horrible?

Ninjabag the tea-pirates!

I don't want to join your group.

Instead of vetoing you should be able to vote between 2 or 3 possible maps and gametypes. This should also occur before the map loads to save time.

Press (X) to veto map
Press (Y) to veto gametype

Problem solved.. essentially.
