One day... I am gonna grow wings... A chemical reaction... Hysterical and useless... hystecial and let down and hanging around... crushed like a bug in the ground.

Just A guess but the Scrab seemed to want to cross the lake so much it got stopped by a dam. Is that lake the same one Alpha site is near.

...Sure.

And so there was a man who ate cake.

And he was happy it was that way.

The Scarab from Halo 2 is what the OP is talking about.

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

I think he means the Scarab in Halo 2, guys.

I think you have a point. This could easily be what the Scarab was after.

M.A.W

im assuming your talking about the halo2 scarab and yes it very well could be but its probably just destroying everything in its site and it got a little -blam!- up

Not quite. I think the Scarab was intended to dig up the Portal to the Ark (Then believed to be the Ark itself). That's why that Scarab is different than the current Scarab. That was just a mining Scarab.

Actually, the reason it's different is because after looking at it, Bungie thought it wasn't much fun to fight against and looked a bit like a basket.

So they redesigned it and gave it it's own AI to make it more fun to fight against.

I hope not!, average Human legs can't output enough kinetic energy to achieve required height sumth sumt it would be hard to do while getn shot at by many Wraiths, Brutes, Grunts and whatever else lands.

So explain to me why a digging scarab would be harder to take down and has a more powerful gun.

Of course, that is the real reason. But, I believe what I said was the canonical reason.

You're canonical reason does make sense, though If they wanted to dig up that Portal, they probably would have had plenty of Scarabs out there and much more protecting them.

I thoght that Truth used the LAZ3Rs on his ships to dig up the Portal.

Just like glassing beams or somthing.

I also thought that Bungie said somwhere that the h2 Scrab was a mining scrab repurposed for combat, so it isn't really a mining Scrab anymore is it.

That's the thing. Playing further into Halo 2, I believe the level 'Regret', Cortana intercepts an apology letter from Regret to Truth and Mercy. Regret jumped the gun and went to Earth earlier than was planned. That's why there was only two ships. That's why it was so scrappy.

Wouldn't be surprised if that were the reason.

However Cortana also intercepted a message saying the Covenant were surprised that Humans were on Earth. So they may have just thought that humans wouldn't be so populated on Earth and decided to let a small fleet take care of it all.

And maybe his apology was an apology for deciding for them to attack with such a small fleet or for leading the humans to Delta Halo.

I clearly remember it not being about leading the humans to Delta Halo. Both of the other 2 possibilities also explain clearly why the force that attacked Earth was so small. I mean 2 Carriers? Seriously?

Sorry, it's been awhile since I played Halo 2 and I've forgotten wether the message was sent before or after the Slipspace Incident.

the armor would be just incase a hard rock fell onto it (while in a cave) and the weapon would be for digging through extremely hard materials. although the real reason that the scarab is different is because bungie was trying to improve it, it could actually be an answer in the halo universe.

It was after. This was when Regret retreated to Delta Halo, well he didn't exactly retreat. In fact, we don't know what happened. All we know is that he jumped to Delta Halo. And when High Charity and the rest of the Covenant Fleet were about to come to Delta Halo as well, Cortana found the message.
