Honor Light Your Way, Our Blood Shall Forge A Thousand Generations!.

Okay, so, I totally re-wrote all of this due to a better plot and because of the storyline. Yes, I know a lot of this writing will be direct diologue from the Halo games, and based off the missions, but it's just to kick off the story. There will be originality in this.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part One

Thel "Vadam regained conciousness. When his blury vision adjusted, he noticed he was being carried between two Jiralhanae minors in a holding block. Ahead, he spotted the Jiralhanae War Chieftan, Tartarus.

"How much further must we heft this baggage?" One of the minor's asked. "Any cell will do,"

"Why not toss him in with this lot?" The other asked, nodding at the cell full of Kig-yar. "They could use the meat." He chuckled.

"Them?" The minor returned. "My belly aches! And his flesh is seared, just the way I like it."

"Quiet!" Tartarus demanded. "You two whimper like two Unggoy off the teat.. He's not meant for the jails. The Hierarchs have something special in mind." He finished, opening a door.

The door lead to a narrow catlwalk, which heald a grav-lift elevator on the far side. The minors boarded, along with Tartarus and Thel. The elevator descended a couple hundred feet, coming to a hal in front of the stairs leading to the Mosoleum of the Arbiter. It was guarded by easily a dozen Honor Guards. Inside, two of the three High Prophets resided.

"Noble Prophets of Truth and Mercy," Tartarus praised, kneeling. "I have brought the incompetent."

"You may leave, Tartarus." Truth said. Tartarus looked up.

"But.... I thought-" He started.

"And take your Jiralhanae with you." Truth cut him short. Tartarus turned to his men.

"Release the prisoner," He whispered. The two minors did as commanded, and dropped Thel to the floor. The three Jiralhanae exited together.

"The Council decided to have you hung by your intrails, and your corpse paraded through the city." Truth began. Thel listened intentivly. "But, ultimately, the terms of your execution are up to me." He finished. Thel looked up, away from the floor.

"I am already dead." He stated, holding the mark of the heretic on his chest.

"Indeed." Truth agreed. After a few short moments he said, "Do you know where we are?"

"The Mosoleum of the Arbiter." Thel responded.

"Quite so." Truth replied. "Here rest the vanguard of the Great Journey," He pointed towards the walls, which heald the tombs of every single Arbiter who had ever existed. "Every Arbiter from first to last. Each one created and consumed by times of extraordinary crisis."

"The taming of the Lekgolo, the Unggoy rebellion! Were it not for the Arbiters, the Covenant would have broken long ago!" Mercy spoke up, in his elderly voice.

"Even on my knees, I do not belong in their presence." Thel said, shamefully.

"Halo's destruction was your error, and you rightly bare the blame," Truth said. "But the council was..." He searched for the right word, "overzenous. We know you are no heretic. This is the true face of heresy." He stated, as a holographic image of a Sangheili appeared on the arm of his chair. "One who would reject our faith and ensight rebellion against the High Council." He let the projection play.

"Our Prophets are false!" The heretic said. "Open your eyes, my brothers, they would bring the faith of our forefathers to bring ruin to us all! The Great Joruney is a l-" Truth stopped the audio track.

"This heretic, and those who follow him... must be silenced." Truth explained.

"What use am I?" Thel asked. "I can no longer command ships, lead troops into battle," He stated.

"Not as you are." Truth agreed. "But become the Arbiter... and you shall be set loose against this heresy with our blessing."

The Armor of the Ossoona slowly drifted towards the center of the room, carried in a sacred metallic case. Thel looked upon it. "What of the council?" He asked.

"The tasks you must undertake as the Arbiter are perilous! Suicidal! You will die, as each Arbiter has before you. The council will have their corpse."

Thel slowly walked towards the Sacred armor of the Ossonna. He inspected it, gently grabbed the helmet, and then donned it. He turned to the Prophets. "What woudl you have your Arbiter do?" He asked.

Truth explained that he must aid Rtas 'Vadumee in the killing of the Heretic leader. Thel took the mission, dressed himself in the rest of his armor, and left the Mosoleum.

"When we joined the Covenant we took an oath!" Rtas said.

"According to our station, all with our acception." The Sangheili and Unggoy aboard the Phantom recited.

"On the blood of our fathers... on the blood of our son's." Rtas continued. "We swore to uphold the Covenant."

"Even to our dying breath." They replied.

"Those who would break this oath are heretics. Worthy of neither pity - nor mercy!" Rtas told them. "Even now, they use our Lord's creations to broadcast their lies!"

"We shall grind them into dust." The Covenant replied once more.

"And continue our march to glorious salvation!" Rtas finished.

The Phantoms swayed a bit, due to the incredible storm that was taking place. The Heretic's had used a destroyed Forerunner gas mine as a location of desrection. Just near it, they had an air base, and the storm hid them well. but not well enough. Rtas approached Thel.

"That armor suits you, but it cannot hide that mark." He said.

"Nothing ever will." Thel replied.

"You are the Arbiter. The will of the Prophets. But these are my men, their lives matter to me. Yours does not." He said.

"That makes two of us," Thel replied coldly. Rtas fixed his gaze on the Arbiter a bit longer, then let out a satisfying hum. The Phantoms came into the view of the eye of the storm.

"Leader, there is not doubt. The storm will spread to the facility." The pilot said.

"We'll be logn gone before it arrives," Rtas replied. The Phantoms came to a stop on the air base's support beams. Sangheili and Unggoy poured out of the three Phantoms, including Thel.

"Warriors, prepare for combat!" Rtas ordered. Thel unsheathed his blade, eager to begin the fight.

This is much more than the storyline, I'm just using this to set the story. This series will start from the beginning of Halo 2, until the end of Halo 3. It will cover a lot about where the Covenant were, and why they were fighting which the games really never explain.

Part Two

The Master Chief John 117 fired off a couple more rounds before heading into the engine room. Two Elites reacted by firing their plasma rifles, but not before the Chief had thrown a grenade under their feet. It exploded, enveloping the two Aliens in an orange blossom.

When the smoke cleared, one remained standing. Chief fired one burst from his rifle into the Elites head, making him nothing but a corpse. The Grunts ran in fear, and shouted strange, gutteral barks. The Master Chief made quick work of them, too.

"Chief, disarm the bomb! Now!" The AI known as Cortana shouted. Chief reacted by going over to a pedestal which was less than a foot away from the nuke. "Put me indide your head, now." She barked. The Chief touched the pedestal, and absorbed Cortana into his suits AI system. He gradually reached over to the bomb, and, again, placed his hand on it. The bombs red light flickered blue, signaling it disarmed.

"How much time was left?" He asked.

"You don't want to know." Cortana assured him. The Chief left it at that.

"Cyro, this is In Amber Clad," A voice boomed over the PA. "The carrier's sheild is down, I'm in position and ready for immidiate assault." Miranda Keyes reported.

"Negative, Commander. Not against a ship that size. Not on your own," Lord Hood replied.

"Sir, permission to leave the station?" John asked.

"For what purpose, Master Chief?" Lord Hood questioned.

"To give the Covenant back their bomb," He replied. Hood hesitated a moment.

"Permission granted." He said.

The Chief quickly grabbed the bomb by one of it's many spikes. He dragged it to the nearest elevator, then descended to the air lock. "I know what you're thinking, and it's crazy." Cortana said.

"So? Stay here." John replied.

"Unfortuneately for us both... I like crazy." She stated. The elevator came to a stop, and John instantly dragged the bomb out. He set it down, and went to the glass windows that revealed the battle over Earth outside. He went to the airlock controls, pushed a button, which extended a lever. He was about to pull it until Cortana spoke up.

"Just one question..." She said. "What if you miss?" John smiled under his helmet.

"I won't."

He pulled the lever, and the airlock doors suddenly opened. The pressure pulled everythign insdie out of the airlock. Master Chief grabbed ahold of the bomb, and rode it through the black. All around him Longswords and Covenant ships battled eachother.

He was being pulled towards a Covenant carrier, whch a duo of Longswords shot at with missiles. The explosion left a hole in the ship, which John rode the bomb into.

He seemed to be in the ships core. Slowly, the Chief pulled himself up to the activation grid, and let Cortana activate it. The nuke's light winked red, and John kicked off of the bomb, and out of the ship.

Seconds later, then nuke detonated, and the blast sent John proppeled towards In Amber Clad. He landed on top of the bridge outside of the ship. Miranda Keyes and Sergeant Major Avery Johnson heard the thud as John landed.

"For a brick, he flew pretty good." Avery said, smiling at Mirana.

"Chief, get inside, gear up. We're taking this fight to the surface." Mirana ordered. The Chief nodded to himself, and crawled his way to the nearest hatch. Once inside, he linked up with Avery.

"Alright, Chief, commander says you're with me. We're going to teach those Covenant bastards a lesson: Mess with Earth, and you get the boot!" Johnson laughed.

"Yes sir." Was all the Master Cheif said in response. He followed Avery to the hangar, grabbed a couple of weapons, and boarded the Pelican dropship. Time to set foot on land.

Within the next few minutes, In Amber Clad had stopped just outside the city of New Mombasa.

"Alright, Sergeant. Go ahead and deploy the Pelicans," Miranda said over the COM channel. Avery tapped the pilot on his shoulder. The Pelican took off from the hangar, and outside.

The Master Chief stood towards the front, rather than sitting down like the rest of the Marines onboard.

"The message just repeats," Cortana said, "'Regret, Regret, Regret...'" She quoted.

"Any idea what it means?" Commander Keyes asked.

"'Dear Humanity,'" Avery mocked. "We regret being alien bastards, we regret coming to Earth, and we most definitely regret the Core just blew up our ragidy ass fleets!"

"Ooh-rah!" The pilots onboard said.

"Regret is a name, Sergeant. The name of one of the Covenant's religious leaders... a Prophet." Cortana corrected. "He's on that carrier, and he's calling for help."

"Roger recon," Avery heard one of the pilots reply to a recon's report. "It's your call, Sarge." He told Johnson.

"We're going in." He replied. "Get tactical, marines!"

"Master Chief, get aboard that carrier. Find the Prophet of Regret, this is the only place the Covenant decided to land, and that Prophet is going to tell us why." Lord Hood said, over the COM channel.

"Thirty seconds out," A pilot said, turning around in his chair. "Stand by to... whoa." He breathed. The other pilots jaw dropped. Ahead of the Pelican there was a Scarab. It fired it's lasers, catching the Pelican by the wing. It caught fire, and was sent crashing into the roof of a building.

The next thing the Chief remembered was darkness.

What do you think the Arbiter was doing during the missions; Crows Nest and when he returns during the Storm?

Probably aiding Rtas 'Vadum. I don't know, but I will difinitely write about what the games do not explain.

Okay, cool. Maybe you can help me out with that. If I write a story for the Halo 3 Campaign, I want to take an approach on different people's perspectives. So I would like to write about what the Arbiter does when he is not with the Master Chief.

If including R'tas, then remember that at the time he was still at Delta Halo, helping to contain the Flood and High Charity. When a flood vessel broke through their wall, R'tas gave chase, emerging out at Earth. When Floodgate is, basically.

Part Three

The Arbiter waited outside of the blast doors with the rest of the attack force while the Sangheili ahead hacked the console.

"The storm has masked our approach," Rtas said over the COM. "And it rendered their local battle NET. in dissaray. We[i/] have the element of surprise."

That being said, the Sangheili finished hacking the door, and it swung open. The attack group poured inside.

"Engage active camoflauge," A Sangheili Ranger said, "reveal yourselves only after the Arbiter has joined battle with the enemy." Instantly, all of the Sangheili's tall figures disappeared as they activated their Camoflauge generators. The Unggoy, too, had Active Camoflauge, which was rare.

"You may wish to do the same, Arbiter. But take heed. Your armor system is not as... [i]new
as ours. Your camoflauge will not last forever." Rtas said over the COM. Thel nodded to himself, then activated it once the blast door swun open.

His first target was a Heretic Sangheili, which he snuck up on from behind, then snapped it's neck. The Snagheili fell to the floor, dead, but his finger fired the rifle as he fell. The arbiter cursed as the rest of the Heretics inside became alert of Thel and his squad. The battle had truly begun.

~ ~ ~ ~

The Master Chief awoke with a ringing in his head.

"Hey!" A familiar voice shouted. "Wake up!" It was Cortana. The Chief instantly got to his feet, and grabed the BR55 that had been laying by his side.

"Shake it off, Marines!" Johnson said, helping a Marine to his feet. Two others were already leaning against a wall. "Clear the crash site! Go, go, go!" He ordered.

The Chief lead the Marines out of the building they had crashed into, and into a courtyard with a large three story building. There, they found little resistance. It wasn't long before the courtyard was clear. Johnson was about to signal for pickup, until more of the alien bastards showed up.

"We got Jackals in the courtyard!" Johnson said. The Chief lobbed a few grenades into the sworm of Jackals. Most of them died from the blast, but the ones who didn't were picked off by Johnson's SRS Sniper Rifle. Less than thirty seconds after the Jackals had been killed, they were confronted by a new enemy. Buggars.

"Buggars! Headed over the rooftops!" Johnson said, pulling to better cover. The Chief, being as battle hardened as he was, was forced inside the safety of the building. Buggars weren't strong, but they came in plenty, and were too damn fast to hit.

The Buggars swarmed inside the bulding, killing one of the three Marines. The Chief used his BR55 with precise aim, killing atleast on Buggar per burt, if not, someitmes, two.

The Chief pulled back, onto the rooftop where Johnson was. A Buggar had jumped on him, stabbing him with it's spiny legs, The Chief fired a burt into the last buggars head, and helped Johnson to his feet.

"Damn Buggars. We can't hold out here forever!" Johnson exclaimed. The Chief nodded in agreement. The two of them heard a roaring sound, and instantly looked up towards the sky. A Phantom came into a view from over the rooftops.

"Eyes up - Phantoms back!" Johnson shouted, pulling up his rifle. Chief climbed the stairs to the first floor, and into the courtyard. The Phantom dropped off three Elites and four Grunts. John lobbed a plasma grenade at one of the Elites, sticking it on the torso. It screamed in rage, then exploded. The splash damage killed two of the Grunts.

"Kill the Demon!" John heard one of the Elites say through his helmets translators. The Grunts charged him, but fell to the floor as the Cheif shot burts into their skulls. The remaining two Elites unsheathed their blades, and ran towards the Spartan. The Master Cheif backed away, shooting them as the charged., One of the Elites dropped dead, but the other was still pursuing.

The Master Chief turned to shoot the other, but his BR55 clicked. No ammo. The Chief tossed it aside as the Elite swunghis blade. John dodged the attack, the rolled over to pick up the energy sword the dead Elite had dropped. He grabbed it, and let plasma free from its two sides. He parried a blow from the Elite, then forced him back. The Chief followed through with a swing, cathing the Elite by the shoulder. He screamed in pain, as the Chief dug the blade through it's torso.

John let go of the sword, then reclaimed his rifle. A few moments later, Master Chief heard the rumbling off another engine. He was relieved when a Pelican came into view.

"Uh... my girl's a little big for that courtyard, sergeant. I see a good LZ on the other side of these buildings. Meet you there. Over?" He said.

"Copy that, somone get a satchel on the gate." Johnson ordered.

"I got it, sir." On of the marines said, pulling up to the gate. He began placing a satchel on it, until the door blew open from the other side, crushing the marine. When the smoke cleared, the Chief could see two Hunters.

"Hunters," Cortana commented.

"Stand back, Marines! Let the Chief show you how it's done." Johnson ordered. The Chief fired off a few rounds into one of the Hunters exposed areas. It reacted by firing its fuel rod cannon at the Spartan. He ran out of the blasts way, and into some cover. John ran towards the Huner pair, and leaped over them both. This act caught them by surprise.

The Chief removed a plasma grenade from his belt, then dug it inside the Hunters worm-like interior. He pulled back, as the beast exploded from the inside. It's companion shouted in rage, charging John and waving its heavy shield.

The Chief dodged a blow, then came behind the Hunter. He unloaded his BR55 into the beast, and it toppled over, dead. The remaining Marine and Johnson pulled up besides John.

"Second squad, this is Cortana. What's your status? Over." She said over the COM.

"We're operatinal, ma'am. Barely. Our pilots didn't make it." An ODST responded.

"Find a hole, stay put. We'll come to you." Cortana replied.

The trio pulled into the LZ. There, they found the Pelican.

"Sergeant, I need you on that bird." Miranda ordered over COM.

"Ma'am?" Johnson asked.

"My Pelicans are going to start airlifting armor and reinforcements into the city. They'll need an escort that can portray them a little... hostile groundfire."

"Understood. I'll keep an eye on 'em." Johnson said, then turned to the Master Chief. "Chief, good luck." He saluted, climbing aboard the Pelican.

"You too, sir." The Chief replied. A couple of marines jumped out of the Pelican.

"We're with you, sir!" They stated. The Chief nodded, then lead the way down the steet. Time to link up with second squad.

~ ~ ~ ~

Thel lunged his blade into the last of the Heretics, and waited for the rest of the squad to regroup. Once everyone was together, Thel boarded an elevator, then pushed the console. The elevator began to descend. Halfway down, the metalic walls were replaced with class, revealing Sentinels aiding the Heretics.

"Sentinels. The holy warriors of the sacred rings. Why have they sided with these heretics?" A Sangheili asked. Thel wondered that himself. The elevator came to a stop, and the attack team opened fire.

"Arbiter, clear the hangar and open the door. So I may drop the second latch." A Sangheili pilot said over COM. Before long, all resistance had been taken care of. Thel opened the hangar door, and a phantom pulled inside. It dropped off more Covenant troops, and pulled out.

"Glad you could make it, Brothers." The Arbiter commented.

"And miss the destruction of the traitors?" A Sangheili commented. "I think not!" He laughed. The Arbiter nodded his head, then lead the way through a door.

It was time to put an end to this Heresy.

Part Four

John stepped inside the remains of the Zanzibar Hotel, rifle leveled. He was about to shoot, until he saw a Marine Sergeant step out from an office room.

"Man, are we glad to see you!" he exclaimed.

"You it?" John asked, lowering his rifle.

"No, sir. Got some men in the hallwa-" he was cut off by the firing of a plasma rifle and the screaming of a Marine. The Chief brished past the Sergeant, and into the hallway. On the far side, two Elites fired resided. He shot his BR55 with short controlled burts, then lobbed a frag. It landed under the Alien's feet, blasting them to hell. The Chief looked at the dead marines in the hallway.

"I'm it." the Sergeant said gravely.

~ ~ ~ ~

Thel pulled into a room, and did a sweep. On the far right side, he could see the Heretic leader boarind a Banshee.

"Take care of him!" he exclaimed, as he flew away. His bodyguards entered the room, and Thel activated his Camoflauge. With the short time of stealth, Thel snuck behind one of the Sangheili and dug his blade into its torso, the other turned to fire, but Thel decapitated him.

He went onto the platform, and boared a Banshee of his own. A Phantom pulled beside him.

"Follow me, I know where the Heretic landed." Rtas said. Thel complied. No sooner than a few minutes, the Phantom came to a stop at a platform, and Thel landed the Banshee.

When the Arbiter came to the Phantom, it deployed troops, one of them being Rtas.

"Well done, Arbiter." Rtas said, taking lead. Thel nodded, and followed. Ahead, they opened a door. A Sangheili minor, dual wielded with two Plasma Rifles, opened the door. Rtas went in, followed by two Unggoy. Rtas sniffed once inside.

"What is it?" Thel asked, pulling behind him. Rtas looked back.

"That stench... I've smelled it before..." he queried.

The Arbiter pondered on that. I've smelled it before...

~ ~ ~ ~

The Chief pulled into the traffic tunnel driving the LRV "Warthog" he had aquired.

"Ghosts!" the Marine on the Warthog's stationary gun said. The Chief did his best to avoid the plasma blasts, as the gunner tore through the purple armor with his armor piercing rounds. Soon enough, the Warthog pulled into a large, empty tunnel. Suddenly, something tore through the ceiling. The Chief recognized it - the leg of a Scarab.

"Holy hell, was that a Scarab?!" the Marine in the side seat said. The Chief nodded. He laughed in disbelief and shook his head.Within the next ten minutes, John pulled out of the tunnel. There, he was awaited by a couple of Marines. He got out of the drivers seat, and went to them. In the distance, he saw the Scarab. Time to hunt it down.
