Well I called Microsoft Technical support, and it took almost forever, then they transfered me to Halo 2 technical support, they said to email: H2cheats@microsoft.com

There the one that can resolve the issue, they will respond back as told my the operator.

So everybody tell me about the live server crashing!

And mention ''Halo 2 Vista''.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I emailed them but it bounced.

Wish Halo 3 PC would come out sooner... :(

I think that email is dead too.

Let there be CHAOS!

That was the old email that people reported modders/standbyers to from Halo 2 Xbox. I'm pretty sure that tech support guy had no idea what you were talking about and just wanted you to go away. Those guys are boneheads...

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Yeah, many tech support centers dont know much about gaming, other than rrod and e74.

I got another "we're talking to the developers" response. Been a couple days now. I'll post here if/when they call back.

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I just submitted a news story to the front page with info about this, so we'll see if Bungie at least notices us.

Thanks AJ.

So far I've tried posting on http://forums.haloonwindowsvista.com, but got an error page when I submitted the most saying it "could not be serviced" or something. Next I attempted to enter my product ID at http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_halo_master and was told there was something wrong with my product ID.

It really looks like these -blam!-s are deliberately blocking any way of getting the problems solved with this game. I made a short list of the problems as I see them:
These are the problems plaguing Halo 2 for Windows Vista that I know of:

- LIVE Game Browser does not populate sometimes.

- When a player joins the game, all players freeze for about half a second.

- Gunner and passenger shake when being driven in a Warthog.

- On mid/high-end video hardware, increased framerates cause slower mouse acceleration.

- Players with specially crafted gamertags can crash the game when browsing servers in the LIVE Game Browser.

These issues need to be addressed so fans can continue to enjoy Halo 2 for Windows Vista.

Seems like we're all just talking to a wall. I'm going to phone MS support again and find out the status of my current case. Getting sick of this. MS knows they can shovel poor quality software on us and just walk away. I don't know about you guys, but I sure feel like boycotting MS right now. Delete Windows, install Linux, sell the Xbox 360... you know what I mean.

Dont make this a MS Hate thread, as i have had good experences with their other products (Zune, windows, etc). And if you get linux, you are stuck with just minesweeper clones and Valve linux dedi servers.

Now back on topic, i got that same error with h2v product key, which is probably a messup on the support side. And the main problem for me is "Live Not Avalible". I am going to call ms if the crashing starts again. And i may record it as well.

Well it's Micro$h*t $tudios and HiredPrick's fault for making such a sh*---terrible port.

Lots of free and proprietary FPS games for Linux.

This is worse than running Halo PC with Wine. Could H2V and GFWL devs be this stupid, or are they doing it on purpose? I even got an email today from an MS support rep saying a new Halo 2 update was coming down the line. Started up H2V and no update. I think they're just -blam!- with us.

Sean,I told you before it's like sitting down and talking to a brick wall all day which never replies.Give it a rest,They said there will be a LIVE Update so wait for it to schedule. If you find out the next LIVE Maintenance alright good job.All I said was Hired Prick and Micro$hit made a terrible port and the H2V community will die soon.I'm pessimistic about the fact that this hacker is trying to kill H2V.

Yep, and i heard the next big live update was on August 11 for the 360, maybe they will have a gfwl update as more games are being released with it.

And also, the reason we are like OMG BAD PORT is the games coding is unprotected with no anti cheat, which protects the games files. And pcs are different than xboxes, as it is hard to detcet hacked h2v files unlike on the xbox, where they can detect and ban modded xboxes.

Gears of War for Windows has a built-in checksum feature which causes the game to exit if the code has been tampered with. MS actually had to release a hot-fix when that feature back-fired and caused the game to stop working for everyone.

Punkbuster is used by a number of games to detect cheaters, and it seems to work. A lot of the new "free to play" FPS games that are out include their own proprietary systems for detecting and preventing cheating. Microsoft could implement anti-cheat devices into more of their games if they would spend the time and money.

Now that we've moved up to the big leagues, we get to take advantage of Microsoft's world class product support services. If you have a support issue that is NOT related to Bungie.net, please contact Microsoft by one of the options listed below.
World class. That's funny.
