I have no doubt that AI would be possible but why should Bungie give that much power to the players, we are not the programers. If we could make our own courses and our own enemys what would be the point of buying another game? We have been lucky to have a forge option and I'm just speaking from the business point of view.

Well, you obviously arn't very business minded. You are corret that we are not programmers, which is why we rely on options such as forge to create our own content. Simply put, more customization means greater replay value. Greater replay value means the game stays more popular, for a longer amount of time. Greater popularity leads to more game copies sold.

So from a business perspective, upgrading forge, in any way possible, is a huge plus from a business point of view. Not even to mention new options they could add onto this later on, in the form of DLC.

who said they will have forge?

Common sence. Do you really believe that, with all the popularity forge has had, that Bungie would simply drop the concept? Of course not! They even designed two whole maps in Halo 3 DLC, specifically for Forge.

Removing Forge would be like taking 10 gigantic steps backwards for Bungie.

You dont know that it would be too laggy. Just because I suggest it, doesnt mean Bungie would implament it just like this. And if it doesnt work then Bungie wouldnt include it.

Not just that, you discredited yourself in your own statement

we have firefight

Since we are able to have so much together in fire fight, why wouldnt Bungie be able to work this in?
There are not costant enemies, they are limited to a certain number each round.

And at higher rounds, those enemies, weapons, dead enemies, and pieces of enemies far outnumber the object that are on our maps right now. You are NOT A PROGRAMMER, you can NOT say it would be laggy.

Not only that, but you have provided no reason why it would lag. With no reasoning or examples, it makes it your opinion. Opinions have no effect on how things play out irl, only facts do.
I have used a game engine before and it lagged when I put too much stuff in it.........................and even in single player, survival games start to lag at about round 14.............like in N@zi Zombies.

BOOM DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turok's A.I. in multiplayer were very limited and Counter-Strike's were too dumb to open a door.

if you mean to put it in local muliplayer it'll run smoother, but for xbox live this would be impossible. It is true but I would still play it if it weren't for xbox live just in case my internet was down or something

I am sure that that engine was NOT the new AAA engine, which will be used in reach. Additionally, the second is 100% false. Not only can you NOT compare my idea with survival game modes, your example isn't even true.

If you would read some of the posts on this thread, you would realize how misinformed and repetative you sound.

This would be my dream come true in halo. If this was in halo reach I would spend a lot of time making big and small battles with A.I. that you could take part in.

It would be a good option if you could choose what team the A.I. are on so you know what team you are fighting for. Even if it wouldnt be possible to make them move it would still make the game a lot more fun if they could just stand somewhere and shoot at you like auto turrets or something.

I have had this idea ever since halo 3 came out and my computer is to bad to have halo: ce so i cant edit on that so GOOD IDEA! I hope some form of this will be put into Halo Reach.

Thanks for your support. For those that still seem to think this would cause lag, like he said, they are like turrets. In its barest form, this amounts to moveable snowbound turrets, with the player setting the "out of bounds" area.

More advanced options could then be added, but if you think the entire idea would be "stupid," than remeber, no one is forcing you to use them.

I agree that even if the AI were nothing more than stationary turrets that we could place and customize, it would add a whole new value to the game. Pocket Syndrome may not have been the first to think of this, but he was the first to actually bring it to the attention of the common folk like me ;)
As i Said. GREAT.

what does this trigger thing do again

Great idea that I would buy it first day it came out if they add that (I'll probably buy anyway though)

Who is this crazy darkpig guy anyway?

What I know should happen is that bots replace quiting players and the bot should be differently skilled based on the peoples winning percentages

Although some might prefer this, my thread is NOT about bots.

Yes it does.

Yes it does.

A very convicing argument. I now KNOW you are right because you simply said that it does, without providing any additional support.

1. If you are going to make a point, back it up.
2. This issue has been disputed many times on this thread, each time you "side" coming up illogical and unable to prove their point.
3. There are hundreds of videos on youtube that go against your "argument."
4. From personal experiance, this is 100% not true. This would be a problem with YOUR connection. Games don't cause lag, the connection does.

I'm just saying there should be a bot that takes over for a player as well as your idea and for all the players thinking that AI's will make the game lag get a clue! Enemys work on Metroid Prime Hunters so why not Halo?

Having bots replace people in MM opens up an entirely new set of discussions. I want to avoid this and focus on Customs.

What? Do you realize that this is my thread, and I am the OP. The "topic" is adding customizable A.I. into the forge of Halo: Reach. These are NOT bots. If you think otherwise, please red the entire thread.

For those people constantly providing arguments about "lag" becoming to difficult to manage, I would like to point out a few minor issues.

First, lag is dependent upon two things, either your hardware cannot support the amount of objects being rendered or there are considerable networking issues. For the latter, this is more or less irrelevant, because if you posses a network connection that cannot support online game play, and yet still choose to play online then your point becomes moot, as you do not meet the specified requirements the game designers intended. As for the former, one must realize that it would make little sense for Bungie to place such an amount of objects and entities on a map that the game would become unplayable, therefore I doubt that they would do this.

Now I believe multiple individuals are concerned about the hardware issue, that is the fact that the Xbox (like any other computer) can only support a certain amount of detail and objects in any real time environment. The primary issue here seems to be that people believe the Xbox would be unable to handle AI units in addition to regular players without suffering a considerable performance hit. I would like to point out the fact that, were one to say place a thousand fully pathed and animated AI units on any map on the game at one time then the entire game would likely become wholly frozen. However, even assuming a full sixteen players (with respectable internet connections) on a map, using the current Halo 3 engine, there would still be room for, at the minimum, perhaps an additional sixteen AI units. I have based this off the fact that while playing campaign such numbers are easily supported, in addition to experience working with other game engines.

Finally, these AI units would have very little effect on network conditions, as the only reason these units would appear to "lag" is because the hosts connection is not up to par. Transferring relevant data about unit placement to other players in game should be easy enough to accomplish with most modern day internet connections, and should have no adverse effect upon performance. Remember that lag often occurs when people have trouble connecting to the game host, either because their connection is not adequate (in which case they are dropped) or due to a poor connection from the host themselves (in which case a new host is selected.)

big maps with a lot of dumb A.I.'s that basically shoot everything that moves besides other A.I.'s and run around randomly

Well the AI opponents in Rainbow six vegas 1 and 2 were smart enough to open doors, and ubisoft hardly cares if theirs stuff works. i think bungie would do a much better job. And i don't think this concept was meant for MM, mabe systemlink customs but not MM.

yeah i remember back in timesplitters 2 when me and a friend would set up a ctf game with bots for enemies and if they can do it with a ps2 game they can surely do it with halo
