We're building a better world...all of them, better worlds.

I would love to see some kind of campaign or solo game editor in addition to a fleshed out mulitplayer editor.

Thanks for the support, and so would I. This being (as far as we know) the last Halo game by Bungie, it should be as detailed and customizable as possible.

Too often, people post on forums and just regurgitate what they've seen already and don't really explain their own views. - achronos

lol, I can see it now16 players vs. 1 flood tank in a maze like map, like a bezerker from gears. I think that would be terrifying and hilarious. I like it.

  • 08.12.2009 10:06 AM PDT

Thanks. And imagine what other kinds of games you could create. It really opens up possibilities.

Dylan J. Yocca

great idea
i think i have thought of something like this in the past before but anways this could also be a useable tool for file share content and machinima as well

well done

i think it would be a great idea to do it but it would be much better with more preset AI where they end up more like the way you see them in the campaign like take the grunts for example you never see them walking alone theirs always traveling in packs where as a flood tank would travel around on its own. something like that would revolutionize the way people use forge forever.

Burn in the flame of my passige

i agry if reach has that i could add grunts jackals hunters brute and drones to my machinima the first ep is out on my youtube but the camera work isnt that great and i need to add more emotion to the voice acting. better camera work in ep two

When ever I see one of these threads I just get this image in my head of a bunch of Combat forms trapped in a fence box in Foundary just clawing to get out. And THAT would be epic.

I think what Bungie will do though instead of this is just make firefight (or the equivilant) with Forgable maps.

No, due to the fact that the purpose of forge was to create unique maps for custom games, and if lucky, for matchmaking. This would just suceed in making Bungie work longer on this and thus producing a longer wait time for its release, and it would probably make the game sieze up, because the 360 cannot handle the infinite number of possibilities of the individual AIs that would have to be programmed into the disk.

Team Channel: None (FFA), Attackers, Defenders, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

Team colours should be added.
Giving bots the abilty to drive or sit on the jumpseats or man the turrets would open up more possiblities for example say you were walking across the map and an enemy bot warthog with just a driver and if the bot saw you it would try to splatter you and the warthog was an ally it would stop and let you take shotgun or the turret.

Because they are not Bots in the way you are thinking of them. Bungie stated that Bots would be impossible because you can not have an AI that would think for itself in a player-made environment.

However, these AIs I am suggesting do not have to think for themselves. Players set the everything from the path movement of the AIs to when they attack. The bots dont have to think for themselves and therefore it is possible.

This is so stupid you underestimate how hard programming is. Bungie works their ass off to give you a good game and you think this wouldn't be hard to implement? It would be Hard to impossible to implement into the game and even if you had to set where the player walks who aims for the AI, who makes all the animation for the AI, and who takes the time to
make it User Customizable.

You say that it would be just as easy as a few dead bodies and a fuel rod cannon? Do dead bodies and fuel rod cannons walk, shoot, and Kill by themselves. Now imagine 16 people running around (on a map filled with items) causing explosions, killing each other, and killing AI. That in itself causes lag and that can be proven by the current Halo 3 multiplayer. Now add the AI walking around shooting and such. Yeah thats what i call UBER LAG.

Next you say that if bungie can do Firefight why can't they do this. Firefight first of all only has 4 people. Second of all Bungie has set up the map and the AI shouldn't have any difficulties moving around. Now add a bunch of forge stuff and yeah its gunna glitch.

What happens if your AI walks into a mancannon? Do they just stand there and not fly away or do they fly away and then it would glitch because its not in its designated area. What happens if something spawns on top of them in the middle of the match?

You sir win my epic fail award take it with pride

RED BRICK STUDIOS!

I talked about this in another topic on this very page (the AI forge relations). Bots are not good for multiplayer, as a computer can NEVER replace a human player.

A tender mind of shadows
A fragile world of dreams
let us finish this
Halo 3

its probably too much for the 360 to handle... the next halo installment could include it on the XBOX 720... or whatever it is

Try to keep up!

you mak it sound simple but it isnt. the problem is that the enemy is limited. might as well just let them sit there

Enemy's tactics and skill is limited, I think you mean. It would be very boring to fight the AI instead of human opponents in multiplayer. Campaign I am fine with.

Awesome isn’t just a word. Awesome is a way of life. Awesome is a way of war. Teamwork matters the most. Lone Wolves jeopardize the missions. Teamwork is key. Resistance is futile. The covenant fear us, not the other way around. We don’t fight for Earth. We don’t fight for Reach. We fight for the good of mankind because we are A.W.E.S.O.M.E. Alpha Wolf Elite Squadron Ordinary Mammals Electrocuted. Click the Homepage.

It may take the expirience out of playing online. It would be good for people who dont have xbox live.I personally think this would work better in campaign.

Read the post. I am not talking about an "infinite number of possibilities." I acknowledge the fact that A.I.s could NEVER think for themselves on user created maps. Thats why they would/could only follow a set path, and shoot only in certain areas.

As for Purew4rrior, you continue to rant and say it is impossible without backing up any of your examples. The reason I used dead bodies as an example is that they actually cause greater strain on the game than normal players. This is due to all the various movements they can take.

Once again, I am 100% sure you are not a programmer. I am not a programmer. No one who has posted on this thread is a programmer. None of us have more than a basic knowledge of how programming works. Therefor, we can not say it WILL produce lag. However, from my BASIC knowledge of programming, it wouldnt often cause excessive amounts of lag. I know for a FACT that other games have used FAR more complex bots (such as GoW) , and still have them play along side with players.

As for your point with the mancannons/spawning, I dont know. I AM NOT A PROGRAMMER OR GAME DESIGNER. It is not my job to figure out or do these things. The point of this thread is to put an idea out into the community that COULD improve gameplay.

Finally, as for your "fail award," act your age. Just because you fee that your opinions (at least on this thread) are somehow "better" than those of other people, doesn't make you "better" than us. If you want to contribute to these forums, actually contribute.

i voted yes but the only problem is it being glitchy. although Bungie could do what Blizzard did and make map editing separate from the game by making it down loadable content off the market place.

  • 08.13.2009 12:12 PM PDT

Explain glitchy.

If you mean lag, just read some previous posts.

If you mean bugs in the game, Bungie would have that covered. They woudnt give us an uncomplete game.

  • 08.13.2009 1:32 PM PDT

¬.¬

i think it would be amazingly awesome to have the ability to have bots but a huge forge game with bots with some friends over seas would be imencelly laggy but i voted yes anyway even tho staff have said it would be hard to do in the past but who knows things could change ; )

  • 08.13.2009 2:16 PM PDT

It would be really good if they did but its not needed.

I've always wanted to Forge AI. I like this idea.
