if reach is going to be a fps I really hope there will be boats involved. just think a boat with a turret on the back just like a warthog except better. boats in multilayer would be insane. imagine having to capture a flag by taking it to your base on a boat across a lake or something. that would be really cool.

It's a good idea, but boats could be tricky in multiplayer. In Campaign, a boat-based level would be great but I wouldn't want it in Matchmaking.

I definetly DEFINETLY agree about the boat based multiplayer but my only concern would be how would you fight if you weren't in a boat like would you glide or something?

Realize that its hard to fit boats into the canon. Why take a boat when you can fly a ship? If you can't fly a ship in, you use drop pods. Not really a place for a boat in the UNSC or Covenant millitary (though speaking of drop pods, it would be nice if Elites used those again like in Halo 2).

The only way I can imagine ships with weapons being used is civilian owned or pirate owned and probably crudely fitted with weapons.

The UN forces in Halo are most definitely NOT just composed of spaceships. There's concept art for an entire navy in The Art of Halo 3, and aircraft carriers in the distance on longshore.

Not every battle would be fought in space or on easily accessible land.

I definitely agree with Hylebos that It would be silly to have UNSC watercraft when you can just send in a Pelican to fly over the water. If the game mirrors The Fall of Reach's storyline, I don't think there'll be much river warfare. Besides, what happens when superheated plasma hits metal? It'd be kinda unrealistic and mess with canon a bit.

Then again, you never know what might be happening outside of the book's story, so we might just see boats.

You say tomato; I say potato.

I honestly can't say that sounds fun at all. I'm sure Bungie would find a way to make it fun if they did implement a boat, but I just can't picture it.

To be honest I really don't see the fun in a boat.
I would have been kind of lamed out "Finishing the Fight" in a boat.

For campaign it sounds fun. As for multiplayer it could possibly be a lot of frustration.
