I think its a magnum sounds like 1 I read about it in first strike.
For those who didnt read the book,The gun had a oversised barrel,Its was 3o percent larger and longer than the pistol,It shot high caliber slugs the size of a spartens thumb.
Whether its in the game or not remains to be seen

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a magnum. But I have yet to hear anything about it in Halo 2. Although they do CENSOR a lot of things.

if it is in halo 2 it will be more powerful yes, but it will be far less accurate and with no zoom, so no worries for all the pus*ys that whine about the pistol being over powerful (its not over powerful you just suck at using it).

And to clear up any confusion:
Just because it is labeled a "magnum" does not mean its a revolver.

Maybe they could stick it in the single player mode and not multiplayer. I loved the pistol in the last game it was by far my favorite in single and multiplayer misions, but I must admit it was unbalanced in multiplayer. I do feel though that without the pistol in the single player mode it would have made it suck it was the only gun that was of any use at a disatnce for knocking down the covies besides the sniper which by nature was clumsy and hard to aim quickly. So I feel both sides for multiplayer if you did not have a pistol you were at a serios disadantage and I do feel that needs to be fixed but maybe just the introduction of the BR can balance that out.

They should just include it in both and then if you dont want it you simply play games that dont have the pistol in it.

A magnum wouldn't have a scope, it also would hold less ammo in it's clip and has unblievable recoil prevent rapid fire to make up for it's power so it would be balanced.

guys its the pistol replacement, itll probably look a whole less -blam!-, have no scope and be less powerful. just cuz its a new version of a gun doesnt mean it has to do more. remember, balance is wat bungie is most worried about.

The M6D was a perfect balance between power/range and fireing rate/reload time. This time the pistol will (hopefully it is in the game the magnum) be more of a close range weapon although it probably wont lack it's predecesors accurace because the barrel is longer and bigger. Allthough i would miss the scope it would be a worthy tradeoff.

Yet if you are dual wielding two wepons that (according to the book) kill an elite in two shots then it more than makes up for not havin the scope.

But with the kick you could only realistically get the fire few shots to be accurate after that the recoil would just send your slugs off target so you would have to hit your target and be a sure aim to be good with the Magnum.

i agree, itll definutely be a mostly close range gun (its about time the pistol will actually be a pistol and not ur all purpose assault weapon) and yeh accuracy should definutely not be sumthin to worry about. i bet you'll still hit people far off but u'll never get a kill in 3 shots anymore, thank you BUNGIE, THANK YOU

None of us has played it not you not me, all the info we know about the magnum is from FS and there it states what i said. In the end it not be as you or i expected, allthough one of the things stressed in FS is that it is way more powerfull

You do remember that the "pistol" in Marathon was a 44. Super Magnum. Also "Magnum" is French for big wine bottle...
