So just wondering . . . since ODST is coming with a second disc of all the halo 3 maps . . .will that disc of all the maps be NXE compatible meaning . . .ok to put on the HHD?

Bungie recommends you don't back up the multiplayer disk.

Have some info:

Q. You told us not to use NXE to copy Halo 3 to the Xbox 360 hard drive. You fixed that for Halo 3: ODST, right?

A. Yup. Well, I didn't. Mat Noguchi and a crew of awesome dudes did. Awesome. Dudes. You'll be able to copy the Halo 3: ODST campaign disc directly to your hard drive if you want to. We still recommend that you do not do so with the secondary disc.

i wonder why?

Check Out my FileShare.
I was once on Bungie Faves. (Feb.7-15)
I'd like to know why I can't see the signatures of others of myself on the forum. I have made favs once, 7777 campaign kills, and I helped bring modders down when they were at their strongest

The MP disk runs slower if on the HARDDRIVE. It isn't recommended. I wonder what happens if you Download the second disk that comes with the game and then put in the Original Halo game.

Ka-BOOM!

Just kidding. It'll work fine- all the game needs to run when its stored on the HD is a key, and that where the CD comes in. The switch between the two disks would be fine in that situation, as the multiplayer is the same thing, and, as such, would have the same activation index (totally flashed back to the Halo Index when I was writing that, lol.).

No it's not... The multiplayer disc of ODST doesn't include Halo 3's campaign. Besides, I don't think that's what the OP was referring to...

I think he was talking about the fact that Bungie recommended not putting the Halo 3 disc on your Hard Drive, due to the fact that it would slow load times. That has been corrected with the ODST disc, but not the multiplayer disc.

Sorry, Seggi, I was actually replying to the poster above me. Let's say we have Disc 1 (ODST), Disc 2 (Halo 3 MM), and Disc 3 (Complete H3). We can put any on the HD (not recommended with 2 & 3, though). If Disc 2 is put on the HD, the activation key can be done using Disc 3, however, campaign would be loaded off the CD, in that situation.

That seems a bit unlikely. Wouldn't it be needlessly complex to do that? I would imagine it would just load the disc normally, directly off-the-disc.

ODST Disc: It's okay to install to your HDD.

Multiplayer Disc: Bungie don't recommend it but I think that they over-exaggerate the problems.

No they don't over exaggerate the problem. HDD install really slows down loading times.
Simple test: Play some original map ( which are on game disc) with some people, loads at normal speed. Then play some similar sized DLC map (which are on HDD) with same people. It loads slower.
It is noticeable difference really. With ODST's Halo 3 MP disc, i'm happy to get rid of long DLC load times, though people who have DLC on HDD will still load slower :/

Yes, load times are increased, but really, I don't ever notice it. My disc is scratched up pretty badly and i'm not buying another copy of Halo 3. As a result, the game is installed to my Hard Drive.

Why would it not be NXE compatable if it came out after NXE?
