"Your momma never loved you, and she dresses you funny!"

So I was reading the Field Guide for ODST, and I noticed something interesting about the entry for the Brute:

BRUTE (Jiralhanae)

Massive and ape-like. Many have been observed speaking human languages. Depending on location and MOS they will be encountered in groups up to eight.

They are fearless, vicious opponents and must not be underestimated. Currently, they fill the command role that Elites occupied previously. Whether or not this is indicative of a power shift within the Covenant is of no consequence to the current operation. ANYTHING that seeks to obstruct the successful completion of your mission is a legitimate target.

(I boldfaced the line that piqued my interest, but "ANYTHING" is capitalized on the original article)

Now, I may be reading too far into this, but follow me here and see if it doesn't get your brain a-workin'.

So we know that Dare is an ONI agent, and we know that ONI has done some rather... questionable acts in the past. I'm thinking that this "ANYTHING" may be pointing to a moral decision plot point somewhere, though I have no idea what it is. Dare's entry on the guide has all her info listed as [classified], and we know she ordered a course change during the drop, saying it was "Exactly where I need to go.", a place other than Regret's carrier, the original target. Needless to say, she's a very mysterious figure (as any good ONI agent should be >.>)

So yeah, I may be reading too far into this, but Bungie really likes Easter Eggs and hidden clues.

I'd like to hear what everyone thinks about this. And by everyone, I of course mean those of you that will actually provide a meaningful conversation... ahh who the hell am I kidding? It's the internet!

Why are you reading my signature? Who actually opens these things and reads them!

And as always, SEND ME A PM. Please. Or really bad things will happen to you.

I think that means that the Brutes will do anything to stop you. Not that you will do anything to complete your mission.

Good day. I'm an active and fairly enthusiastic member of the Bungie fan-base and pride myself on many qualities. If you want to send me a PM, go right ahead. No I won't spam your inbox with group invites, I will respond in the best way possible. Thank you, and as I had opened, I'll close - good day.

All forces, allied or enemy are detrimental to the completion of the mission. The mission MUST be completed no matter what. That therefore includes killing everyone in the city regardless of alignment.

Cry me a river, build me a bridge, and get over it. You can't copyright a theory you had about a video game.

I find it hard to believe that we've worded our theories exactly the same, and no I didn't copy. Granted, I didn't exactly search the topic, because I didn't feel like sifting through pages of theories trying to see if this one had been discussed before.

Apologies for any confusion but I assure you that I did not copy this from anyone.

I am a Halo 3 Failure.

Dare changed the course to protect the ONI building, there's most likely some sort of important information inside the building which could tip the tide of the war if the Covenant retrieved.

I mean come on, it's ONI, they must have something in there worth protecting, and from looking at all the Covenant on the bridge, it needed protection.
