Subject: HHmmmm... What the hell are these things?

Well, i didn't post a topic about this earlier because i thought that someone else would have done it by now. but i haven't seen one yet, so here goes...

at 2:22 there is a blue 'ray shield'

I have no idea what this is. perhaps you have to take out shield generators for something the covenant are guarding? post your opinion.

and sorry if this has been done before.

Yeah, I remember pointing that out In another thread, but anyway good to show others, also that is probably the thing from Tsavo Highway.

J-H

It's probably just to stop you going off track...Makes missions more linear.

  • 08.03.2009 9:10 AM PDT

Your blood will clean the blood for now.

Nice! I never noticed that!

  • 08.03.2009 9:10 AM PDT

yeah i kinda assumed that.

  • 08.03.2009 9:20 AM PDT

Possibly a locked section of the city in which later as the game goes on the shield will drop.

  • 08.03.2009 9:27 AM PDT

343 will save us

Yea i also thought it was like those shield doors in tsavo highway where you had to walk through them and destroy the generator

  • 08.03.2009 9:33 AM PDT

It's all in good fun!

Actually, I think that's Bungie's way of sealing off parts of the city early on. As they've stated, we will not have access to the full city to begin with, and I'm sure this is their way of preventing us from moving in deeper.

they said that the first flashback is required, once you go to it and do the flashback the rest of the city opens up... then it's totally free roam.

(maybe the first flashback is a training level?, flashback to a training mission on the ship?)

sorry but their not shield doors. their beacons. in the gameplay video way back at e3 when you see the map it has a key and ts says that the big blue things are beacons

0.o

No, I think those are actual barriers you cannot pass. The reasoning is that in this video, from around 2:48-2:56, Joe Staten says that you are free to go pretty much anywhere in the night time city, and that they don't put a lot of barriers.

I think that those barriers are some of the few that he was talking about.

xXxL05T50ULxXx

I was also wondering that. I think it's just like those shields from Halo 3 Campaign or like a off bounds thing like where you can't go.

You know those days where you wake up and you just don't want to get out of bed? those days when you drag your feet across the floor like a zombie? yeah, I'm having one of those days.

there are 2 if you watch the video again...i think there bungies way of saying "NO you cant go that way...no invis walls this time ok bud this time we have giant sheilds!!"

it looks like the shield door from Tsvavos highway and the ones from halo wars wear only infantry can go through and then you have you blow up the generator.

Challenge me to a Hawaiian Punch chugging contest. I dare you.

$.50 in store credit.

They look like shield doors. Probably placed to keep you out of areas you are not supposed to go yet.
