wolverfrog how can you prove that the third pelican is the same that picks up johnson. maybe they deployed another.

  • 08.03.2009 2:32 PM PDT

and other dude, read my friggin post, I said in another squadmates flashback, and the squad could have been stationed on another ship and been in new mombasa during the time that master cheif was on the ground.

Why would they bother when the third Pelican wasn't even hit? In Amber Clad at the time was the only ship to enter Earth's atmosphere, the rest were engaged in Space Combat, and it only had 3 Pelicans aboard.

  • 08.03.2009 2:34 PM PDT

how do you know that they only had three? and did you even watch the video, The third pelican with no crew disclosed was clearly hit. You can see the shot hit it in the vid. ill fetch link.

  • 08.03.2009 2:37 PM PDT

see how halfway through the scarab plasma shot you see an explosion right where the roof of the pelican was?

  • 08.03.2009 2:39 PM PDT

I don't need to watch the video, I've played the bloody game. Multiple times. And I know there are only three, because Miranda Keyes comments on it at some point.

In Another day at the beach, the third Pelican breaks off when it sees the Scarab, moving to the side, how can you not see this?

And stop double posting, there's an edit button.

Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

Halo 3: ODST takes place after Metrpolis(level) in Halo 2. None of the ODST's were with the Master Chief in Halo 3: ODST.

The crew that crashed was led by Sgt. Pete Stacker, a recurring Marine Sgt in the Halo series. We know he went along with Chief into the next level, he gives him a Gauss Hog. So a flashback is a tad unneeded.

idk when it comes down to it I see a small explosion that resembles nothing of that greenish hue of the scarab gun at all, really really look closely man. I swear to god you can see it getting hit, I have a high res monitor one setting below HD, you can see the explosion. Even if I am right, to each his own and all is plausible for now. I'll look for that quote by miranda keyes but my halo 2 disc broke so I cant play back through...... :'(

halo once again is no one READING MY POST! The OTHER pelican crew, the undisclosed crew inside hit by the scarab. there were THREE pelicans, im saying the one NEITHER Johnson, Master cheif, or Stacker was on. Johnson at the start of that mission is in the same pelican as you. theres one pelican. Stacker and the Other ODSTS, theres 2. Then theres another pelican that is supposedly manned, and if it wasent then what the heck would its purpose be? a distraction at the cost of a pelican and probably lots of whatever the current currency is in wasted equipment? Im saying the pelican where the crew is NOT notated.

EDIT: I confused stacker with one of the unnamed ODST soldiers. I forgot all about the troops at the zanzibar hotel. Darnit I thought I was so close to possibly finding a logical way for the ODST crew to meet cheif! Argh, John will be sorely missed. Im used to seeing stacker as an ODST since they used him for both characters and only had a vague recollection of the mission.

I won't miss him, he can spend a few years kipping for all I care. When Microsoft finally decide to continue his story with Halo 4, then we shall see him.

  • 08.03.2009 3:14 PM PDT

yeah. I really do think they are going to hit us with a curveball. Thx for giving my tendancies for stubbornness a run for its money though. :D

E-mail; save a stamp fire a mailman...

yes, i do know what your talking about and i completely understand the information you relayed...

Ok... on the day at the beach movie these are the known ODST's in the video...

Butkis, Private
Jones, Lance Corporal
O'Brien, Private: KIA - Killed in Pelican crash
Walpole, Private
Pete Stacker, Gunnery Sergeant
Unknown, Pelican Pilot: KIA - Killed in Pelican crash
Unknown, Pelican Co-Pilot: KIA - Killed in Pelican crash

that is the start... after the movie is finish it is believed that they (Butkis, Jones, Walpole, Pete Stacker) have regrouped with the the pelican because cortana states... "Find a hole, stay put. We'll come to you" So believably they returned to In Amber Clad and traveled onto Delta halo Or they where unlucky enough to be still in Mombasa when Truths ship jumped into slip space... If this is the case there is a very very slim chance that they would have survived. seeing how as the pelican would have more than likely been in the air and thrown around like a rage doll. Killed when they landed.

here are the video's...
Another Day at the Beach
Outskirts intro

The fact that the there where three pelicans. (that we know of) Two went down right in the beginning. one landing the cheif and one pelican had the ODST's...

So 3 - 2 = 1 pelican left... this carried Johnson and the other troops off... So if and this is a big if... Cortana supposedly reassigned the pelican to go pick up the other troops

Johnson and the ODST squad's where recalled onto In Amber Clad... Ordered by Commander Keyes... here is the exact situational dialog that was in the game...

Commander Keyes (O.S.): "Sergeant, I need you on that bird."

Sergeant Johnson (O.S.): "Ma'am?"

Commander Keyes (O.S.): "My Pelicans are going to start airlifting armor and reinforcements into the city. They'll need an escort that isn't afraid of a little hostile ground fire."

Sergeant Johnson (O.S.): "Understood. I'll keep an eye on 'em. Chief ... good luck.'

We know that Commander Keyes did not have the opportunities to send in another pelican to air lift troops into the city, as of yet.... seeing as Johnson and his pelican would have had to return to In Amber Clad to escort the pelicans down to earth...

Here ends the outskirt level...
Here starts the metropolis level....

Johnson returns from In Amber Clad with a tank stating that "I know what the ladies like"...
So we have our returning pelican. but this is just one... Assuming that ODST's where picked up the first time when the pelican left this means they are on In Amber Clad. If not we know that the ODST's where left behind and died on in the slip space rupture...

But lets role with the fact that they are living and currently eating a nice bowl of chili in In Amber Clad's Kitchen. They would have been transferred to Delta Halo and fought along side the chief there.

So... then we get back to your flashback scenario...

From what we know about these scenarios is we need a clue, some sort of object that would relate the story to the rookie and let us play on this select mission. So lets say we find by chance the pelican in Old Mombasa of the ODST's from the day at the beach... we would have to To travel from NEW Mombasa . Seeing as Halo 3: ODST only takes place in New Mombasa, this would pose a problem... But lets ignore that fact and say we go outside our boundary limits in the game and go to old Mombasa.

You would have to have a retooled video, a cinematic experiences the player would play... Now i don't know about you but i don't like playing a cinematic experience in a video game. But lets role with it and call it a button massing, press 'X' as fast as you can to remove your helmet..., it would not work. But after that the supposed mission would be what, stand still and wait for a pelican to arrive in 5-8 mins. that's not real entertaining to me. While it could portray a firefight moment in campaign, it may clash with what we already know of Another day at the Beach

Logically what relevance would this small firefight moment have on the rookie. Dare, Mickey, Romeo, Dutch, & Buck where all on there carrier just moments before the slip space rupture. they would have not come in contact with this ODST squad. In fact they where on a completely different ship. Assuming that the ADaB (Another Day at Beach) squad would have left before the slip space rupture they would have never even come in contact with our squad.

Now are you starting to see the real logic behind this. Im not trying to bash you and please do not get all offensive on me, but bungie would not put something like this in for the following reasons.

1) Timeline, canon issues
2) Placement of troops
3) In Amber Clad vs Unknown Carrier the ODST's where stationed on
4) Repetition of storyline
5) New Mombasa vs Old Mombasa issues
6) Unrealistic gameplay (very cinematic)

Im not saying that i would not want it all in all, i just don't logically see it happening.
In the future please know exactly what you are talking about before accusing someone of being an complete idiot. For example the USS Athena dose not even exist... Thank you.

"And my army of brothers went over the hilltops, drenched in blood we may be... But fighting is all left to me... Together with my army of brothers... Down we fall... Darkness in all... Through hell!"

There are, in fact, three Pelicans.
The lead one, gets dominated by the Scarab's initial shot.
The one the Day at the Beach video focuses on, has the crew's story plotted out through said video,
The final one gets clipped, flips over, lands on a roof, and falls into a small ally. This one has the Chief, Johnson, and company.

I don't see where you're getting one that survived, but hasn't already had it's story told at some point.

By the way I REALIZE the USS Athena doesent exist. Do you even know my motives for why I chose this name? Thats a stupid and harsh assumption. Also, who says that within the timeline that they may have been picked up, they could have been transferred to the Say My Name. Plus who says that there couldent have been moments left in relevance in the storyline that were left out of the story, not only is this game an opportunity to confirm other storyline events are canonical, but expand upon them, and where did I EVER say It had to be cinematic gameplay, essentially there could be some small, generally inquisitive clips like pan camera shots of the pelican combined with some events. Halo 3: O.D.S.T. is in fact a free roam game and a player after doing some objectives in the game could coincidentially have an area opened to the by perhaps a large pile of rubble blocking a street way collapsing on the cities sewer systems to have the player be able to walk over it. plus for old mombasa, why would this be a problem? They never really ever held a strict confine to "you can ONLY PLAY in new mombasas territory, thats IT. If it is to truly be an expansive sandbox styled game they should have areas not covered by the superintendants system, a dilapidated, generally large and useless area, but with a few secrets. As for repetition of storyline, tell me how getting split off from your original LZ and playing through with stacker could be considered repetetive. They didnt stay immediately adjacent to the crash site and moved from it, A flashback with stacker would be decently interesting because they could showcase and reveal events that master cheif didnt even know occurred. and as for the person who posted that video, you do realize thats fan compiled fotage and not canon, right? plus once again both of us are opinionated. and the name statement was a really jackass move because not every name has a direct purpose.

Been here 6 years, been blacklisted 6 times, that's why I'm not Mythic.

Why don't people understand that the Master Chief is NOT on Earth during the game. He's at Delta Halo. Don't believe me, then you're obviously an idiot.

YES.

alpha halo I JUST STATED IT'D BE UNLIKELY! JESUS CHRIST IS NO ONE READING MY -blam!-ING POSTS? I JUST SAID IT WOULD BE INCREDIBLY UNLIKELY THAT THE O.D.S.T. SQUAD WAS JUST ASSEMBLED BECAUSE OF THEIR MUTUAL CONNECTIONS GODD*MNIT ITS LIKE TALKING TO A WALL! YOU PEOPLE ARE BRINGING UP THINGS, I AGREE WITH YOU ON. WE MAY HAVE SOME DIFFERENT CONCEPTS OF SPECULATION, BUT FOR THE MOST PART IM AGREEING WITH YOU AND YOU DONT EVEN JUST READ MY POSTS.

  • 08.04.2009 11:16 AM PDT

god is it that hard to read some text for some of you imbeciles. Yes one of the pelicans is hit with the initial shot, im arguing that it simply damaged some of the flight equipment and killed one of the O.D.S.T. squad members, but since they were so minimally a distance from the balcony to the left, the balcony took the force of the fall and didnt cause much collateral damage for the crew. Im saying that possibly the undisclosed crew, survived.

  • 08.04.2009 11:19 AM PDT

and BTW they said you would relive through a form of flashbacks as other squadmates to solve why ONI ordered the descent of the O.D.S.T. Troopers to change locations. As the other team has apparently been around for a while and this spacing is literally in the same day, the events that occurred in Halo 2 with the three pelicans could have easily happened and the O.D.S.T. squad was just sent on another run, prior to the drop from Say My Name. Say the only way to easily pierce the covenant flagship's hull was with an H.E.V. Because almost all of the MAC Cannon stations were destroyed, maybe they refitted the several available O.D.S.T. Platoons on the ground, available in the say my name and leftovers from in amber clad to be shipped on board the say my name so all drop pods could be used to drop directly onto the covenant flagship and break through the outer hull. Think about it, you can still organize squads, but there are no entry points on the ship so the covenant battle network would be in complete chaos due to the fact the O.D.S.T.s are in every general area of the ship, all O.D.S.T.'s could accomplish several objectives simultaneously due to their diasporia throughout the ship, lots of beneficial factors.

Thing is about this game all the events, including the flashbacks, are said to take place after the slipspace rupture that happened while the squad was dropping in. This is why you would not flashback to the squad of the third pelican.

Probably not, by the sound of it they were collected into a squad specifically for this mission.

And Rookie is a meat-shield.
