With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Because Africa kicks ass..... 'nuff said!

(That was not sarcasm)

Oh, and GameJunkieJim, nice job linking up the significance of Africa with Evolution and Halo and its "last firing."

And if there's someone out there who doesn't believe in evolution, don't start flaming. They're your beliefs. Saying yours are better is worse than what Jim might start (no offense, Jim, I only say that because I've seen it happen on B.net before).

None taken sir. I value your opinion, as I respect your presence and intellect here on B.Net...

I sincerely believe that I may be onto something though. It all makes too much sense to ignore you know?

Well, maybe Bungie doesn't follow Ockham's Razor....

I think Jim's onto something. I hardly recognize Shai anymore, since he changed his avatar. That's how I used to identify him, lol. Oh, and aren't the Galapogos islands off the coast of Africa, or am I off?

Galapogos Islands are along Ecuador.

Galapogos are off the coast of South America. But the books state that the Forerunner language looks Aztec. The Aztec empire was near the Galapogos.

Woah, man, was I off. Aztec, eh? Mmm, maybe the Covies are attracted to pyramids. In Africa, there's Egypt, and in Mexico they have 'em too. Also, the structure the control room was on top of was pyramid-like.

Another good catch with the language thing, but most of the symbols I've seen are more flowing, like here...

Actually, Halo last fired 100,000 Halo years. God knows how long a Halo year is.

Again good point, But I'll suspect that for Bungies purposes, it won't be too awful different, after all, Halo did have a similar atmosphere to Earth's, maybe it was patterned after it?

But Nobody will know for sure until November....

hey since someone brought up the dialog in the halo 2 trailer it made me think of something i noticed. in the e3 2003 video there are all kinda of backgroun noises. but there is one that sounds like a muffled loud speaker chatter, but i can't make out what the person is saying. if it is in fact even a person, it sound more like beeping. anyone else notive this? you can hear it pretty clearly around when the odst's say frag and clear i think.

Beginners usually make good topics. I remember my first one, it got over 130 responses, and it was on New Mombasa. Well now I can't think of anything else about Africa because Jim pretty much said it.

I got a question, why is it that all the spartans think the forerunner symbols look farmiliar?? is it something to do with all the history they learned?? or does it have to do with something else??

My first post got flamed, because I was in the wrong forum. My Revitalization post is right at 100 replies right now, and I'm still looking for Chapters to look into it.

But back on this topic, I had originally thought Africa would be a location of interest before the Halo 2 info came out, back when I first beat Halo, and I was thinking about the 100,000 years thing, I got off of my rump, and did a bit of research, and that's when I found out about when -blam!- sapiens first appeared, and when the H2 trailer came out, and I saw New Mombasa on the screen, I just about fainted!!!

And Magji, here Click this link The Forerunner symbols aren't really that complex if you think about it.

Very observent of you. You did your research well. I was doing this same thing on a thread about shizarks one day, and kept supplying the readers with sharky-facts. See what the Discovery Channel does to ya?

I think a reason also might be that since Africa isn't as advanced as the rest of the world. (Im not saying Africans are dumb or uncivilized) Bungie might be holding out on places like New America or New U.K for modification reasons. They want you to be amazed, but they don,t want it to be too unrealistic.

Temples in the Congo that no one's really explored, (Maybe a sweet MP level at the least? Please Bungie!!) The Pyramids, Heiroglyphics that could be twisted into Forerunner Symbols Rosetta Stone? Dikembe Mutumbo? (j/k) proximity to the Indian Ocean? 100,000 year old land bridge? (Dubbed Adam's Bridge if you want to do a Google Search) Our own Holy Lands are nearby, Africa is really a Geological and Anthropological Powerhouse as it were, and some of the world's newest construction tech is there today (sorry double 1 seven, I'm afraid you are wrong about that one), who knows what 500 years could do?

I just looked at those Forerunner/Covenant symbols, and they don't look Aztec to me. But notice that all of them are circular, could they have a relation to the rings?

Mathmatically, a circle is perfect. If the forerunner were greatly advanced they would probably have based much of their glyphic on the simplest and most perfect shape there is, a Circle.

And a giant ring seems more logical than a giant square or any other shape.

Why Africa?

In the e3 2004 demo one of the guys said that zanzibar is 20 clicks north of the covies primary point of incursion(An aggressive entrance into foreign territory; a raid or invasion) i looked at map and that spot is Dar es Salaam(Which is arabic for "haven of peace") a city in Tanzania. dont believe me watch the demo and look at a map.

This is as far as i got
