Can someone explain to me exactly how Firefight is different from Horde?I don't know that much about firefight yet.

Well the key difference is their power levels...
- Horde's power level is about 4...
- Firefight's power IS OVER NINE THOUSANNNDDDD!
But seriously, Firefight is...ummm...I dunno...It's Halo instead of Gears? Someone else pleae explain fully, i'm way too lazy to think up reasons.

firefight is never ending

I think Firefight has 99 rounds so it's not endless.

  • 08.03.2009 2:40 PM PDT

ODST;s fire fight is different because After each round you get a skull turned on like Catch or Iron
& Each round gets harder & harder & in Gears of War's Horde mode you
Don't have Skulls & non of the rounds get harder & harder it all stays the
Same each round... Basically Horde mode is one Big boring Session
but in Halo ODST it's gonna be a load of fun!

horde haz shield that can blockz teh entranceee

  • 08.03.2009 4:10 PM PDT

Firefight is random. You could end up with 2 Wraiths and a few Hunter pairs for the first round. Skull activation per round is random. There are 5 waves/round, 99 rounds total. That's 495 rounds. If you can do that... you should probably see a doctor or something.

  • 08.03.2009 4:13 PM PDT

-You play as ODSTs (or Johnson)
-You fight Covenant
-Longer than Horde
-Skulls
-No Matchmaking
-No boomshields to block entrances

1.Well horde does get harder over time, but halo uses the skulls to mix things up insted of just increasing enemy health and damage.
2. Firefight is neverending but you only have a limited number of lives (more lives are gained each round).
3.Unlike horde you respawn when you die as long as you have lives left, you dont have to wait for the round to end.
4. In firefight the covenant are dropped in from phantoms on most maps whereas in horde they just appear.
5. Firefight does not have a matchmaking system so you can only play with friends or recent players, people have been setting up groups to get around this.
6. Obviously one is FPS in the halo universe the other is 3rdPS in the Gears of War universe.

Thats all I can think of for now.

Curent Games: Gears of War 2, Dead Space, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, The World Ends With You

XBL: KNIGHTOFDRAGONS

Basically, at the beginning of Firefight, you can selec a certain number of skulls to activate. The rounds have 5 waves. Wave 5 has Brute Chieftains. The enemies are random. After you finish Wave 5, you complete a set. Each new set activates a skull. Bungie said that something special happens after each set. It is uncertain how many sets there are. You get 7 lives per set, I think.

Firefight is endless. It's done in sets of five waves in a round. With Brute chieftains as the last wave. Then the next five start, and goes on until you run out of lives. Does not get progressively harder, but just another random round.
FIREFIGHT IS NOT HORDE!
Firefight is based on a survival mode.
Horde is based on a survival mode.

All you idiots who think Horde is the first need to culture yourselves in video games.

<3

Firefight is a survival mode. It didn't copy off of Horde. Survival Mode didn't start off with Horde. Yeah, and Firefight is endless, just like CoD:WaW Zombies.

Calm down seriously. No one in this thread has said horde was the first survival game mode, or that firefight is going to be just the same. The OP just wanted us to compare Firefight, a survival mode he is unfamiliar with, to Horde a survival mode he is familiar with, so that he may better understand the experience Firefight will offer. Also to all the people saying Firefight will be better, not only is this a matter of opinion but we don't really know because the game hasn't been released yet and the OP didn't even ask which would be better so it is irrelevant to the topic.

Are you aware of the amount of people on the ODST forum that believes Halo 3: ODST copied off of Horde? I'm pretty sure that that post was referring to those kind of people.

Thou hast been out BR'ed and now wilst feast most succulently upon my bageth of tea

firefight and horde are pretty much the same thing in priciple (fight never ending groups of enemies and see how long you can survive) but it has many different features that sets it apart from horde. 1st person vs. 3rd person, vehicles, enemy dropships, lives, skulls....blah blah blah
