Subject: Two Things I'd like to see...

First off, I'm a huge game and novel fan! I personally hope that the game starts very early in the story of "The Fall of Reach" and includes many of the early missions seen in the book. aka I expect to see Sam! Of course I'd like to see new material but the l books are quite good and I'd love to live some of that action. Also, on a random note I have an image in my head of a level that starts off just after some major battle. From the destruction it is clear that spartans were involved because there are hundreds of dead covenant littered everywhere. That would really hit home the awesome abilities of the Spartans.

just my two cents.

Punch a bear in the face.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

Sam was the first Spartan killed during the Covenant War, right? He died about 27 years before Reach takes place.

Would Bungie just base this whole game on Eric Nylund's Fall of Reach? It's a good book, but doesn't seem right that they'd base the game solely on that.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

You realize an Elite can do anything a Spartan can do, just as well. So there would need to be dead Spartans littering that battlefield too.

Wrong. Elites are just as physically strong and durable as a Spartan.

Spartans have much better training, reflexes, tactics, coordination and team work than your average Elite. Sure, there is a percent of the millions of Elite warriors that could give a Spartan a run for their money. But overall, the Spartans are far superior. This is demonstrated in just about every Halo game, book, comic, anything really.

Actually, in the books, the Spartans got their asses kicked in any fight that involved Elites.

The ONLY Exceptions are Master Chief, and Halo Wars (which they ONLY did to make Spartans look cool)

It the Novel, the VERY FIRST time an Elite appeared, he caused one Spartan to be lost in space, another had to be rushed to a Cryo-tube, or she would have died. And Master Chief LUCKED OUT Killing him, and that was just a Minor Domo.

Master Chief is the ONLY Spartan Canonically superior to Elites, and the Arbiter is his equal.

the game will probably be based on the plot of the fall of reach, but not the storyline

First off, I said Master Chief is the ONE exception to the equality rule, next off, one of the Marines had to help him, or he would have been struggling with that Elite for a long time.

it was 2 on one, of course he lost, also like I said, and I will word it differently so you can understand.

MASTER CHIEF is the MAIN CHARACTER of the GAME/BOOK and CAN'T DIE.

It is a PLOT DEVICE. Which is the ONLY Reason Master Chief is better than the Elites. The HERO wins.

Anyway, that Elite HAD been fighting, the SpecOps Elites were on Halo, this one just got pulled out before it blew up.

In hand to hand combat they are about equal (and if I remember correctly the only close calls with an Elite were in hand to hand combat), but on the battlefield Spartans always have and always will be superior. They have much better tactics and aim.

Regarding the elite vs spartan thing...

I would say from reading the books that the spartans always win. Yes the events where spartans like Linda "die" occur, but only because of overwhelming numbers of enemies being sent against them. In an even fight a spartan would always win.

Bottom line is numbers. The Spartans have been on dozens of missions against the Covenant. Missions in which they ran through many Elites. I don't recall any mention of a specialized group of Elites killing off a bunch of Spartans.
