What would you prefer to see? Halo 3 style aiming or Halo 2?

Personally I'd prefer both hit scan BR/snipe AND the H2 melee system, but meh. Who knows..

Just wondering what you guys think/prefer.

I hate the Halo 2 and Halo 3 melee system. In Halo 2 its too inconsistent. In Halo 3, its so consistent that it takes no skill (click B and you land a melee, no questions asked). Bring back the Halo 1 melee.

Maybe add depth to it by bringing in a double melee by pressing B-X-B, and if you mistime it, you are at a disadvantage (cannot shoot/throwgrenades/melee/change weapons temporarily) like with active reloading in Gears of War.

The chances of Halo Reach having Hitscan weapons is very low to the point where we can say that it won't. Why would they repent and go back to hitscan after how much they defended the change in Halo 3 with that one weekly update?

Well, that's just it.. this isn't Halo 3 :P

If they had to post specifically about it, I'm sure there's a decent amount of people who want it back.. I don't see why they wouldn't at least consider it.

Less realistic true.. more fun, true.. Hell, we're in the 26th century and fighting aliens. Not realistic to begin with.

I would only like hitscan if they could find a way to allow for proper leading and bullet physics with low auto-aim etc. Otherwise, I don't think so.

Hitscan should only be brought back for some weapons (here comes the flames). The BR shold not be hitscan, the amount of skill it takes to lead your shots with the BR is a good thing and adds to halo. Some weapons should be hitscan IMO in order to balance out the headshottable weapons.

Weapons that should be hitscan in my opinion:

Carbine: A hitscan carbine would make it have a slight edge on the BR thus rewarding players for picking it up.
Sniper: I just find it extremely annoying to have to lead my shots with the sniper.
Lazer: The lazer was a success in halo 3 because its power and hitscan-like capabilities made it worth grabbing but the powerup time kept it from becoming too powerful.

Thats just my opinion, and although I can definately see both sides of the argument I have a weird feeling that this^^^ would be the best comprimise.

Could you please add a "some weapons" option to the poll.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Hitscan should only be for the Laser.

I agree with Cheewawa with the melee thing, but I'm not sure about the weapons.

What exactly is the difference between hitscan and non-hitscan?

I Ge7 t3h H34dSh0tZ!!!

More realistic bullet physics and less auto aim. Only then would i like hitscan

Well I didn't vote on this one because there is a different approach.
Why not add an option in the custom games lobby to toggle on/off hitscan?
competitive players can turn the option on, and anyone that likes realism can just keep it off.

ok the melee system in halo 3 is amazing if you ask me. and im saying that because ive play perfect dark zero, cod, gears, and u know how fking annoying it is when you miss a punch when someone is close to u and they move an inch and ur punch missed, then they melee u and u die. i mean come on.

melee is too important in halo to have a poor system

the most used tool of killing in halo 3 is melee so lower the melee damage. its is harder then a bullet and that is kinda weird....

They defended it because on paper it was great. Unfortuanetly with so many dropped bullets the idea doesn't actually work in the real world.

The melee system is great in halo 3 except for how much damage it does. If they lowered the damage it would be great.

A hitscan means if you were aiming at something and pulled the trigger, even if the shot doesn't look like it hits, it will hit.
