10) Xbox 360 (335+ Members)

Seventh place? There are no coincidences.

Igni Ferroque Is the embodiment of the 7th Column....

... Apparently...

... I can only presume there's been some kind of mistake....

Quick! let's get more people to join so it's not 7th anymore!

In reply to the thread, uh well, well done guys..... i mean what else can be said? Your fantastic? we love you guys and your chapters? Man, you're so much better than us?

-I don't wish to be rude so please don't take this post the wrong way. I genuinly think these founders and staff do a great job. The misleading thing is activity. I know that MSXL is active, but only because maybe a max. of 10 people post regually.

Guys, he didn't even give a link to these groups. Therefore, I am not considering this an advertisement.

Any person here with any sort of group experience will know that getting 100 members in your group takes some time, and you may not always pull 100 members into your group. So how much time and effort do you think it takes to pull 1000+ members into your group? How about more than 335+ members? It's going to take some time.

If you notice, there are only 10 groups with these amount of members. Do you see anywhere on the post body that says "These groups are the largest, join today"? No, it just has a list of the 10 largest groups.

I agree that activity is the most important thing. But, by gaining members, you can get lucky enough to pull in a lot of active members (members that actually post in the groups they are part of). Along with content, this is what makes a successful group. You're going to show content to your members, which will make the group active.

He is not saying that these are the most active groups! He is simply showing the largest groups on the 7th Column.

Yea I know it takes time to get all those members.. But we feel inferior and it feels like Guardian Hunter is trying to advertise the groups. It doesn't matter if he didn't post the links. But showing the top ten largest groups is bit of a popularity contest as stated before. So therefore, it sounds to us that showing the largest ones is trying to flames and us being envied.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Maybe he was just telling you guys who the big 10 were. This place is about groups. All you guys jump on the mans back just for statingsome facts he found while doing research, like a bunch of savages. Having 100 members is a challenge, having 1000 takes work.
And its not a popularity contest but its clear that if a group has more members then its most likly safe to say its more popular.

Activity is most important. more people = more activity. Small groups are active, but there is only so much 10-50 people can talk about.

And how is it a commercial??, he posted NO LINKS and NO INFO about except for the members.
He didnt say join these groups.

I thought this forum had mature smart people in it, and alot of you have just prooved me wrong. Seriously like a pack of dogs u jump on the poor guy.

Well said man, well said. I've seen groups of 20 with hundreds of replies. I've also seen groups with hundreds of members and the largest thread of 20 replies. It's a differential of powers, but in the end, the underdog wins....

I wouldnt say that in the end the small groups win. I am in one of those big groups and the members are very active. Threads get alot of replys. Its like bungies forum, so many threads are made that old ones sink away, but really good one get replys, tons of them. The problem with small groups is they may be active, but the activity is one post a day per person and thats just boring.

I am sure this is not an ad. Most ads focused on one and on a rare ocasian 2 groups. This also isn't asking anyone to join any of the groups. All it is is telling which groups have howmany members.

more people = more activity.

In several cases, yes. But on the whole, no.

And its not a popularity contest but its clear that if a group has more members then its most likly safe to say its more popular.

You just contradicted yourself. As pointed out earlier, quality, and not quantity, is what matters. I've seen very popular small groups - popular amongst active members. Big groups are often just member magnets which pick up a lot of inactive members and are not so well known by the active members of Bnet.

I thought this forum had mature smart people in it, and alot of you have just prooved me wrong. Seriously like a pack of dogs u jump on the poor guy.

And by making such an unnecessary post you help to further misprove your point. Besides - there's nothing immature or stupid about expressing an opinion. You're attacking others and yet claiming they are the "pack of dogs".

Thx for that.

Its common sense though. A group with more members must have something that is more appealing to people. Thats why the group has so many people. Making it a popular group.
A small group is only popular to the fiew members in it, i guess you could say the same that a group with 1000 members is only popular to the people in it, but i feel its a different case. People can say yes I have heard of the Halo movie clan, or yes I am a member of xbox 360. With small groups people may say wtf are you talking about.

In conclusion more members = more posts = activity= content= more members= popular.

I hope i didnt confuse you. I wasnt trying to be mean in my original post, but you have to admit some people tore into Hunter like jerks.

I agree and disagree with some parts. You are right that there are plenty of small, active groups. But just because a group is large doesn't mean it is inactive. If the group is big, but inactive, then the majority of the members are probably going to leave the group by sometime.

And I don't think that is true about active members not knowing about larger groups. Even with a small active group, normally, not every single member is active. That same goes to groups - not every single member in the group is going to stay active. MSXL (which is on the list) is a large group, and it is active as well. Same for the other groups on the list.

My very own group is on the list, and I can say that I have pulled in enough active members, even though not every single member is posting. And that goes for the rest of the large groups. Not every member is going to be active, but you can make it active by showing content to your members.

Exactly.....all of the groups that are up there must have dedicated, good leaders, otherwise, how would their groups get so big?....I'm in a pretty good ammount of groups, but I've found that the groups that are the best are the groups with dedicated leaders. It's not right to bash guardian hunter for posting this...he was simply trying to show some facts. All of the groups up there probably have great leaders, who have personally went out and pmed people to come join, or....well....just did good advertising. I don't feel mad at guardian for posting this...and, sure, my group has like....53 members or something...but, I've had two groups before that only made it to 10 members...so, I feel pretty good about that.

I think this is probably how stuff goes:

good, active, recruiting leader= big group, with plenty of stuff to post about.

Finally some sense. I agree with savage 100% Guardian is the leader of MBT and he is the reason MBT is #3 on that list. He is dedicated. He helps every member with whatever they need. And Blackeye is the leader of xbox 360, I see him constantly active and he helps members out in every single way.

People like Guardian and Blackeye are the people who make great groups. Great groups get lots of active members, not 20, but hundreds!

2nd place. Read the thread before you start posting!

As for the whole big group is the best advertisment. I seriously think of this advertising larger groups. Though I often use them as a "starting" group for new members. This I concider more of a statistical analysis and report on the 7thColumn concerning the largest chapters member wise. No where does it say that they are the most active or the best chapters and everyone should join.
