YES!! i know that this has been posted several times, so do NOT complain about it, thank you.

I've heard that the first three Halo games (plus ODST) uses the same engine, exept some major improvements between every game. Will Reach use a new engine or what?

You know? I've been thinking the same thing, but honestly? How can you improve or change the game engine and still keep true to the Halo fans?

Those major improvements between every game make each engine different enough to consider them as seperate engines :)

What about the inbred house potatoes?!

.

All of the Halo games have used completely different engines. ODST is the only one that uses the same engine as one of the other games. So yes, Reach will use a new engine.

I do not think a game engine is what you think it is.

OP,

I am pretty sure you're right about all games using the same engine, heavily upgraded.
I mean, the graphics still look very familiar and similar from game to game. halo 3 looks just slightly better than H2 (like a HD port of it) ... so I wouldn't be surprised.

however a bungie employee said they were making a brand new engine for reach, that'll be used as a basis for upcoming halo games (that'll be developed by 343 industries, not bungie anymore).
a M$ employee even said in an interview that reach would be a response to killzone's graphics.

Do you have proof (a link) to support this? however a bungie employee said they were making a brand new engine for reach, that'll be used as a basis for upcoming halo games (that'll be developed by 343 industries, not bungie anymore).

I have no proof that all game use the same engine.

but I have a proof for the rest :
http://www.gameguru.in/first-person-shooters/2009/16/halo-rea ch-aaa-engine/ (new super powerful AAA engine)
http://shabz666.wordpress.com/2009/07/16/aaron-greenberg-on-h alo-reach/ (response to killzone graphics)

as for next halo games being developed by 343I and not bungie... well... bungie said Reach is their last game.
halo is owned by M$.
M$ made a studio dedicated to create halo games (and is named after a halo character) ... that's obvious, isn't it?
