You face an opponent who has never known defeat, who laughs in foreign tongues at your efforts to survive. This is Reply suicide.

The only problems I've EVER had with the BR, stem from stereotypes against the AR, the fact that jerks of the MLG community (not all MLG players are jerks, just the ones who seem to come to these forums) endorse it as a God weapon (it's not a God weapon and can even be put down by an AR user who knows how to use the weapon, from a considerable distance like say the middle of Valhalla to just in front of one of the bases without having to reload), and that too many maps become INCREDIBLY unbalanced when you spawn with the weapon.
To name a few maps that become unbalanced when you spawn with a BR...
Sandbox, Standoff, Valhalla.
Now, I'm not complaining that the BR shouldn't EVER be used... But these maps REQUIRE you to play with the BR. And many of these maps initially had something like 4-6 BR spawns on it, without the BR start.
My complaint about the BR has always been the poor design quality of the maps themselves. Spawning out-of-cover, on top of your base, is BAD with BR starts. You'll die before you ever get anywhere, because you just respawned and can't coordinate an effective counter-attack to an enemy who KNOWS where you will spawn and has you pinned down. Many of the maps spawn you out of cover or nowhere near an advantageous position (like behind all the enemies, so you can at least teach them not to spawn camp with the weapon).
Certain maps work WONDERFULLY with the BR starts because of the layout of the map and the abundant cover. But others suffer GREATLY from map layout and lack of cover. And on these maps a BR start might as well just be "only weapon on the map" instead of "BR start" because there's no need to ever pick up anything different. You spawn with the best weapon on the map and therefore, there isn't a need to pick up anything else except maybe a rocket launcher or spartan laser. Or, in some cases, a sniper rifle. 98% of your kills and the enemy kills on these maps will be with the BR.
But other than that, I love the weapon. It's just the maps that tend to make the weapon hated amongst people and with myself.
If they took it out of ODST or never intended to have it, I don't see it as much of a problem. It's not like I have to rely on it for a kill. Indeed, duals are among my top ten weapons. My playstyle relies on mobility and proximity instead of remaining static from a distance.
In any case, regardless of weapons in ODST, as long as the needler is in it, I'll probably be using that more than the SMG or Pistol.
